    Email is one of those facilities that are often used because it provides an easy and quick way of sending an information. By using an email client, people can access email easily and quickly. Community needs in the use of email is supported by the development of rapid information technology has placed the mobile devices, particularly mobile phone as an efficient communication tool for accessing, storing and processing information. An email can be accessed anywhere using a mobile device media is one of the options that have a substantial benefit, because the benefits will email itself that are often accessed by users to communicate with each other. This final project is to make an email client that can run on mobile devices with Java support and GPRS connections. With this application, users can access and manipulate messages stored on the POP3 and IMAP servers. Access and manipulation that can be done, among others, see the list of messages, read messages, delete messages, and storing messages. In addition, users can also send messages via SMTP server.     A Dynamic Profile Questions Approach to Mitigate Impersonation in Online Examinations

Collusion is seen as a major security threat to such examinations, when a student invites a third party to impersonate or abet in a test. This work aims to strengthen the authentication of students via the use of dynamic profile questions. The study reported in this paper involved 31 online participants from five countries over a five-week period. The results of usability and security analysis are reported. The dynamic profile questions were more usable than both the text-based and image-based questions (p < 0.01). An impersonation abuse scenario was simulated using email and mobile phone. The impersonation attack via email was not successful, however, students were able to share answers to dynamic profile questions with a third party impersonator in real time, which resulted in 93% correct answers. The sharing of information via phone took place in real time during an online test and the response time of an impersonator was significantly different (p < 0.01) than a student. The study also revealed that a response time factor may be implemented to identify and report impersonation attacks.Peer reviewe

    Mobile-Based Notification System for University's Events

    Mobile phone plays a very important role in people life today; its functionality has been extended from voice communication only devices to internet surfing and data transfer. UUM as a higher education institute, hold and organize numerous events throughout the academic year and it relies on email communications for notifying its staff. Using the email notification to announce the staff for the function is suffering from two main problems which are: First, some of the staff do not check his/her email periodically, so they may miss read the notification email about the function and therefore they will not attend the function. Second, sometimes internet service is not available or staffs are at some place where they can not access internet which will lead also to make them unaware about the function or the notification about that function. This study has successfully designed and developed a notification system in order to be used by UUM to send the notifications direct to the staff mobile phones via SMS and thus helps in make sure that the notification is delivered to all interested staff. Successfully implementing this notification system in UUM will provide the university a reliable and convenient inter communication channel

    This Project is to design and develop an online learning management system for students, which will be an open source learning management tools like blackboard, which will provide an online platform for conducting and taking classes online. Where students can register for the classes and get access to the online lectures provided by the instructor that can be in any file format. This system consists of a registration module where a new student can register and login. The students who got registered will get the access to register for the course. And instructor module has the separate registration and can have access to the student details and list of students registered for the course. The student module has student registration and login, at the registration page student need to provide with all the details like his name, email, phone number and it provide a student to add or drop a course and get access to the course description and details. The students can access the lectures in the portal provided by the instructor, the lecture can be in any type for example it can be a material or video or link to the source etc. The files can be of any format like pdf, doc, ppt, video etc. There will be an assignment submission portal or link where all the students can submit the assignment and can access their grades. The instructor module will have the different registration form and after login to their portal an instructor can have access to all the student details and list of students that has registered for the class and adding and removing a student. Instructor can send a notification email to all the students and can also notify through text messages via mobile phone. Instructor can provide the lecture through uploading and updating the materials and video lectures to the system so that all the students can access to the materials provided by the instructor. And the instructor can provide record on-screen activity to students for assist with software installation and course related support, with the help of screencast tools. Instructor has the portal to post the assignments and check the assignments posted by students and grade them

    Potential reach of mHealth versus traditional mass media for prevention of chronic diseases : evidence from a nationally representative survey in a middle-income country in Africa.

