On the critical exponent of generalized Thue-Morse words
For certain generalized Thue-Morse words t, we compute the "critical
exponent", i.e., the supremum of the set of rational numbers that are exponents
of powers in t, and determine exactly the occurrences of powers realizing it.Comment: 13 pages; to appear in Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer

Организация учебного процесса по дискретной математике и математической логике
In this paper we consider the method of teaching discrete mathematics and mathematical logic for future bachelors of "Mathematics and Computer Science".Рассматривается методика обучения дискретной математике и математической логике будущих бакалавров по направлению подготовки «Математика и компьютерные науки»
Computer Science for Continuous Data:Survey, Vision, Theory, and Practice of a Computer Analysis System
Building on George Boole's work, Logic provides a rigorous foundation for the powerful tools in Computer Science that underlie nowadays ubiquitous processing of discrete data, such as strings or graphs. Concerning continuous data, already Alan Turing had applied "his" machines to formalize and study the processing of real numbers: an aspect of his oeuvre that we transform from theory to practice. The present essay surveys the state of the art and envisions the future of Computer Science for continuous data: natively, beyond brute-force discretization, based on and guided by and extending classical discrete Computer Science, as bridge between Pure and Applied Mathematics
Flows on Simplicial Complexes
Given a graph , the number of nowhere-zero \ZZ_q-flows is
known to be a polynomial in . We extend the definition of nowhere-zero
\ZZ_q-flows to simplicial complexes of dimension greater than one,
and prove the polynomiality of the corresponding function
for certain and certain subclasses of simplicial complexes.Comment: 10 pages, to appear in Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer

A Discrete and Bounded Envy-free Cake Cutting Protocol for Four Agents
We consider the well-studied cake cutting problem in which the goal is to
identify a fair allocation based on a minimal number of queries from the
agents. The problem has attracted considerable attention within various
branches of computer science, mathematics, and economics. Although, the elegant
Selfridge-Conway envy-free protocol for three agents has been known since 1960,
it has been a major open problem for the last fifty years to obtain a bounded
envy-free protocol for more than three agents. We propose a discrete and
bounded envy-free protocol for four agents
