Likelihood Ratio-Based Detection of Facial Features
One of the first steps in face recognition, after image acquisition, is registration. A simple but effective technique of registration is to align facial features, such as eyes, nose and mouth, as well as possible to a standard face. This requires an accurate automatic estimate of the locations of those features. This contribution proposes a method for estimating the locations of facial features based on likelihood ratio-based detection. A post-processing step that evaluates the topology of the facial features is added to reduce the number of false detections. Although the individual detectors only have a reasonable performance (equal error rates range from 3.3% for the eyes to 1.0% for the nose), the positions of the facial features are estimated correctly in 95% of the face images
Effect of cooking time on physical properties of almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy
One of the crucial elements in developing or reformulating product is to maintain the quality throughout its entire shelf life. This study aims to determine the effect of different cooking time on the almond milk-based of lemak cili api gravy. Various cooking times of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes were employed to the almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy followed by determination of their effects on physical properties such as total soluble solids content, pH and colour. pH was determined by using a pH meter. Refractometer was used to evaluate the total soluble solids content of almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy. The colours were determined by using spectrophotometer which expressed as L*, a* and b* values. Results showed that almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy has constant values of total soluble solids with pH range of 5 to 6, which can be classified as low acid food. Colour analysis showed that the lightness (L*) and yellowness (b*) are significantly increased while redness (a*) decreased. In conclusion, this study shows that physical properties of almond milk-based lemak cili api gravy changes by increasing the cooking time

A survey of face detection, extraction and recognition
The goal of this paper is to present a critical survey of existing literatures on human face recognition over the last 4-5 years. Interest and research activities in face recognition have increased significantly over the past few years, especially after the American airliner tragedy on September 11 in 2001. While this growth largely is driven by growing application demands, such as static matching of controlled photographs as in mug shots matching, credit card verification to surveillance video images, identification for law enforcement and authentication for banking and security system access, advances in signal analysis techniques, such as wavelets and neural networks, are also important catalysts. Occlusion Coherence: Detecting and Localizing Occluded Faces
The presence of occluders significantly impacts object recognition accuracy.
However, occlusion is typically treated as an unstructured source of noise and
explicit models for occluders have lagged behind those for object appearance
and shape. In this paper we describe a hierarchical deformable part model for
face detection and landmark localization that explicitly models part occlusion.
The proposed model structure makes it possible to augment positive training
data with large numbers of synthetically occluded instances. This allows us to
easily incorporate the statistics of occlusion patterns in a discriminatively
trained model. We test the model on several benchmarks for landmark
localization and detection including challenging new data sets featuring
significant occlusion. We find that the addition of an explicit occlusion model
yields a detection system that outperforms existing approaches for occluded
instances while maintaining competitive accuracy in detection and landmark
localization for unoccluded instances
Fully Automatic Expression-Invariant Face Correspondence
We consider the problem of computing accurate point-to-point correspondences
among a set of human face scans with varying expressions. Our fully automatic
approach does not require any manually placed markers on the scan. Instead, the
approach learns the locations of a set of landmarks present in a database and
uses this knowledge to automatically predict the locations of these landmarks
on a newly available scan. The predicted landmarks are then used to compute
point-to-point correspondences between a template model and the newly available
scan. To accurately fit the expression of the template to the expression of the
scan, we use as template a blendshape model. Our algorithm was tested on a
database of human faces of different ethnic groups with strongly varying
expressions. Experimental results show that the obtained point-to-point
correspondence is both highly accurate and consistent for most of the tested 3D
face models
