    Enhancing the cosmetics industry sustainability through a renewed sustainable supplier selection model

    The cosmetics industry requires a long-term sustainable strategy to balance its continuously growing trend worldwide and its resources consumption. In this view, the suppliers' selection process is gaining more attention affecting products' overall sustainability. The objective of this contribution is hence to develop and validate the Cosmetics Sustainable Supplier Selection (C-SSS) model allowing the selection of sustainable suppliers for the cosmetic industry, evaluating them in an objective and balanced manner. The model was built relying on both scientific and grey literature, by incorporating the characteristics of existing SSS models usually used separately. The C-SSS enabled to integrate the EMM approach (to reduce the subjectivity), the ANP approach (to evaluate criteria interconnections), and the TOPSIS and ELECTRE models (to create a hybrid compensation model) to support managers in objectively selecting the most sustainable suppliers. The C-SSS model was applied and validated through an industrial use case in a cosmetics Italian company

    A product design framework for one-of-a-kind production using integrated quality function deployment and operational research techniques

    The process of product design as an early stage of new product development provides systematic approaches that can lead to the success of a company’s competitive strategy in the current turbulent market. By launching an efficient product design procedure can result in the reduction of engineering modifications, cost and production time. One-of-a-Kind Product (OKP) is known as a particular manufacturing system of new product design and development with emphasis on the special order concept. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a comprehensive design framework with cross-functional team members that leads to the development of new or improved products. QFD starts with the House of Quality (HOQ) as an organizing matrix to identify the customers’ requirements (CRs) and translate them into the technical attributes (TAs) of the product and followed by determining the target values for the sets of technical attributes. An evaluation approach to determine the relative importance of CRs and TAs should be considered. In previous researches, the traditional methods such as simple scoring method and application of operational research techniques such as Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) were reported to weigh the requirements and attributes. Despite the obvious inner-relationships among the elements, considering the HOQ as a hierarchical system may be inefficient. In addition, the contradictory effects of a TA on two or more CRs, is the problem that has been neglected. Here, a mathematical model was developed for calculating the TAs target values. A case study (dry gas filter, Namdaran Petro-Gas Industries (NPI™)) is presented to exhibit and verify the procedure of OKP product design. Initially, the framework was developed by integrating QFD-operational research (Analytic Network Process (ANP)) as a systematic method for improvement of dry gas filter design. Interview and study of documents were used to identify the CRs. A robust evaluation on customers’ priority and attributes’ importance with respect to inner-relationships among criteria/sub-criteria was performed. Furthermore, the effects of TAs on CRs with regard to their direction (positive/negative) were considered as the fundamental for developing a Multi-Objective Decision Model (MODM) to be used for determining the TAs target values. For this purpose, the fuzzy conversion scaling technique followed by formulating the partial satisfaction separately was applied. Modified TOPSIS was used to select the basic design among the available designs for further modification. Later, the process continues with the second phase, translating the TAs into the key parts. The available options (retailers) to supply the key parts were identified. As the normal procedure of QFD the relative importance’s of key parts and the options were determined. Finally, a zero-one goal programming was presented to select the optimum options for each key part subject to the budget constraint. Overall, the developed QFD-ANP framework provides a systematic approach that has the potential to be used for designing OKP product

