    Extreme programming project management examines software development theory, the extreme programming process, and the essentials of standard project management as applied to software projects. The goal of this thesis is to integrate standard software project management practices, where possible, into the extreme programming process. Thus creating a management framework for extreme programming project management that gives the extreme programming managers the management activities and tools to utilize the extreme programming process within a wider range of commercial computing organizations, relationships, and development projects. The author speculates that the lack of organizational adoption and mainstream integration of the extreme programming process is connected to the lack of standard project management structure that allows for greater control of scheduling, cost, and quality. This paper will create a basic framework that will be used to improve the extreme programming process and identify its shortcomings

    Patient Care Advocacy Through Electronic Communication

    Patient advocacy is a primary role of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). While engaged in the legislative process, CRNAs have failed to materialize significant gains in political potency on a national scale. This project involved the development of prototype software for mobile communication devices to augment the CRNA community’s ability to advocate for patients in the healthcare policy arenas. After a demonstration of the software to key leaders of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), an anonymous survey was distributed to the AANA executive administrators. All six executives in attendance for the demonstration of the software completed and returned a qualitative survey. The survey was designed for a critique of the developed software. The results of the survey conveyed a strong interest in the prototype and a plan for further development of the software. Several functions of the software were regarded by the AANA executives as essentials for future iterations of the application

Even so, porting previous desktop applications is not always possible or of practical use, needing a whole reexamination of their user interface model. Software for Bioinformatics adds further issues: lack of standards in formats, mixed alternatives on the treatment of data, huge data-sizes, difficulty of output representation, which makes simpler interactive environment as are touch interfaces, struggle to reach a bare basic level of practical utility. Prove of that is near all the currently available Bioinformatics apps for mobile platforms, over 50, are either educative, or target only one simple action, typically a blast on a short local sequence. In spite of all of that, a careful design, based on continuous user testing, and sensible goals, is paying us more than acceptable results. To start with, we had real useful desktop applications, based on open workflows that could fundamentally be modeled easily as the user needed different treatment for their data. We took the essentials of this open perspective, as none of the currently available mobile software is worth its use except in rather particular conditions, and only the simplest processes are available. Our approach is more ambitious as it leaves open the process you can do to your data. You have hundreds of them at a single touch.     ELICA: An Automated Tool for Dynamic Extraction of Requirements Relevant Information

    Requirements elicitation requires extensive knowledge and deep understanding of the problem domain where the final system will be situated. However, in many software development projects, analysts are required to elicit the requirements from an unfamiliar domain, which often causes communication barriers between analysts and stakeholders. In this paper, we propose a requirements ELICitation Aid tool (ELICA) to help analysts better understand the target application domain by dynamic extraction and labeling of requirements-relevant knowledge. To extract the relevant terms, we leverage the flexibility and power of Weighted Finite State Transducers (WFSTs) in dynamic modeling of natural language processing tasks. In addition to the information conveyed through text, ELICA captures and processes non-linguistic information about the intention of speakers such as their confidence level, analytical tone, and emotions. The extracted information is made available to the analysts as a set of labeled snippets with highlighted relevant terms which can also be exported as an artifact of the Requirements Engineering (RE) process. The application and usefulness of ELICA are demonstrated through a case study. This study shows how pre-existing relevant information about the application domain and the information captured during an elicitation meeting, such as the conversation and stakeholders' intentions, can be captured and used to support analysts achieving their tasks.Comment: 2018 IEEE 26th International Requirements Engineering Conference Workshop

    Online Technology Management Student Tutorial Case Study

    This paper presents a case study of implementing online video-based tutorials to enhance student learning. Initially, these tutorials were developed using a software product, Camtasia, to mitigate learning differences between traditional-based classrooms versus online classes. Because online students often did not receive the same hands-on and visual learning modality that was available to students on traditional classroom settings, tutorials were assumed to level the playing field between these two groups. However, after two years of developing and integrating these tutorials into online classes, it was found that only a small minority of students were using them. Other issues were that tutorials took a long time to develop, and many lecturers felt they were ineffective. This case describes the reasons the tutorials were developed, the integration process, issues raised, and implications for future development
