Reliable Energy-Efficient Routing Algorithm for Vehicle-Assisted Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks
We investigate the design of the optimal routing path in a moving vehicles
involved the internet of things (IoT). In our model, jammers exist that may
interfere with the information exchange between wireless nodes, leading to
worsened quality of service (QoS) in communications. In addition, the transmit
power of each battery-equipped node is constrained to save energy. We propose a
three-step optimal routing path algorithm for reliable and energy-efficient
communications. Moreover, results show that with the assistance of moving
vehicles, the total energy consumed can be reduced to a large extend. We also
study the impact on the optimal routing path design and energy consumption
which is caused by path loss, maximum transmit power constrain, QoS
requirement, etc.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, rejected by IEEE Globecom 2017,resubmit to IEEE

A Case for Time Slotted Channel Hopping for ICN in the IoT
Recent proposals to simplify the operation of the IoT include the use of
Information Centric Networking (ICN) paradigms. While this is promising,
several challenges remain. In this paper, our core contributions (a) leverage
ICN communication patterns to dynamically optimize the use of TSCH (Time
Slotted Channel Hopping), a wireless link layer technology increasingly popular
in the IoT, and (b) make IoT-style routing adaptive to names, resources, and
traffic patterns throughout the network--both without cross-layering. Through a
series of experiments on the FIT IoT-LAB interconnecting typical IoT hardware,
we find that our approach is fully robust against wireless interference, and
almost halves the energy consumed for transmission when compared to CSMA. Most
importantly, our adaptive scheduling prevents the time-slotted MAC layer from
sacrificing throughput and delay
Analyzing Energy-efficiency and Route-selection of Multi-level Hierarchal Routing Protocols in WSNs
The advent and development in the field of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in
recent years has seen the growth of extremely small and low-cost sensors that
possess sensing, signal processing and wireless communication capabilities.
These sensors can be expended at a much lower cost and are capable of detecting
conditions such as temperature, sound, security or any other system. A good
protocol design should be able to scale well both in energy heterogeneous and
homogeneous environment, meet the demands of different application scenarios
and guarantee reliability. On this basis, we have compared six different
protocols of different scenarios which are presenting their own schemes of
energy minimizing, clustering and route selection in order to have more
effective communication. This research is motivated to have an insight that
which of the under consideration protocols suit well in which application and
can be a guide-line for the design of a more robust and efficient protocol.
MATLAB simulations are performed to analyze and compare the performance of

Data Aggregation and its Impact on Overall QoS of Lossy Wireless Sensor Network: A Survey
In Wireless sensor network, packet loss due to buffer overflow of sensor nodes and the delay caused due to retransmission of that lost packet is a major problem. So a big challenge is to improve the delay performance along with reliability of WSN. The goal of the proposed system is to broadcast sensed data to focus on delay performance. Also congestion at collector node due to duplicate sensed data in network is reduced by data aggregation, for this we compute a function at the collector node from the information gathered by spatially distributed sensor nodes. Because wireless sensor network applications require various levels of communication reliability (CR), the data transmission should satisfy the desired CR of the applications. Here, we propose a flexible loss recovery mechanism (called Active Caching) for sensor network applications with various CRs. The proposed scheme caches data packets at intermediate nodes over routing paths computed by CR to retransmit lost packets during multi-hop transmissions.

Data Dissemination Performance in Large-Scale Sensor Networks
As the use of wireless sensor networks increases, the need for
(energy-)efficient and reliable broadcasting algorithms grows. Ideally, a
broadcasting algorithm should have the ability to quickly disseminate data,
while keeping the number of transmissions low. In this paper we develop a model
describing the message count in large-scale wireless sensor networks. We focus
our attention on the popular Trickle algorithm, which has been proposed as a
suitable communication protocol for code maintenance and propagation in
wireless sensor networks. Besides providing a mathematical analysis of the
algorithm, we propose a generalized version of Trickle, with an additional
parameter defining the length of a listen-only period. This generalization
proves to be useful for optimizing the design and usage of the algorithm. For
single-cell networks we show how the message count increases with the size of
the network and how this depends on the Trickle parameters. Furthermore, we
derive distributions of inter-broadcasting times and investigate their
asymptotic behavior. Our results prove conjectures made in the literature
concerning the effect of a listen-only period. Additionally, we develop an
approximation for the expected number of transmissions in multi-cell networks.

Two-Hop Routing with Traffic-Differentiation for QoS Guarantee in Wireless Sensor Networks
This paper proposes a Traffic-Differentiated Two-Hop Routing protocol for
Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). It targets WSN
applications having different types of data traffic with several priorities.
The protocol achieves to increase Packet Reception Ratio (PRR) and reduce
end-to-end delay while considering multi-queue priority policy, two-hop
neighborhood information, link reliability and power efficiency. The protocol
is modular and utilizes effective methods for estimating the link metrics.
Numerical results show that the proposed protocol is a feasible solution to
addresses QoS service differenti- ation for traffic with different priorities.Comment: 13 page
