Development of “small schools” in rural areas

Dieser Beitrag befasst sich mit Schulentwicklung an kleinen Schulen in ländlichen Regionen des alpinen Raums dreier Sprachregionen. Anhand von Fallbeispielen werden innovative lokale sowie regionale Lösungsansätze von kleinen Schulen diskutiert und es wird der Frage nachgegangen, welche Einflussgrössen innovatives Verhalten an kleinen Schulen fördern. Zusätzlich will der Beitrag Erfolgsfaktoren für die nachhaltige Implementation von Innovationen zur Erhaltung der kleinen Schulen in ländlichen Regionen herauskristallisieren. The bibliographic framework: orientation and positioning of bibliographic services in the information age (translation of the title). The dynamic change in the evolution of technology has a deep impact on the human society and on evolving business processes. Today’s IT solutions provide individualization in services to a remarkable extent with a very low cost ratio. Business companies and service providers especially aim at cost effectiveness and targeted solutions for product placement. The expenses on metadata production in library institutions are the objectives of this discussion and draw the attention to one of the central competences of scientific libraries. The development of RDA implementation activities and standardization are summarized by means of significant reports from the expert groups on that subject in order to carve out the chances and challenges of new library standards development. Forschungslandschaft biotische Rohstoffe: Unternehmen und Branchen auf dem Weg zur Nachhaltigkeit (COMPASS)

Sustainable production and the sustainable use of biotic resources have becomeincreasingly significant. This results in the demand by society for a sustainable useof biotic resources especially within the nutrition sector. But also their use for industrial purposes had led research and development being given the task to support our economy with conceptional ideas.In this respect, the Working Group Eco-Efficiency & Sustainable Enterprises at theWuppertal Institute with Dr. Christa Liedtke as head, has developed a research landscape that gives a general overview of the theme of biotic resources - their sustainable production and use. The working group defines aims of research andlists urgent and current research tasks on a macro (politico-economically), meso (branches) and micro (enterprises and production) level. It is necessary to take onthe challenge that a future sustainable development presents for us. That is to realizeecologically, socially and economically a triple gain strategy along the three pillars of sustainability - to save resources, to create wealth and to strengthencompetitiveness.To implement this strategy the Working Group Eco-Efficiency and Sustainable Enterprises has developed the methodology tool of COMPASS (COMPAnies and Sectors' Path to Sustainability). Its aim is the system-embracing optimization ofsingle process chains, of products and services considering ecological, social and economic aspects. This methodology has already been implemented in various otherbranches and enterprises and it is now necessary to further adopt, test andspecifically develop COMPASS as a decision tool in the vast area of production anduse of biotic resources.This is done in a dialogue- and practice oriented way and inclose co-operation with all actors of the corresponding production lines. Einfluss von Interleukin-1 beta auf die Expression und Sekretion der Adipokine TIMP-1, SAA-3, Lipocalin-2 und Chemerin in 3T3-L1 Adipozyten

Adipositas und ihre Folgeerkrankungen stellen eine wachsende medizinische Herausforde- rung globalen Ausmaßes dar. Im Rahmen der Adipositasforschung wurde das Fettgewebe als endokrines Organ identifiziert. Von ihm sezernierte Proteine, die sogenannten Adipo- kine, beeinflussen maßgeblich Insulinresistenz und Gefäßverletzbarkeit. Adipositas geht im Fettgewebe mit einer subklinischen chronischen Entzündung einher, die zu einer erhöhten Sekretion von proinflammatorischen Adipokinen führt. Die verstärkte Anwesenheit dieser Proteine ist mit den Komplikationen der Adipositas assoziiert. Die vorliegende Arbeit be- fasst sich mit dem Einfluss von Interleukin (IL)-1β, einem wichtigen Entzündungsmediator des Organismus, auf die Sekretion der proinflammatorischen Adipokine tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP)-1, serum amyloid A (SAA)-3, Lipocalin-2 und Chemerin. Die zugrundeliegenden Untersuchungen wurden mit 3T3-L1- und braunen Adipozyten durch- geführt. Es erfolgte der Nachweis auf mRNA- sowie auf Proteinebene. Der Einsatz von spe- zifischen Inhibitoren erlaubte den Rückschluss auf grundlegende Signalwege. Für alle vier untersuchten Adipokine konnte eine signifikante dosis- und zeitabhängige Steige- rung der mRNA- und Proteinexpression durch IL-1β nachgewiesen werden. Die Transduktion des IL-1β-Signals erfolgte im Falle von Lipocalin-2 und SAA-3 über nuclear factor (NF)-κB und janus kinase (Jak)-2, bei TIMP-1 lediglich über Jak-2 und in Bezug auf Chemerin über NFκB, Jak-2, p44/42 mitogen-activated protein kinase und Phosphatidylinositol-3-Kinase. Die in dieser Arbeit nachgewiesenen Expressions- und Sekretionssteigerungen von TIMP-1, SAA-3, Lipocalin-2 und Chemerin in braunen und weißen Adipozyten festigen IL-1β als einen entscheidenden Mediator proinflammatorischer Prozesse im Fettgewebe. Eine umfassende Bewertung der Funktion von IL-1β im Fettgewebe, insbesondere im Zustand der Adipositas, muss jedoch in weitergehenden Studien erfolgen

Mit Expert(inn)en aus Forschung und Praxis hat die saguf-Arbeitsgruppe Energiezukunft Handlungsempfehlungen zur Nutzung von Smart-Meter-Daten sowie zum optimierten Stromverbrauch erarbeitet

Automatische Handschriftenerkennung in E-Kreide Dokumenten

Dieser Bericht ist die Zusammenfassung der gleichnamigen Bachelorarbeit [Theimer04]. Beschrieben wird ein System, das Handschrift aus Vorlesungen, die mit dem elektronischen Tafelsystem E-Kreide aufgezeichnet wurden, zum Zwecke der Indizierung für Internet Suchmaschinen erkennt. Die Umsetzung erfolgt unter Nutzung des Microsoft Tablet PC SDKs und der Google Web API. Die Eingabedaten der Vorlesung werden eingelesen, analysiert und derart aufbereitet, dass nach Möglichkeit nur einzelne Worte und vor allem keine Zeichnungen an den Erkenner weitergegeben werden. Nach dem Erkennungsprozess werden unterschiedliche Methoden zur Selektion falsch erkannter Wörter angewandt. Im Zuge der Umsetzung eines Generators für Webseiten, die den automatisch generierten Index einer E-Kreide Vorlesung beinhalten, wurden zudem Methoden zur Integration der .NET Module mit Java untersucht
