THE STATUS OF CIRCULATION SECTION IN TRIBHUVAN UNIVERSITY CENTRAL LIBRARY
This study entitled ”The status of circulation section in Tribhuvan University Central Library” has been carried out basing upon the substantive issues raised by its users about the important aspect of circulation section, its opening time and duration. There is the problem of overdue books. And questions have been raised about the clearance certificate which is compulsory for the PG students, who, in fact are not the bonafied members of TUCL. The present study has been carried out with the objectives to find out the obvious reasons behind it revealing the present status of circulation services of TUCL. This study also discusses about the opening time of TUCL, book issued and returned per year, the users opinion about over dues and compulsory clearance system for the PG students. This study has not covered the over all aspects of TUCL, but only about its circulation section and faculty members and students of other department, are not included due to lack of time and resource. This study has great significance to know the present status of circulation system of TUCL and to find out the problem faced by PG students outside the University Campus, Kirtipur.
Different literature, explaining circulation system of various academic and public libraries have been reviewed to get information related to our study. About eleven literature have been reviewed from books, Journals and web.
The study has been focused on circulation system of TUCL. However, other activities like membership, overdue, and clearance certificate services have been implicitly carried out.
Data have been collected using questionnaire method in this research. Collected data have been tabulated, analyzed and interpreted in a systematic way. Hundred questionnaires were distributed and they were duly filled and returned. 70 percentage of the respondents have said that they are satisfied with the present opening time and rest 30% showed their dissatisfaction. Majority of the respondents (76%) urged TUCL to provide more effective services. They ( 68%) suggested to improve the card filing strictly following alphabetical order. (68%) of the respondents expressed their concern about the proper shelving of books in the book shelves. Majority of the respondents(55%) also pointed the need of the library regular orientation program.
A brief summary including all the facts and figures have been provided and a succinct conclusion has been drawn. Necessary recommendation has been made based upon the study.
• Circulation service should be carried out till the library opens.
• There must not be wide gap between library opening time and circulation service providing time.
• Books are to be properly shelved.
• Cards are to be filed strictly in alphabetical order.
• Library orientation programs are to be conducted timely.
• Advocacy of rules and regulation should be properly done.
• Circulation section has to be well equipped technically.
• Circulation staffs are to be made more cooperative and users friendly.
• Some additional staffs are to be deputed in the circulation section.
• New books are materials are to be supplied in the library.
• The dissatisfied PG students of other campuses are to be reminded and explained about the reason and policy of TUCL

Microelectronics Process Engineering at San Jose State University: A Manufacturing-Oriented Interdisciplinary Degree Program
San Jose State University\u27s new interdisciplinary curriculum in Microelectronics Process Engineering is described. This baccalaureate program emphasizes hands-on thin-film fabrication experience, manufacturing methods such as statistical process control, and fundamentals of materials science and semiconductor device physics. Each course of the core laboratory sequence integrates fabrication knowledge with process engineering and manufacturing methods. The curriculum development process relies on clearly defined and detailed program and course learning objectives. We also briefly discuss our strategy of making process engineering experiences accessible for all engineering students through both Lab Module and Statistics Module series
Student engagement with self-instructional course materials : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Education in Distance and On-line Learning at Massey University, Extramural, New Zealand
This study is concerned with understanding how students engage with self-instructional
materials on campus and at a distance within the context of the hybrid course offered at ABC
College. This study examines the interrelationship of (a) time engaged with course materials,
(b) the perceived value of course materials, (c) student approaches to engagement and (d) the
integration of the course materials into the student learning experience in order to construct
an understanding of student engagement with course materials.
This study employed multiple case studies which formed a holistic collective case study. Data
on student engagement with the course materials was collected using a questionnaire
instrument. The resulting data was analysed using descriptive statistics to create a picture of
how students engaged with the course materials. Correlation statistics were used to identify
possible relationships between the items. Emerging themes were then explored in focus
groups. Subsequent analysis of the focus group data explored the causation and
interrelationships between themes resulting in an understanding of student engagement with
the course materials.
The findings from this study suggests that student engagement with self-instructional course
materials (readings, learning guide, multimedia, etc.) are the result of complex interactions
between a student's preferred approach to engagement, their locus of control and the method
of integration of the course materials. The majority of participants preferred to engage with
the course materials using a deep approach. Participants with an external locus of control
reflected the assumptions and approaches they perceived from the method of integration.
Participants with an internal locus of control engaged with the course materials using their
preferred approach unless they were convinced that another approach served their needs
better. The majority of participants exhibited an external locus of control. When a
presentation or supplemental method of integrating was used, participants were more likely
to engage with the course materials using a surface approach to engagement. They were also
more likely to spend less time engaging with the course materials and place a lower value on
the course materials. When a discussion or springboard method of integration was used
participants were more likely to engage the course materials using a deep approach to
engagement. They were also more likely to spend more time engaging with the course
materials and place a higher value on the course materials

E/Valuating new media in language development
This paper addresses the need for a new approach to the educational evaluation of software that falls under the rubric "new media" or "multimedia" as distinct from previous generations of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) software. The authors argue that present approaches to CALL software evaluation are not appropriate for a new genre of CALL software distinguished by its shared assumptions about language learning and teaching as well as by its technical design. The paper sketches a research-based program called "E/Valuation" that aims to assist language educators to answer questions about the educational effectiveness of recent multimedia language learning software. The authors suggest that such program needs to take into account not only the nature of the new media and its potential to promote language learning in novel ways, but also current professional knowledge about language learning and teaching
Organizational, psychological and pedagogical conditions for the use of e-books and e-textbooks at school
The article defines the organizational, psychological and pedagogical conditions for the use of e-books
and e-textbooks at school. The difference between e-books and e-textbooks is distinguished on the basis
of systematization and comparison of scientific positions. Content analysis is made to determine the
organizational and pedagogical conditions for the introduction of e-textbooks. The experience of using
e-textbooks and e-books at school was generalized based on the results of a regional experiment, in which
25 schools participated. The results of the survey and questioning of 352 students, 296 teachers, and 357
parents are described. The results reveal the needs of respondents in e-textbooks and e-books, identify
the advantages and disadvantages of their implementation. The main organizational, psychological and
pedagogical conditions are defined. These are educational policy concerning the introduction of e-learning
(requirements for mandatory e-textbooks, financial support for purchasing and updating, examination,
standards for e-textbooks), availability and diversity of e-textbooks and e-books on the market of educational
services, logistic, educational and methodological support of educational institutions, ergonomics, readiness of teachers, students, their parents to use e-textbooks and e-books, digital competence of teachers and
students
