The principal objective of the IPAD project is to develop a computer software system for use in the design of aerospace vehicles. Two prototype systems are created for this purpose. Relational Information Manager (RIM) is a successful commercial product. The IPAD Information Processor (IPIP), a much more sophisticated system, is still under development

    Post Boost Track Processing Using Conventional DBMS Software

    The design of air defence, traditional command control system is very challenging which has been used with basic methodologies. Traditional design is associated with unstructured and uncorrelated data and requires huge lines of code using hard disk drive (HDD) in the system. Hence an attempt was made for a better simplified database management system (DBMS) software data access methodology, which processed the incoming airborne data, message in RDBMS database to achieve full automation on real-time. The transaction is accomplished through SQL pass through method from the host decision making system into database. An algorithm of track identification during midcourse track separation was undertaken for prototype development on DBMS data access methodology. In this methodology Oracle C++ calls interface embedded query call was used from the host interface system. The purpose of this development was to find a comparison of online process timing between HDD and SSD using commercial database, and to evaluate performance of dynamic processing of RDBMS Database for identification of target vehicle and booster after separation. Produced experimentation results from improved performance of the proposed methodology on which futuristic command control system can rely.

    This article discusses how data warehousing, data mining, and decision support systems can reduce the national cancer burden or the oral complications of cancer therapies, especially as related to oral and pharyngeal cancers. An information system is presented that will deliver the necessary information technology to clinical, administrative, and policy researchers and analysts in an effective and efficient manner. The system will deliver the technology and knowledge that users need to readily: (1) organize relevant claims data, (2) detect cancer patterns in general and special populations, (3) formulate models that explain the patterns, and (4) evaluate the efficacy of specified treatments and interventions with the formulations. Such a system can be developed through a proven adaptive design strategy, and the implemented system can be tested on State of Maryland Medicaid data (which includes women, minorities, and children)

    MusA: Using Indoor Positioning and Navigation to Enhance Cultural Experiences in a museum

    In recent years there has been a growing interest into the use of multimedia mobile guides in museum environments. Mobile devices have the capabilities to detect the user context and to provide pieces of information suitable to help visitors discovering and following the logical and emotional connections that develop during the visit. In this scenario, location based services (LBS) currently represent an asset, and the choice of the technology to determine users' position, combined with the definition of methods that can effectively convey information, become key issues in the design process. In this work, we present MusA (Museum Assistant), a general framework for the development of multimedia interactive guides for mobile devices. Its main feature is a vision-based indoor positioning system that allows the provision of several LBS, from way-finding to the contextualized communication of cultural contents, aimed at providing a meaningful exploration of exhibits according to visitors' personal interest and curiosity. Starting from the thorough description of the system architecture, the article presents the implementation of two mobile guides, developed to respectively address adults and children, and discusses the evaluation of the user experience and the visitors' appreciation of these application

    EXODUS: Integrating intelligent systems for launch operations support

    Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is developing knowledge-based systems to automate critical operations functions for the space shuttle fleet. Intelligent systems will monitor vehicle and ground support subsystems for anomalies, assist in isolating and managing faults, and plan and schedule shuttle operations activities. These applications are being developed independently of one another, using different representation schemes, reasoning and control models, and hardware platforms. KSC has recently initiated the EXODUS project to integrate these stand alone applications into a unified, coordinated intelligent operations support system. EXODUS will be constructed using SOCIAL, a tool for developing distributed intelligent systems. EXODUS, SOCIAL, and initial prototyping efforts using SOCIAL to integrate and coordinate selected EXODUS applications are described

    Towards Effective and Efficient Data Management in Embedded Systems and Internet of Things

    The majority of today low-end and low-cost embedded devices work in dynamic environments under several constraints such as low power, reduced memory, limited processing and communication, etc. Therefore, their data management is critical. We introduce here a general method for data representation, storage, and transmission in embedded systems based on a compact representation scheme and some heuristics. This method has been implemented, tested, and evaluated within a vehicle tracking system that uses an in-house very low cost microcontroller-based telemetry device, which provides for near-real-time remote vehicle monitoring, energy consumption, ubiquitous health, etc. However, our method is general and can be used for any type of low-cost and resource-constrained embedded device, where data communication from the device to the Internet (or cloud) is involved. Its efficiency and effectiveness are proven by significant reductions of mobile data transmitted, as our case study shows. Further benefits are reducing power consumption and transmission costs
