    The paper proposes the solution to teaching resource application platform that applies to electronic commerce teaching. Electronic commerce teaching resource platform system includes hardware system structure and software system structure. It is an open approach based on B/S mode that provides each faculty with local and remote teaching resources via Intranet/Internet and booming cloud technology. It establishes inner- and inter-scholastic supporting teaching resource library to meet the demands in teaching practices, and includes functions such as theory teaching, practice teaching, skill practice, entrepreneurial internship, teaching resource service, laboratory management, teaching management, teacher-student interaction and etc. The paper combines the comprehensive teaching resource platform construction practices of modern business and logistics in Beijing Youth Politics College, and puts forward opinions on and solutions to construction scheme of electronic commerce laboratory and teaching resource system in colleges and universities, including construction purpose, system structure, network laboratory composition, teaching function, function of teaching resource library contents and other aspects.     Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns

    Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse

    When Cost-Efficient Technologies Meet Politics: A Case Study of Radical Wireless Network Implementation

    Cost efficiency has been a dominant perspective in the traditional IT literature. However, in complex technology and business environment, the widely recognized cost efficient assumption of information technology has been increasingly challenged. Drawing from a case study of wireless network implementation situated in a politically sensitive workplace, this paper provided practice insights for IT managers in today’s networked economy. More specifically, stories experienced in the case study illustrated that despite well-calculated cost efficiency of wireless network infrastructure, the radical implementation process in the case organization encountered enormous challenges and opposition due to the fact that administrators failed to consider various stakeholders’ positions and interests. Eventually, the implementation objectives and outcome were considerably undermined. Implications from this empirical case research reemphasized the significance of understanding political forces situated in any business environment where different stakeholders hold conflicting interests. Lessons learned from the case story further encouraged IT managers and policy makers to better strategize emerging information technology in general and wireless networks in particular as the whole global society and business environment are increasingly facing an emerging wireless world

A substantial redesign of its value chains aimed at reducing costs, providing more efficient and flexible services and enabling new products and revenue streams is imminent. But there seems to be no clear migration path nor goal which can cast light on the question where the finance industry and its various players will be and should be in a decade from now. The mission of the E-Finance Lab is the development and application of research methodologies in the financial industry that promote and assess how business strategies and structures are shared and supported by strategies and structures of information systems. Important challenges include the design of smart production infrastructures, the development and evaluation of advantageous sourcing strategies and smart selling concepts to enable new revenue streams for financial service providers in the future.     Social aspects associated with modern distance learning programmes

    The repositioning of the distance learning as a mode of course delivery is largely backed up by the recent advancements in communication technologies. It is widely visible that the modern Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) tools are being predominantly used within these distance learning environments. Primarily these Computer Mediated Communication tools were often developed with the priority given to address the structural and management issues visible within Distance Learning environments. However, the focus of any teaching or learning mechanism, distance or otherwise, needs to be able to facilitate the learner’s actual learning process. Within traditional learning and teaching environments, social aspects of a classroom setting (e.g. guidance and support, body language, feedback, interactions with other learners etc.,) are regarded as important learning facilities in addition to the traditional audio and visual communication facilities. However, these social aspects have not received adequate consideration in existing distance learning tools and have initiated a very limited number of discussions within the Distance Learning literature. Further, with specific to construction education, these social aspects may become more desired as the subjects are of a more diversified nature in terms of technological, environmental and management oriented. This paper therefore investigates the case of a DL setting within a construction school in the Higher Education (HE) sector of the UK to identify the extent to which the current Computer Mediated distant learning tools address the wider aspects of supporting a classroom situation during its operation so that appropriate improvements can be made in utilising these tools to deliver construction related distance learning courses