    BACKGROUND: Public radio and television announcements have a long tradition in public health education. With the global rise of computer and mobile device ownership, short message service (SMS) and email-based health services (mHealth) are promising new tools for health promotion. OBJECTIVE: Our objectives were to examine 1) self-reported exposure to programs related to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) on national public television and radio during the 12 months preceding the survey (2013-2014), 2) current ownership of a mobile phone, smartphone, computer, or tablet, and use of the Internet, and 3) willingness of individuals to receive SMS or emails with information on health, with a focus on distribution of these variables across different demographic, socioeconomic status (SES), and NCD risk groups. METHODS: We obtained data in a population survey of 1240 participants aged 25-64 years conducted in 2013-2014 in the Seychelles, a rapidly developing small island state in the African region. We administered a structured questionnaire and measured NCD risk factors. Univariate and multivariate analyses explored the relationships between outcomes and sociodemographic variables. RESULTS: Of 1240 participants, 1037 (83.62%) reported exposure to NCD-related programs on public television, while a lower proportion of 740 adults (59.67%), reported exposure via public radio (P&lt;.001). Exposure to NCD-related programs on public television was associated with older age (P&lt;.001) and female sex (P&lt;.001), but not with SES, while exposure to NCD-related programs on public radio was associated with older age (P&lt;.001) and lower SES (P&lt;.001). A total of 1156 (93.22%) owned a mobile phone and ownership was positively associated with female sex (P&lt;.001), younger age (P&lt;.001), and higher SES (P&lt;.001). Only 396 adults (31.93%) owned a smartphone and 244 adults (19.67%) used their smartphone to access the Internet. A total of 1048 adults (84.51%) reported willingness to receive health-related SMS, which was positively associated with female sex (P&lt;.001), younger age (P&lt;.001), and higher SES (P&lt;.001). Controlling for SES, exposure to NCD-related programs on public television or radio and willingness to receive health-related SMS were not independently associated with a person's NCD risk. CONCLUSIONS: Broadcasting health programs through traditional mass media (national public radio and television) reached the majority of the population under study, including older adults and those in lower socioeconomic groups. With a high penetration of mobile phones and willingness to receive health-related SMS, mHealth presents an opportunity for health programs, especially when targeted SMS messages are intended for younger adults and those in higher socioeconomic groups. By contrast, due to reduced Internet access, email-based programs had a more limited reach for health promotion programs. These findings emphasize the different reach of interventions using SMS or email versus traditional mass media, according to demographic and socioeconomic categories, for health education programs in a developing country

In addition, the lack of interactivity with customers has resulted in high churn rate and improper security measures have contributed into considerable business loss. These issues are the main cause of high operational costs and subscription fees in the Pay-TV systems. As a result, this paper presents the Mobile Conditional Access System (MICAS) as an end-to-end access control solution for Pay-TV systems. It incorporates the mobile and broadcasting systems and provides a platform whereby service providers can effectively interact with their customers, personalize their services and adopt appropriate security measurements. This would result in the decrease of operating expenses and increase of customers' satisfaction in the system.     The authors discuss their experience with a number of mobile telephony projects carried out in the context of the European Union Information Society Technologies research program, which aims to develop mobile information services. They identify areas where use of smart phones can enable pervasive computing and offer practical advice in terms of lessons learned. To this end, they first look at the mobile telephone as * the end point of a mobile information service,* the control device for ubiquitous systems management and configuration,* the networking hub for personal and body area networks, and* identification tokens.They conclude with a discussion of business and practical issues that play a significant role in deploying research systems in realistic situations

    Personalised electronic messages to improve sun protection in young adults

    The incidence of all skin cancers, including melanoma, continues to rise. It is well known that ultraviolet (UV) radiation is the main environmental risk factor for skin cancer, and excessive exposure at a young age increases the risk of developing skin cancer. The aim of this study was to determine the acceptability and feasibility of delivering sun protection messages via electronic media such as short message services (SMS) to people 18-40 years, and explore factors associated with their acceptability. Overall, 80% of participants agreed that they would like to receive some form of sun protection advice; of these, 20% prefer to receive it via SMS and 42% via email. Willingness to receive electronic messages about the UV index was associated with being unsure about whether a suntanned person would look healthy and greater use of sun protection in the past. Careful attention to message framing and timing of message delivery and focus on short-term effects of sun exposure such as sunburn and skin ageing should increase the acceptability of such messages to young people. We conclude that sun protection messages delivered to young adults via electronic media appear feasible and acceptable
