This paper introduces the concept of "management learning at the speed of life" as a metaphor to inspire millenials. Millenials may face three major problems in relation to management learning: lack of concentration, lack of engagement, and lack of socialization. Management learning at the speed of life addresses these potential problems through three dimensions: reflective, creative, and collaborative learning. This paper illustrates the benefits of reflective, creative, and collaborative spaces for millenials using practices from leadership and personal development courses that were offered over seven years in Canada, Turkey, and the UK. These courses incorporated the latest technology that brought the course activities up to the speed of life

The Translation of Dreams. Psychoanalytic and Poetic Devices in South African Architectural Education

There are two kinds of dreams. There are the dreams that we share, and there are dreams that are our own. Architecture, and the politics of dreams – or the dreams of politics, for that matter – form the context of this essay, and in particular how this thematized a design project in South African architectural education. In the South African context, where the past is often experienced as a nightmare, a fundamental inquiry into the precepts of architectural design and shared history has the potential to relocate repressed events of trauma. These events, which currently exist primarily in the historical record, can be translated into the present, and shown to still be active, but exerting their effects surreptitiously. This essay aims to presents brief readings of three design-research projects conducted in Unit 11 of the Graduate School of Architecture (GSA) at the University of Johannesburg. A number of projects are being developed which work through (rather than resolve) concerns of material memory, cultural edifices and politics, employing metaphors of ghosts, nightmares, phantom limbs, exquisite corpses and plastic identities. By illustrating (or designing) such conditions, the unit attempts to bring to the surface some of the historical fragments haunting the South African collective subconscious. Design-research students are encouraged to make associations more or less freely in the early stages of the design process, after which, through critique, reflexive relationships are established between designed work and its interpretation. The unit makes extensive use of allegory and figuration to create a slight distance between the students’ immediate frame of reference and the complex political realities with which the projects are entangled. This method allows students to expose and interrogate their biases and proclivities. The projects define architecture as a collective dream, condensing, sorting and forgetting our (shared) history

Creating a Tribal Law Practice Clinic in Kansas: Carving the Peg to Fit the Hole

This article will focus on three main challenges in creating a tribal court practice clinic. The first part will address creating a tribal court focus within an existing clinic curriculum. The second part will address the process of designing a curriculum for the TCPC that includes incorporating the basic doctrinal foundations of federal Indian law, as well as the clinical skills necessary to practice in a tribal court setting. The third part will offer some concluding thoughts on my long-term plans and dreams for TCPC

Silver Dreams Fund Learning and Evaluation Contract: Final report June 2014

This is a summary of the Final Report which presents the findings of the evaluation of the Big Lottery Fund's Silver Dreams Fund conducted by Ecorys.The Silver Dreams Fund was a £10 million programme which sought to address the gaps in provision by challenging organisations to come up with an innovative idea for a project that would "pioneer ways to help vulnerable older people deal more effectively with life-changing events".Our approach involved both formative and summative elements and was based upon a robust and evidence-based outcome evaluation framework. In addition, we have also undertaken an evaluation of the new programme management processes employed by the Big Lottery Fund which has been reported separately.In summary, the evaluation involved:- development of an evaluation framework and common indicators to measure outcomes;- provision of a package of self-evaluation support to projects;- programme level work to provide independent primary qualitative research and to validate findings from self-evaluations;- a range of learning activities; and- analysis and reporting

Most people utilize social media for communication, socialization, or just lifestyle. From the internet, we can get everything, start from information about the recipes to personal information about someone. This is possible because a lot of people want to share personal information on social media. All easiness which obtained from social media surely helps activity in our life. It has benefited and also has a disadvantage, if we ex-ploit it excessively one of the negative effects, we can receive is a personality disorder. Most people do not recognize this negative effect from social media utilize if we ignore this personality disorder, it can directly impact teen mental develop-ment. Therefore, it needs media that can inform recognize the initial stage of personality disorder that causes by social media exploitation. The qualitative methods were used in this study, whereas the collection of data is done through observation, interview, and literature study. The outcome data processing made into a reference for displaying information content on personality disorders. Communication design theory, visual communication design, infographics, illustrations, colors, typography, and layouts are the basis for infographic media design. Infographic visualization as visual communication media can deliver the information that is able to be accessed by the teen.
