Internet Marketing for Profit Organizations: A framework for the implementation of strategic internet marketing
Merged with duplicate record 10026.1/828 on 13.03.2017 by CS (TIS)The development of the Internet has significantly changed the face of established markets
and operation approaches across a tremendous spectrum of different industries. Within
the competitive environment of those industries, the opportunities and risks derived from
the new platform are so ubiquitous that unused opportunities quickly translate into
potential risks. Those opportunities and risks demand for a structured approach how to
implement a sustainable Internet marketing strategy that targets clear business objectives.
Marketing and strategic management theory describes very clear structural principles
towards their operational implementation. Based on those principles an extensive
literature review has been conducted which confirms the result from representative
statistics that demonstrate the lack of a comprehensive framework for strategic Internet
marketing. The distinct result of this research is such a comprehensive framework which
has been directly derived from the illustrated principles of strategic management and
Internet marketing. All major components of this generic framework are designed,
evaluated in dedicated surveys and validated in extensive case studies.
The main achievements of the research are:
âą A comprehensive review of the current state-of-the-art Internet marketing
strategies
âą Conceptual specification of a strategic Internet marketing framework with generic
applicability to profit organizations
âą Demonstration of the practical feasibility of the proposed framework at the
implementation level (via several examples like the SIMTF and SIMPF)
âą Confirmation of the applicability of the framework based upon a survey of potential
beneficiaries
âą Validation of the effectiveness of the approach via case study scenarios
Changing the understanding of a former technical discipline, the thesis describes how
Internet marketing becomes a precise strategic instrument for profit organizations. The
new structured, complete and self-similar framework facilitates sales organizations to
significantly increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their marketing operations.
Furthermore, the framework ensures a high level of transparency about the impact and
benefit of individual activities. The new model explicitly answers concerns and problems
raised and documented in existing research and accommodate for the current limitations
of strategic Internet marketing. The framework allows evaluating existing as well as future
Internet marketing tactics and provides a reference model for all other definitions of
objectives, KPI and work packages. Finally this thesis also matures the subject matter of
Internet marketing as a discipline of independent scientific research providing an
underlying structure for subsequent studies.Darmstadt Node of the CSCAN Network

Understanding and Improving Continuous Experimentation : From A/B Testing to Continuous Software Optimization
Controlled experiments (i.e. A/B tests) are used by many companies with user-intensive products to improve their software with user data. Some companies adopt an experiment-driven approach to software development with continuous experimentation (CE). With CE, every user-affecting software change is evaluated in an experiment and specialized roles seek out opportunities to experiment with functionality. The goal of the thesis is to describe current practice and support CE in industry. The main contributions are threefold. First, a review of the CE literature on: infrastructure and processes, the problem-solution pairs applied in industry practice, and the benefits and challenges of the practice. Second, a multi-case study with 12 companies to analyze how experimentation is used and why some companies fail to fully realize the benefits of CE. A theory for Factors Affecting Continuous Experimentation (FACE) is constructed to realize this goal. Finally, a toolkit called Constraint Oriented Multi-variate Bandit Optimization (COMBO) is developed for supporting automated experimentation with many variables simultaneously, live in a production environment. The research in the thesis is conducted under the design science paradigm using empirical research methods, with simulation experiments of tool proposals and a multi-case study on company usage of CE. Other research methods include systematic literature review and theory building. From FACE we derive three factors that explain CE utility: (1) investments in data infrastructure, (2) user problem complexity, and (3) incentive structures for experimentation. Guidelines are provided on how to strive towards state-of-the-art CE based on company factors. All three factors are relevant for companies wanting to use CE, in particular, for those companies wanting to apply algorithms such as those in COMBO to support personalization of software to users' context in a process of continuous optimization

Communication Management
Communication Management is an edited volume of chapters written by scholars researching various areas of marketing and management sciences. It presents several issues of marketing management within the limits of marketing communication. Starting from the issue of communication channels and basic sensory apparatus for processing information and stimuli, the book continues with a description of the issue of social media in the time of accelerated digitization. The last chapter introduces the reader to the issue of marketing communication in a sharply non-standard environment. The topic itself creates the opportunity to seek qualitative knowledge for future in-depth research into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on both national and transnational economies
Management, Technology and Learning for Individuals, Organisations and Society in Turbulent Environments
This book presents the collection of fifty two papers which were presented on the First International Conference on BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY â08 - Management, Technology and Learning for Individuals, Organisations and Society in Turbulent Environments, held in Ofir, Portugal, from 25th to 27th of June, 2008. The main motive of the meeting was the growing awareness of the importance of the sustainability issue. This importance had emerged from the growing uncertainty of the market behaviour that leads to the characterization of the market, i.e. environment, as turbulent. Actually, the characterization of the environment as uncertain and turbulent reflects the fact that the traditional technocratic and/or socio-technical approaches cannot effectively and efficiently lead with the present situation. In other words, the rise of the sustainability issue means the quest for new instruments to deal with uncertainty and/or turbulence.
