A prototype tool to assess the functional quality of e-commerce websites
E-Commerce website is the new marketing and sales method to reach new customers.By overcoming the geographical constraint, e-commerce website allows users to perform purchasing activities without being physically present.Though many e-commerce websites have achieved great success, many have also failed.Their failures are mainly due to the
absence of quality. This study presents a prototype software tool that could assist in assessing the functional quality of e-commerce websites in an automatic manner.Unlike the currently available methods of evaluation, this tool does not necessitate the assessment of e-commerce websites by a human expert. On the other hand, the tool performs a scanning activity to allocate the existence of e-commerce characteristics.Adopting the quality model by Stefani and Xenos (2001), six different e-commerce characteristics were selected from the functional factor of the model.Three other factors identified by the model are usability, reliability and efficiency, which are not within the scope of this project.Three major script languages have been sited to be regularly used in e-commerce website development. They are JavaServer Pages (JSP) from Sun Microsystems, ASP from Microsoft and PHP an open source language.Though they share the same functionalities, they differ considerably in syntax. Therefore, this project has focused on evaluating e-commerce websites, which were built using JavaServer Pages (JSP).The objective of this paper is to develop a prototype tool capable of evaluating JSP-based e-commerce website based on the characteristics chosen. The tool is competent to perform the data collection through fully automatic means and finally generates result of evaluation into XML format
Evaluasi Usability Website Shopee Menggunakan System Usability Scale (SUS)
The progress of information technology is currently growing rapidly. Technology related to the internet is often a solution to most of the problems in existing needs, especially those related to the effectiveness and efficiency of activities and procedures. In this final project, the author discusses websites in the business field, namely e-commerce websites. In this study, the authors chose one of the most popular e-commerce websites in Indonesia this year, namely the shopee website, a website that not only offers products but also puts forward the appearance of the Shopee website which must always be considered because it is the main factor to increase customer purchases. In this study, the quality of the web that will be measured by users, especially for consumers, is based on measuring the quality of the website using the System Usability Scale (SUS). Evaluation of the shopee website is the first step to measure the level of usability on the website. Usability evaluation on the website is carried out to collect opinions from various respondents regarding the functionality of the website. In this study, the results obtained from the calculation of the average usability of the shopee website of 67.08 so that it can be said that the usability of the shopee website on product purchases has entered the OK category
Evaluating trust in electronic commerce : a study based on the information provided on merchants' websites
Lack of trust has been identified as a major problem hampering the growth of Electronic Commerce (EC). It is reported by many studies that a large number of online shoppers abandon their transactions because they do not trust the website when they are asked to provide personal information. To support trust, we developed an information framework model based on research on EC trust. The model is based on the information a consumer expects to find on an EC website and that is shown from the literature to increase his/her trust towards online merchants. An information extraction system is then developed to help the user find this information. In this paper, we present the development of the information extraction system and its evaluation. This is then followed by a study looking at the use of the identified variables on a sample of EC websites

An investigation of e-government progress in Oman: A survey of public sector workers
E-government has become increasingly pervasive in modern society and it has emerged as an effective means of delivering government services to citizens. While most early e-government efforts were concentrated on developed countries, in the recent past, it has also become popular in many developing countries. Most notably are the Middle Eastern countries that have continued to invest significantly into e-government initiatives in the last five years; the Sultanate of Oman is one such example. However, although large investments have been made since 2003 to facilitate the implementation of electronic services in the public sector in Oman, only limited progress has been made in terms of realising fully functional e-government. The aim of this paper is to identify the factors that are currently influencing the development and implementation of e-government in Oman using a quantitative survey-based empirical study in three key public service agencies in Muscat, the capital of Oman. The research identified ten different factors that were influencing the progress of the national e-government project, e-Oman, from the viewpoint of government employees. The most salient of these factors was the Omani IT workforce capability and the citizens' trust and confidence in using e-services
Critical Success Factors for Positive User Experience in Hotel Websites: Applying Herzberg's Two Factor Theory for User Experience Modeling
This research presents the development of a critical success factor matrix
for increasing positive user experience of hotel websites based upon user
ratings. Firstly, a number of critical success factors for web usability have
been identified through the initial literature review. Secondly, hotel websites
were surveyed in terms of critical success factors identified through the
literature review. Thirdly, Herzberg's motivation theory has been applied to
the user rating and the critical success factors were categorized into two
areas. Finally, the critical success factor matrix has been developed using the
two main sets of data.Comment: Journal articl

Evaluating global e-government sites: A view using web diagnostics tools
This is the post-print version of the Article. The official published version can be accessed from the link below - Copyright @ 2004 The AuthorsSeveral governments across the world have embraced the digital revolution and continue to take advantage of the information and communication facilities offered by the Internet to offer public services. Conversely, citizensâ awareness and expectations of Internet based online-public-services have also increased in recent times. Although the numbers of the different national e-Government web portals have rapidly increased in the last three years, the success of these portals will largely depend on their accessibility, quality and privacy. This paper reports the results of an
evaluative study of a cross-section of e-Government portals from these three perspectives, using a common set of performance metrics and Web diagnostic engines. Results show that not only are there wide variations in the spectrum of information and services provided by these portals, but that significant work still needs to be undertaken in order to make the portals examples of âbest practiceâ e-Government services