    Kaba küme tabanlı çok kriterli karar verme yöntemi ve uygulaması

    06.03.2018 tarihli ve 30352 sayılı Resmi Gazetede yayımlanan “Yükseköğretim Kanunu İle Bazı Kanun Ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnamelerde Değişiklik Yapılması Hakkında Kanun” ile 18.06.2018 tarihli “Lisansüstü Tezlerin Elektronik Ortamda Toplanması, Düzenlenmesi ve Erişime Açılmasına İlişkin Yönerge” gereğince tam metin erişime açılmıştır.Çok kriterli karar verme problemi, çağımız yöneticilerinin sıklıkla başvurmuş olduğu yöntemlerden birisidir. Verilerin belirsiz ya da eksik olması durumunda, mevcut olan çok kriterli karar verme yöntemleri yetersiz kalırken, önermiş olduğumuz kaba küme tabanlı çok kriterli karar verme algoritması, bu eksikliği gidermede en büyük yardımcı olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, hızla artan veri trafiğinde, mevcut verilerin verimli bir şekilde kullanılması da beraberinde önemli bir durumu ortaya çıkartmaktadır. 1982 yılında ilk olarak Pawlak[1] tarafından önerilen kaba küme kavramı, büyük veri tabanlarını kullanarak gerekli olan bilginin keşfini sağlayan önemli bir araç olarak kullanılmaktadır. Kaba küme kavramı, çok kriterli karar verme problemlerinde kullanılmak üzere, kesin olmayan yapıların analizi için bulanık mantık yaklaşımından türetilmiştir. Kaba küme teorisi, kural indirgeme ve sınıflandırma yaklaşım özellikleri ile büyük verilerin analiz işleminin yanı sıra çok kriterli karar verme problemlerinde de kullanılabilmektedir. Kaba küme teorisi bulanık küme teorisinin bir alt kolu olarak geliştirilmiştir. Eksik, belirsiz verilerin değerlendirilmesi sürecinde, alt ve üst yaklaşımlar kullanılarak, veriler analiz edilmektedir. Bulanık kümeler gibi kesin sınırlamaları içermeyen bir yapıya sahiptir. Eksik bilgi analizi, bilgi tabanı indirgemesi yöntemleri kullanılarak, verilerdeki belirsizlik en aza indirgenmeye çalışılmaktadır. Tutarsız, eksik bilgi içeren veri yapılarından kural çıkarımı ve sınıflandırma konusunda kaba küme teorisi ilerleyen zamanlarda daha fazla tercih edilecek bir yöntem olarak çıkabilecektir. Bu çalışmada kaba kümeleme teorisine ait temel kavramlar kaba küme tabanlı bilgi keşfi ve kaba küme kavramı dikkate alınarak geliştirilen algoritma ile birlikte, çok kriterli karar verme probleminin çözümüne yönelik algoritma geliştirilmiştir ve diğer ÇKKV algoritmaları ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Multi criteria decision making data set may include the uncertain or incomplete data, in this situation, decision is getting difficult and impossible, the suggested rough set based multi criteria decision making algorithm can able to solve this manner problem. However, in the rapidly increasing data traffic, the efficient use of existing data also brings about an important situation. The rough set concept firstly proposed by Pawlak in 1982[1] that is used as an important tool for the discovery of the necessary information by using large databases. In the case of multi-criteria decision-making problems, the concept of rough set theory is derived from the fuzzy logic approach to perform the analysis of uncertain structures. The rough set theory also has the property of being able to be used in multi-criteria decision-making problems with the rules of rule reduction and classification during the analysis of large data. Rough set theory has a structure that does not contain definite limitations, such as fuzzy sets. Therefore, the rough set approach can able to analysis of the incomplete, inadequate and ambiguous information suitable for data analysis, uses incomplete information analysis, knowledge base reduction methods during this process. Rough set theory can be used as a natural method that deals with inconsistent and incomplete information, which is the basic problem of rule extraction and classification. In this study, the basic concepts of rough set theory is given. The algorithm for solving multi-criteria decision making has been developed by considering the rough set based knowledge discovery and rough set concept.     Sustainable Assessment in Supply Chain and Infrastructure Management

    In the competitive business environment or public domain, the sustainability assessment in supply chain and infrastructure management are important for any organization. Organizations are currently striving to improve their sustainable strategies through preparedness, response, and recovery because of increasing competitiveness, community, and regulatory pressure. Thus, it is necessary to develop a meaningful and more focused understanding of sustainability in supply chain management and infrastructure management practices. In the context of a supply chain, sustainability implies that companies identify, assess, and manage impacts and risks in all the echelons of the supply chain, considering downstream and upstream activities.