The sustainability issue has a complex nature and solutions are sought in a wide range of domains and instruments to achieve and manage it. The domains range from environmental sustainability (referring to natural environment) through organisational and business sustainability towards social sustainability. Concerning the instruments for sustainability, they range from traditional engineering and management methodologies towards âsoftâ instruments such as knowledge, learning, creativity. The papers in this book address virtually whole sustainability problems space in a greater or lesser extent. However, although the uncertainty and/or turbulence, or in other words the dynamic properties, come from coupling of management, technology, learning, individuals, organisations and society, meaning that everything is at the same time effect and cause, we wanted to put the emphasis on business with the intention to address primarily the companies and their businesses.
From this reason, the main title of the book is âBusiness Sustainabilityâ but with the approach of coupling Management, Technology and Learning for individuals, organisations and society in Turbulent Environments.
Concerning the First International Conference on BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY, its particularity was that it had served primarily as a learning environment in which the papers published in this book were the ground for further individual and collective growth in understanding and perception of sustainability and capacity for building new instruments for business sustainability. In that respect, the methodology of the conference work was basically dialogical, meaning promoting dialog on the papers, but also including formal paper presentations. In this way, the conference presented a rich space for satisfying different authorsâ and participantsâ needs. Additionally, promoting the widest and global learning environment and participativeness, the Conference Organisation provided the broadcasting over Internet of the Conference sessions, dialogical and formal presentations, for all authorsâ and participantsâ institutions, as an innovative Conference feature.
In these terms, this book could also be understood as a complementary instrument to the Conference authorsâ and participantsâ, but also to the wider readershipsâ interested in the sustainability issues.
The book brought together 97 authors from 10 countries, namely from Australia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Sweden and United Kingdom. The authors ârangedâ from senior and renowned scientists to young researchers providing a rich and learning environment.
At the end, the editors hope and would like that this book will be useful, meeting the expectation of the authors and wider readership and serving for enhancing the individual and collective learning, and to incentive further scientific development and creation of new papers.
Also, the editors would use this opportunity to announce the intention to continue with new editions of the conference and subsequent editions of accompanying books on the subject of BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY, the second of which is planned for year 2011.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Innovation Ecosystems: A Sustainability Perspective
To be competitive, companies must develop capabilities that allow them to react rapidly to market demands. The innovation methods of the past are not adapted to the turbulence of the modern world. In the last decade, increasing globalization of markets and Industry 4.0 have caused profound changes in the best way to manage the innovation process. This e-book includes a collection of thirteen papers that discuss theoretical approaches, case studies, and surveys focused on issues related to open innovation and its mechanisms
Proceedings of the Spring Servitization Conference (SSC 2013):servitization in the multi-organisation enterprise
The increased data complexity and task interdependency associated with servitization represent significant barriers to its adoption. The outline of a business game is presented which demonstrates the increasing complexity of the management problem when moving through Base, Intermediate and Advanced levels of servitization. Linked data is proposed as an agile set of technologies, based on well established standards, for data exchange both in the game and more generally in supply chains
