Investigation of the effects of fabrication tolerances in microwave thick-film circuits

    Get PDF
This project dealt with the design and fabrication of bandpass filter centered at 16 GHz using modem thick-film technology. The rapid development of the commercial microwave circuits requires a low cost, cheaper technology to replace the old, more expensive thin-film technology. Therefore, thick-film technology is the best alternative. The effects of fabrication tolerances in the physical dimensions of various parameters were being investigated as well. The analysis of the result can then be applied to determine the trade off between perfOlmance and tolerances. It is therefore extremely important to control the vmiations of parameters in microstlip with fablication tolerances to achieve the desired perfonnance

Perspective of Additive Manufacturing Selective Laser Melting in Co-Cr-Mo Alloy in the Consolidation of Dental Prosthesis

This chapter seeks to compare the properties of samples manufactured by additive manufacturing (AM) by the selective laser melting (SLM) technology and compare with the precision casting (PC) processes using the Co-Cr-Mo (ASTM F75) alloy to manufacture of dental prosthesis. This AM process can be manufactured three-dimensional models by means of a laser beam that completely melts particles of powder deposited layer by layer. However, it is still relevant to know the properties of: performance, dimensional, mechanical and microstructural of this laser melting process and compare with a convencional process. The results of mechanical evaluation showed that the SLM technique provides superior mechanical properties compared to those obtained by the PC technique. It is possible to verify that the consolidation by SLM technique results in lower presence of porosity than PC technique. In addition, PC samples presented a gross dendritic microstructure of casting process. Microstructural analysis of SLM samples results in a characteristic morphology of layer manufacturing with ultrafine grains and a high chemical homogeneity. In this way, the development of the present study evidenced to improve the manufacture of customized components (copings) using the SLM technology

Additive manufactured high entropy alloys:A review of the microstructure and properties

High entropy alloys (HEAs) are promising multi-component alloys with unique combination of novel microstructures and excellent properties. However, there are still certain limitations in the fabrication of HEAs by conventional methods. Additive manufactured HEAs exhibit optimized microstructures and improved properties, and there is a significantly increasing trend on the application of additive manufacturing (AM) techniques in producing HEAs in recent years. This review summarizes the additive manufactured HEAs in terms of microstructure characteristics, mechanical and some functional properties reported so far, and provides readers with a fundamental understanding of this research field. We first briefly review the application of AM methods and the applied HEAs systems, then the microstructure including the relative density, residual stress, grain structure, texture and dislocation networks, element distribution, precipitations and the influence of post-treatment on the microstructural evolution, next the mechanical properties consisting of hardness, tensile properties, compressive properties, cryogenic and high-temperature properties, fatigue properties, creep behavior, post-treatment effect and the strengthening mechanisms analysis. Thereafter, emerging functional properties of additive manufactured HEAs, namely the corrosion resistance, oxidation behaviors, magnetic properties as well as hydrogen storage properties are discussed, respectively. Finally, the current challenges and future work are proposed based on the current research status of this topic
