Context-Aware Service Discovering System for Nomad Users
International audienceThis paper presents an architecture for a system that provides nomad users, context-aware personalised services. Users might need any sort of services: information about the weather forecast for the next day, or about a museum in the neighbour worth to visit. These services are known as stateless services. More complex situations ocurre when services are stateful. Such services are, for example those which need users to be logged in (e.g. booking a room in a hotel). The question discussed in the text are those related to: i) user's privacy, ii) recommendation and discovery of services, iii) composition of recommended services into a composite service, and iv) execution of the resulting composite service
Analyzing covert social network foundation behind terrorism disaster
This paper addresses a method to analyze the covert social network foundation
hidden behind the terrorism disaster. It is to solve a node discovery problem,
which means to discover a node, which functions relevantly in a social network,
but escaped from monitoring on the presence and mutual relationship of nodes.
The method aims at integrating the expert investigator's prior understanding,
insight on the terrorists' social network nature derived from the complex graph
theory, and computational data processing. The social network responsible for
the 9/11 attack in 2001 is used to execute simulation experiment to evaluate

Big data research has attracted great attention in science, technology,
industry and society. It is developing with the evolving scientific paradigm,
the fourth industrial revolution, and the transformational innovation of
technologies. However, its nature and fundamental challenge have not been
recognized, and its own methodology has not been formed. This paper explores
and answers the following questions: What is big data? What are the basic
methods for representing, managing and analyzing big data? What is the
relationship between big data and knowledge? Can we find a mapping from big
data into knowledge space? What kind of infrastructure is required to support
not only big data management and analysis but also knowledge discovery, sharing
and management? What is the relationship between big data and science paradigm?
What is the nature and fundamental challenge of big data computing? A
multi-dimensional perspective is presented toward a methodology of big data

Dirichlet belief networks for topic structure learning
Recently, considerable research effort has been devoted to developing deep
architectures for topic models to learn topic structures. Although several deep
models have been proposed to learn better topic proportions of documents, how
to leverage the benefits of deep structures for learning word distributions of
topics has not yet been rigorously studied. Here we propose a new multi-layer
generative process on word distributions of topics, where each layer consists
of a set of topics and each topic is drawn from a mixture of the topics of the
layer above. As the topics in all layers can be directly interpreted by words,
the proposed model is able to discover interpretable topic hierarchies. As a
self-contained module, our model can be flexibly adapted to different kinds of
topic models to improve their modelling accuracy and interpretability.
Extensive experiments on text corpora demonstrate the advantages of the
