    Model-driven Enterprise Systems Configuration

    Enterprise Systems potentially lead to significant efficiency gains but require a well-conducted configuration process. A promising idea to manage and simplify the configuration process is based on the premise of using reference models for this task. Our paper continues along this idea and delivers a two-fold contribution: first, we present a generic process for the task of model-driven Enterprise Systems configuration including the steps of (a) Specification of configurable reference models, (b) Configuration of configurable reference models, (c) Transformation of configured reference models to regular build time models, (d) Deployment of the generated build time models, (e) Controlling of implementation models to provide input to the configuration, and (f) Consolidation of implementation models to provide input to reference model specification. We discuss inputs and outputs as well as the involvement of different roles and validation mechanisms. Second, we present an instantiation case of this generic process for Enterprise Systems configuration based on Configurable EPCs

    In the modern geographic information systems, COTS software has been playing a major role. However, deploying heterogeneous GIS software has the tendency to form fragmented data sets and to cause inconsistency. To accomplish data consolidation, we must achieve interoperability between different GIS tools. In my thesis project, I developed Vector and Raster Data Adapters to implement the spatial data consolidation. I deployed ArcIMS to publish the spatial data and metadata onto Internet. Furthermore, the SOAP-Based GIS Web services are implemented to achieve the enterprise information system integration. The contribution of ours in this project is we have streamlined the COTS GIS server, the J2EE coordinator server, the web service provider components, and the COTS web publishing tools into a hybrid web service architecture, in which the enterprise information system integration, the web publishing, and the business-to business online services are uniformed

    Abstract An integrated information system is a necessity to assist companies in solving problems for the management of business transactions. System Application and Product (SAP) application is an application that is able to provide solutions to these problems. The purpose of this study was to determine how the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Application and Product (SAP)  management process at PTPN III Sei Dadap. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study can be concluded that the administrative activities of the management process in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Application and Product (SAP) at PTPN III Sei Dadap have been integrated in real time quickly, effectively and efficiently. This can be seen from the gradual implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), starting from the preparation of global templates, pilot projects, roll out, business planning and consolidation, and finally the business intelligent dashboard. To benefit from the stored data, enterprises implement Business Intelligence solutions and technology-driven processes. The most significant advantage of BI is analyzing actionable information and data-driven business decisions for executives and managers. Since technology is evolving very fast, Business Intelligence processes are getting more advanced every day. These advancements are promoting accountability, visibility, timely actionable information, increased return on investment, connected business processes, standardized management processes and augmented organizational flexibility. In a relationship with BI, enterprise performance management provides more predictable answers on these advancements by improving planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and consolidation. Therefore, this study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the implementation processes of embedded Enterprise Performance Management Solutions in ERP Embedded BI Platforms by revealing its methodology, steps, significant milestones, and effectiveness of the organizational structure. The embedded approach is going to be maintained by Business Intelligence based Business Planning and Consolidation tool on Enterprise Resource Planning System. Embedded Enterprise Performance Management solutions consist of Analysis Reporting, Business Planning, and Consolidation. Thoroughly they cover budgeting, planning, and consolidation as an advance altogether. The Implementation of an artefact aims to satisfy market competition requirements and to compete with financial demands which are originated from the growth rate at the organizational level There are several studies in the literature focuses on the critical success factors of BI projects, but there are not many studies which are mainly focused on the process evaluation of embedded enterprise performance management solutions and their success on organizations.     Everyone is Different! Exploring the Issues and Problems with ERP Enabled Shared Service Initiatives

    In today’s increasingly competitive environment, there is constant pressure for corporate leaders to add value to their organizations. These contemporary organizations are increasingly moving into business models that attempt to reduce duplicate supporting processes and staff by streamlining business processes that are not central to the organization’s operations and concentrating on strategies on strategic or core, business processes. This concept, known as Shared Services, attempts to bundle some of the supporting processes and non-strategic activities into a separate organization, which in turn treats those processes and activities as the core of its own business. Shared Services consolidate and support redundant functions, such as accounts payable and procurement, for disparate business units. By leveraging economies of scale from a common IT infrastructure, such a group is able to market specific services to business units. Many organizations are employing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, for example SAP, to facilitate Shared Service initiatives by aggregating backroom functionality across departments. This research-in-progress paper investigates issues and problems with ERP enabled Shared Services in 19 organizations. The results reveal five main issues that organizations face in implementing a Shared Services initiative
