In the present study an efficient Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach has been proposed for optimization of green electro-discharge machining, because it is a commonly used non-traditional machining process. Green electro-discharge machining is a MultiCriteria Decision Making (MCDM) problem influenced by multiple performance criteria/attributes. These criteria attributes are of two types, qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative criteria estimates are generally based on previous experience and expert opinion on a suitable conversion scale. This conversion is based on human judgment; therefore, obtained result may not be accurate always. These are analyzed using AHP, QFD, Fuzzy techniques etc. reported in literature. So to find the solution of MCDM problems there should be converted quantitative criteria values into an equivalent single performance index called Multi-attribute Performance Index (MPI). Selection of the best alternative can be made in accordance with the MPI values of all the alternatives. In this text, present study highlights application of VIKOR method adapted from MCDM techniques for obtaining the accurate result. Detail methodology of VIKOR method has been illustrated in this report through a case study

Temperature plays an important role in biology as a way to regulate reaction. In this study, we report the effect of storage temperature (4, 25, and 37oC) for the detection of silver nanoparticles via engineered biomolecules by monitoring the fluorescence intensity. We genetically engineered a biomolecule consisting of silver binding peptide that fused with cellulose binding domain and green fluorescent protein (GFP). This modular protein was a genetically designed peptide, possesses unique and specific interaction with cellulose as a matrix immobilized surface and can be able to capture silver nanoparticle from wastewater solution. Samples were instrumentally analysed everyday. We aim to assess the long-term stability of our genetically modular protein. This strategy was demonstrated a rapid and green environmentally monitoring

Fresh orange and strawberry are rich in vitamin C, which is an essensial nutrient to promote a healthy imunne system. Vitamin C is easily degraded through oxidation process into dehydroascorbic acid during storage. Therefore, it is important to study the factors influencing the degradation rate of vitamin C in fruit juices without any preservatives. The aims of this research were to study the kinetic degradation of vitamin C in fresh orange (concentrated and nonconcentrated) and strawberry juices during storage and how the temperature affects these kinetics. Fresh juices were stored at room, refrigerated and frozen temperature. The content of vitamin C in fresh juices were analyzed using direct iodometric titration. Kinetic study of vitamin C degradation for these juices were carried out under isothermal condition. The degradation rates of vitamin C in fresh fruit juices based on zero kinetic model were compared. At room temperature the degradation rates of vitamin C in strawberry juice were about ten times faster than those in the orange juice. At refrigerated temperature the degradation rates of vitamin C in orange and strawberry juices with sugar were twice lower than theirs without sugar addition

In recent decades, innovation has come to be seen as a crucial factor for the competitiveness of organizations. From a process little orderly, innovation has come to be systematized, with the establishment of tools, methodologies and theories. A variety of computer programs have been created to support innovation, giving rise to a new category of tools, which is being called Computer Aided Innovation (CAI). This exploratory research seeks to understand more precisely the concept of CAI, as well as identify key publications, authors, institutions and regions in which it has been developed, besides seeking to identify gaps and trends of the topics covered in the area. Given the purpose of the research, it was decided to use bibliometrics, which allows obtaining the information indicated from the analysis of the main databases related to CAI. The research consists of 217 articles, published between 2004-2013. The methodological procedures to develop the research involved the following steps: a) raise the state of the art regarding the Computed Aided Innovation; b) Survey and data collection of scientific papers on CAI; c) categorization and bibliometric analysis and d) classify and analyze the topics covered. The results obtained through the bibliometric analysis revealed that there were 378 different authors, and authors have increased an average of 34.7% from 2004 to 2013. When checking the adhesion of the Lotka´s law to the field of CAI, It was observed that 72.8% of the authors had only one publication, 15% more than proposed by Lotka, than the area of CAI does not adjust to this law. The most productive authors were Runhua Tan (complete count) and Noel Leon (direct counting). The most cited author was Gaetano Cascini. The most productive country in the world is China, with 41% of publications, as well as having the largest number of researchers (42% of total) and the largest number of institutions. However, the country with the greatest relevance is France, because the French articles had 30.4% of the citations. The more productive institution is Hebei Universi ty of Technology, China, with 16% of the articles. The institution most frequently cited is INSA Strasbourg, France. By analyzing the topics covered, it was realized that the "Idea Management" category is more developed and the category "Management Patent" is the one with the least amount of work. It is considered that this research has contributed to give visibility to researchers, institutions and countries that have contributed to the development of CAI, besides recognizing the theoretical core that serves as the foundation of knowledge of the area. The theme CAI is extremely important for the improvement of the innovation process, enabling to innovate more efficiently and effectively.

In any CAPP system, one of the most important process planning functions is selection of the operations and corresponding machines in order to generate the optimal operation sequence. In this paper, the hybrid GA-SA algorithm is used to solve this combinatorial optimization NP (Non-deterministic Polynomial) problem. The network representation is adopted to describe operation and sequencing flexibility in process planning and the mathematical model for process planning is described with the objective of minimizing the production time. Experimental results show effectiveness of the hybrid algorithm that, in comparison with the GA and SA standalone algorithms, gives optimal operation sequence with lesser computational time and lesser number of iterations
