Developing frameworks for protocol implementation
This paper presents a method to develop frameworks for protocol implementation. Frameworks are software structures developed for a specific application domain, which can be reused in the implementation of various different concrete systems in this domain. The use of frameworks support a protocol implementation process connected with formal design methods and produce an implementation code easy to extend and to reuse

A Semantic-based framework for discovering business process patterns
Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modeling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. This paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework synthesizes the idea from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse
Framework Programmable Platform for the advanced software development workstation: Framework processor design document
The design of the Framework Processor (FP) component of the Framework Programmable Software Development Platform (FFP) is described. The FFP is a project aimed at combining effective tool and data integration mechanisms with a model of the software development process in an intelligent integrated software development environment. Guided by the model, this Framework Processor will take advantage of an integrated operating environment to provide automated support for the management and control of the software development process so that costly mistakes during the development phase can be eliminated
Enterprise Information Systems and Business Process Modelling in Training and Research
The University of Debrecen introduced the five year “informatics agricultural
engineer” course in the 2002/2003 academic year. In the 2006/2007 the „informatics
and agricultural administration engineer“ BSc course has been introduced. The
courses are run by the Agricultural Economics and Rural Development faculty.
Starting of this course is demanded by the Hungarian agro-food sector,
Governmental offices, Institutes, which need the applications of wide range
informatics tools and systems. The business process modelling and management is
becoming important part of implementing and running information systems. The
ARIS is one of the leader products in modelling. The other important system is the
SAP in the ERP market. In our education program we are using these products. The
ARIS toolset is very useful for research on business modelling in agri-food
companies too
Early aspects: aspect-oriented requirements engineering and architecture design
This paper reports on the third Early Aspects: Aspect-Oriented Requirements Engineering and Architecture Design Workshop, which has been held in Lancaster, UK, on March 21, 2004. The workshop included a presentation session and working sessions in which the particular topics on early aspects were discussed. The primary goal of the workshop was to focus on challenges to defining methodical software development processes for aspects from early on in the software life cycle and explore the potential of proposed methods and techniques to scale up to industrial applications
Towards improving web service repositories through semantic web techniques
The success of the Web services technology has brought topicsas software reuse and discovery once again on the agenda of software engineers. While there are several efforts towards automating Web service discovery and composition, many developers still search for services
via online Web service repositories and then combine them manually. However, from our analysis of these repositories, it yields that, unlike traditional software libraries, they rely on little metadata to support
service discovery. We believe that the major cause is the difficulty of automatically deriving metadata that would describe rapidly changing Web service collections. In this paper, we discuss the major shortcomings of state of the art Web service repositories and, as a solution, we
report on ongoing work and ideas on how to use techniques developed in the context of the Semantic Web (ontology learning, mapping, metadata based presentation) to improve the current situation
Compton scattering in strong magnetic fields: Spin-dependent influences at the cyclotron resonance
The quantum electrodynamical (QED) process of Compton scattering in strong
magnetic fields is commonly invoked in atmospheric and inner magnetospheric
models of x-ray and soft gamma-ray emission in high-field pulsars and
magnetars. A major influence of the field is to introduce resonances at the
cyclotron frequency and its harmonics, where the incoming photon accesses
thresholds for the creation of virtual electrons or positrons in intermediate
states with excited Landau levels. At these resonances, the effective cross
section typically exceeds the classical Thomson value by over 2 orders of
magnitude. Near and above the quantum critical magnetic field of 44.13
TeraGauss, relativistic corrections must be incorporated when computing this
cross section. This paper presents formalism for the QED magnetic Compton
differential cross section valid for both subcritical and supercritical fields,
yet restricted to scattered photons that are below pair creation threshold.
Calculations are developed for the particular case of photons initially
propagating along the field, mathematically simple specializations that are
germane to interactions involving relativistic electrons frequently found in
neutron star magnetospheres. This exposition of relativistic, quantum, magnetic
Compton cross sections treats electron spin dependence fully, since this is a
critical feature for describing the finite decay lifetimes of the intermediate
states. The formalism employs both the Johnson and Lippmann (JL) wave functions
and the Sokolov and Ternov (ST) electron eigenfunctions of the magnetic Dirac
equation. The ST states are formally correct for self-consistently treating
spin-dependent effects that are so important in the resonances. Relatively
compact analytic forms for the cross sections are presented that will prove
useful for astrophysical modelers.Comment: 45 pages, 10 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.
AOSD Ontology 1.0 - Public Ontology of Aspect-Orientation
This report presents a Common Foundation for Aspect-Oriented Software Development. A Common Foundation is required to enable effective communication and to enable integration of activities within the Network of Excellence. This Common Foundation is realized by developing an ontology, i.e. the shared meaning of terms and concepts in the domain of AOSD. In the first part of this report, we describe the definitions of an initial set of common AOSD terms. There is general agreement on these definitions. In the second part, we describe the Common Foundation task in detail
Factor Price Equality and the Economies of the United States
Do New York and Nashville face the same pressures from increased trade? This paper considers the role of international trade in shaping the product mix and relative wages for regions within the US. Using the predictions from a Heckscher-Ohlin trade model, we ask whether all the regions in the US face the same relative factor prices. Using the production side of the HO model, we derive a general test of relative factor price equality that is robust to unobserved regional productivity differences, unobserved regional factor quality differences, and variations in production technology across industries. Using data from 1972-1992, we reject the the hypothesis that all regions face the same relative factor prices in favor of an alternative with at least three distinct factor price cones. Sort regions into cones with similar relative factor prices, we find that industry mix varies systematically across the groups. Regions that switch cones over time have more churning of industries.
Ship product modelling
This paper is a fundamental review of ship product modeling techniques with a focus on determining the state of the art, to identify any shortcomings and propose future directions. The review addresses ship product data representations, product modeling techniques and integration issues, and life phase issues. The most significant development has been the construction of the ship Standard for the Exchange of Product Data (STEP) application protocols. However, difficulty has been observed with respect to the general uptake of the standards, in particular with the application to legacy systems, often resulting in embellishments to the standards and limiting the ability to further exchange the product data. The EXPRESS modeling language is increasingly being superseded by the extensible mark-up language (XML) as a method to map the STEP data, due to its wider support throughout the information technology industry and its more obvious structure and hierarchy. The associated XML files are, however, larger than those produced using the EXPRESS language and make further demands on the already considerable storage required for the ship product model. Seamless integration between legacy applications appears to be difficult to achieve using the current technologies, which often rely on manual interaction for the translation of files. The paper concludes with a discussion of future directions that aim to either solve or alleviate these issues
