    THE APPLICATION OF SMARTWATCH IN MANAGING EMPLOYEE HEALTH MONITORING

    ABSTRACTWorkplace health issues have continued to increase, and this has caused problems such as increasing medical cost and medical leaves. In response to these issues, employers are starting to adopt health technology to overcome the problem such as smartwatch. Smartwatch technology is a wrist-worn device provided with a variety of sensors that are available for collecting physical activity and location data in real time. This paper aims to explore the future drivers of the smartwatch application in monitoring and managing employees’ health. The research study used exploratory research design utilizing the foresight methods. STEEPV analysis was used to identify the key drivers of smartwatch application and to develop a descriptive survey for assessing the impact and uncertainty of each driver. The survey was distributed to human resources managers of medium-sized companies in Malaysia. Technology readiness of smart watch adoption was evaluated using Technology Readiness Index (TRI). Thirty-five respondents took part in online survey. From the data analysis, top two drivers had been identified which are “social interaction” and “data transparency”. These drivers were used for developing future scenario of the smartwatch application in monitoring and managing employee health in the next 5 to 10 years. Four scenarios had been discussed in this paper which are healthy workplace environment, unattainable technology adoption, inefficient technology, and low adoption of smartwatch. This research would provide additional information about the future scenario of smartwatch application in managing employee health monitoring in Malaysia.     Modeling and Analysis of Complex Technology Adoption Decisions: An Investigation in the Domain of Mobile ICT

    Mobile information and communication technologies (ICT) promise to significantly transform enterprises, their business processes and services, improve employee productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency, and create new competitive advantages and business agility. Despite the plethora of potential benefits, however, widespread enterprise adoption of mobile ICT has not been as extensive as initially anticipated. Drawing on the extant information systems, technology management, and organizational innovation literature, this dissertation investigates the salient drivers and inhibitors of emerging ICT adoption, in general, and mobile ICT in particular, and develops an integrative ICT adoption decision framework. From this synthesis we identify four broad elements that influence an enterprise s decision to adopt mobile ICT: (1) business value, (2) costs and economics, (3) strategic alignment, and (4) enterprise readiness. The latter decision element has received only little theoretical and practical attention. In order to fill this gap, this dissertation explored the concept of enterprise readiness in further detail and identified eight key dimensions and their associated assessment indicators. Using a two-stage expert study and experimental design approach, we empirically validated these dimensions and determined their relative importance. Results indicated that leadership readiness followed by technology, data and information, and resource readiness, contributed the most to enterprise readiness for mobile ICT. The results are implemented into a web-based readiness diagnostic tool (RDT) that enables decision makers to assess an enterprise s readiness for mobile ICT. The benefits of the RDT are multifold: first, it navigates the decision maker through the complex readiness assessment space; second, it identifies potential organizational deficiencies and provides a means to assess potential sources of risks associated with the adoption and implementation of mobile ICT; and third, it enables decision makers to benchmark their level of readiness against other organizations.     Understanding Critical Variables for Customer Relationship Management in Higher Education Institution from Employees Perspective

    The aim of this paper is to evaluate the critical success factors and investigate the benefits that might be gained once implementing Electronic Customer Relationship Management at HEI from employee perspective. The study conducted at Al Quds Open University in Palestine and data collected from (300) employee through a questionnaire which consist of four variables. A number of statistical tools were intended for hypotheses testing and data analysis, including Spearman correlation coefficient for Validity, reliability correlation using Cronbach’s alpha, and Frequency and Descriptive analysis. The overall findings of the current study show that all the features were important for staff and it was critical success factors, at the same time, websites were providing all the features discussed by the theory whereas staff showed their willingness to use those features if provided. It is also discovered that implementing Electronic Customer Relationship Management can cause staff retention, were provided efficiently and needed to be improved.     Enterprise Readiness for IT Innovation: A Study of Mobile Computing in Healthcare

    This research posits that enterprise-wide information technology (IT) innovation initiatives in uncertain economic times amplify the need and importance for decision makers to systemically evaluate their organization’s capabilities, competencies, and potential risk areas that could either accelerate or impede adoption and implementation. The purpose of this research is to develop a theoretically-grounded, conceptual framework of healthcare enterprise readiness for IT innovation that will aid health IT decision makers with this complex task. We study this in the context of mobile computing which is poised to fundamentally transform healthcare delivery by improving patient care and lowering costs. Preliminary findings of our multi-phase exploratory empirical study with healthcare CIOs reveal the relative importance of several key assessment dimensions and indicators. Our research has important implications for both adopters and providers of health IT and contributes to our broader understanding of IT-enabled transformation of healthcare

    The Use of Hosted Enterprise Applications by SMEs: A User Perspective

    This paper seeks to deepen our understanding of the engagement of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in hosted enterprise applications (high complexity e-business applications) in the UK by investigating the relevance of organisational and technical factors through conducting interviews with SME users of hosted applications. The emergence and development of the application service provider (ASP) sector has attracted much interest and highly optimistic forecasts for revenues. Of particular interest in this paper is the emergence of service offerings targeted specifically at SMEs. The paper starts by considering information technology (IT) adoption by SMEs in general before reviewing the provision of hosted enterprise applications in the US and UK. The empirical data collected from SME users of hosted enterprise applications is then analysed in order to produce the key findings and conclusions. From an SME user perspective the key findings to emerge from the study include: i) confirmation that ICT infrastructure was no longer a barrier to adoption, ii) the pragmatic approach taken to security issues, iii) the use of both multiple information systems (hosted and resident) and service providers, iv) the attractiveness of the rental cost model and v) the intention to continue or extend their use of hosted applications within the enterprise. The early promise of the ASP sector appears not to have been generally realised for SMEs in the UK. This study explores the experience of early adopters of this new IT related innovation and identifies some significant business gains experienced by SME users. It also highlights the opportunity for gaining competitive advantage by using hosted enterprise applications to reduce costs. There are very few empirical studies of hosted applications which take a deliberately SME user perspective and this paper make an important contribution in this emerging field

    Preparing for Industrial Collaborative Robots: A Literature Review of Technology Readiness and Acceptance Models

However, research investigating employee attitudes towards, or assessment of factors predicting acceptance of cobots is limited. A literature review was conducted to identify reliable and parsimonious models of technology acceptance that would hold relevance when applied to cobots. Understanding and facilitating employee acceptance of such technology is important if the improved productivity, job satisfaction and cost savings associated with its implementation are to be achieved.
