Integrating Functional and Security Requirements Analysis using SOFL for Software Security Assurance

Formal methods have been applied to define requirements for safety and/or security critical software systems in some industrial sectors, but the challenge is the lack of a systematic way to take security issues into account in specifying the functional behaviors. In this paper, we propose a formal approach to expressing and explicitly interweaving security and functional requirements. With this approach, the functional behaviors of the system are precisely specified using the Structured Object Oriented Formal Language (SOFL), the security rules are systematically explored, and the result is properly incorporated into the functional specification as constraints. The resultant specification then defines the system functionality that implies the conformance to the security rules. Such a specification can be used as a firm foundation for implementation and testing of the implementation. Using Music as a Classroom Tool

The main focus of the project was to develop resources that will use music as a tool to improve literacy and support learning in third grade self contained classrooms. Research provides strong data connecting the relationship of music to academic achievement, language arts and improved test scores. This project provides prototype lesson plans that support grade level expectations and uses t4e Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements as a basis for the concepts being taught. A unit of lesson plans was developed that integrates music into the language arts. Worksheets, graphic organizers and a music book list were developed as resources for self contained third grade classroom teachers

More Cooperation, Less Uniformity: Tax Deharmonization and the Future of the International Tax Regime

Efforts to foster improved international tax cooperation have become preoccupied with tax harmonization. Deharmonization offers the possibility of harmony without uniformity By exploring two examples of tax deharmonization in practice and considering the origins and limitations of tax harmonization, this Article brings the traditional emphasis on harmonization into question. It then makes the case that deharmonization--cooperation without uniformity--could provide a viable alternative.
