    Remote laboratories in high school education: A systematized bibliographic review

    El uso de laboratorios teleoperados es una realidad en varias instituciones de educación superior. Son una alternativa frente a la imposibilidad física de asistir presencialmente y se ha extendido su uso en los últimos años. Existen pocos trabajos (dos) de reseñas que sistematizan las investigaciones al respecto, éstas abarcan un período temporal reducido. Se desarrolla un estudio del tipo revisión bibliográfica sistematizada, con la finalidad de estudiar las tendencias en el uso de laboratorios remotos para el aprendizaje en educación superior. Se logra analizar 53 trabajos encontrados en las bases de datos WOS y ERIC, publicados entre los años 2011 y 2021. Abarca trabajos de distintas localizaciones geográficas, en 6 continentes, los cuales corresponden en su mayoría a artículos publicados en revistas científicas y a ponencias en congresos, el principal enfoque metodológico de los estudios es de tipo cuantitativo. Los principales temas abordados en el corpus analizado corresponden en primer lugar a la creación de laboratorios remotos y en un segundo lugar su aporte en los procesos de enseñanza, a partir de experiencias en distintas disciplinas. Se demuestra que presentan una serie de ventajas frente a sus homólogos físicos y su aporte en el enriquecimiento del aprendizaje técnico y científico.The use of teleoperated laboratories is a reality in several higher education institutions. They are an alternative to the physical impossibility of attending in person and their use has spread in recent years. There are few works (two) of reviews that systematize the investigations in this regard, these cover a short period of time. A study of the type systematic bibliographic review is developed, with the purpose of studying the tendencies in the use of remote laboratories for learning in higher education. It is possible to analyse 53 works found in the WOS and ERIC databases, published between 2011 and 2021. It covers works from different geographical locations on 6 continents, most of which correspond to articles published in scientific journals and presentations at congresses, the main methodological approach of the studies is quantitative. The main topics addressed in the analysed corpus correspond firstly to the creation of remote laboratories and secondly their contribution to the teaching processes based on experiences in different disciplines. It is shown that they have a series of advantages over their physical counterparts and their contribution to the enrichment of technical and scientific learning.Número especial: Transformación digital y su impacto en educación.Facultad de Informátic

    Augmented Reality (AR) is a natural development from virtual reality (VR), which was developed several decades earlier. AR complements VR in many ways. Due to the advantages of the user being able to see both the real and virtual objects simultaneously, AR is far more intuitive, but it's not completely detached from human factors and other restrictions. AR doesn't consume as much time and effort in the applications because it's not required to construct the entire virtual scene and the environment. In this book, several new and emerging application areas of AR are presented and divided into three sections. The first section contains applications in outdoor and mobile AR, such as construction, restoration, security and surveillance.     Internet-enabled technologies for robotics education are gaining importance as online platforms promoting skill training.  Understanding the use and design of robotics are now introduced at university undergraduate levels, but in developing economies establishing usable hardware and software platforms face several challenges like cost, equipment etc. Remote labs help providing alternatives to some of the challenges. We developed an online laboratory for bioinspired robotics using a low-cost 6 degree-of-freedom robotic articulator with a neuro-inspired controller. Cerebellum-inspired neural network algorithm approximates forward and inverse kinematics for movement coordination. With over 210000 registered users, the remote lab has been perceived as an interactive online learning tool and a practice platform. Direct feedback from 60 students and 100 university teachers indicated that the remote laboratory motivated self-organized learning and was useful as teaching material to aid robotics skill education

    Robopoetics: the robot-lyric voice

    This thesis develops a ‘robopoetics’ for reading and writing lyric poetry. The thesis is both an exploration of the lyric voice/voicing and a cultural study of the robot as icon. The central premises of this robopoetics are these: robots and poems share lyric substance; lyric voicing renders the voicer indeterminate and lyric poems effectively make robots of poets; we can hear lyric voice in the way we hear robot voices; these voices are uncanny. The thesis first establishes the im/material substance of the robot, its status of both metaphor and ontology as anthropomorphic man-machine and person simulator. Lyric poems share this im/material substance and anthropomorphic function in that they too confirm and construct the human subject. The thesis shows that the ambiguous in/humanness of robots forms the basis of their uncanny vocal effects; it identifies a group of uncanny voice-forms through analysis of robots in popular culture and argues that, because of their material identity and anthropomorphic function, these forms can be heard in lyric poems too. The thesis expounds a view of lyric as ritual voice event and of the lyric subject as a principle of unity whose voicing renders the writing subject indeterminate, so that poems in effect automate the poet. Lyric poetry can be understood as simulation and lyric voicing as ventriloquism, so that the writing subject can neither fully own nor disown the lyric voice. These ideas are demonstrated via analysis of the work of four poets, to which the voice-forms audible in robot voice are applied to explore sounding/silence and absence/presence. The purpose of this robopoetics is not to discredit the lyric subject nor to dehumanise the writing subject; it is to suggest a modern way of approaching the lyric subject, and to seriously consider the humanity of the writing subject such as it manifests in lyric poetry

    Systematic Approaches for Telemedicine and Data Coordination for COVID-19 in Baja California, Mexico

Our model is based on human-centric design factors and cross disciplinary collaborations for scalable data-driven enablement of smartphone, cellular, and video Teleconsul-tation technologies to link hospitals, clinics, and emergency medical services for point-of-care assessments of COVID testing, and for subsequent treatment and quar-antine decisions. A multidisciplinary team was rapidly created, in cooperation with different institutions, including: the Autonomous University of Baja California, the Ministry of Health, the Command, Communication and Computer Control Center of the Ministry of the State of Baja California (C4), Colleges of Medicine, and the College of Psychologists. Our objective is to provide information to the public and to evaluate COVID-19 in real time and to track, regional, municipal, and state-wide data in real time that informs supply chains and resource allocation with the anticipation of a surge in COVID-19 cases. RESUMEN Proporcionamos un modelo para la implementación sistemática de la telemedicina dentro de un gran centro de evaluación de COVID-19 en el área de Baja California, México. Nuestro modelo se basa en factores de diseño centrados en el ser humano y colaboraciones interdisciplinarias para la habilitación escalable basada en datos de tecnologías de teleconsulta de teléfonos inteligentes, celulares y video para vincular hospitales, clínicas y servicios médicos de emergencia para evaluaciones de COVID en el punto de atención. pruebas, y para el tratamiento posterior y decisiones de cuarentena.     This paper presents a state space control technique for inverted pendulum system. The system is a common classical control problem that has been widely used to test multiple control algorithms because of its nonlinear and unstable behavior. Full state feedback based on pole placement and optimal control is applied to the inverted pendulum system to achieve desired design specification which are 4 seconds settling time and 5% overshoot. The simulation and optimization of the full state feedback controller based on pole placement and optimal control techniques as well as the performance comparison between these techniques is described comprehensively. The comparison is made to choose the most suitable technique for the system that have the best trade-off between settling time and overshoot. Besides that, the observer design is analyzed to see the effect of pole location and noise present in the system
