Conflict-driven Hybrid Observer-based Anomaly Detection
This paper presents an anomaly detection method using a hybrid observer --
which consists of a discrete state observer and a continuous state observer. We
focus our attention on anomalies caused by intelligent attacks, which may
bypass existing anomaly detection methods because neither the event sequence
nor the observed residuals appear to be anomalous. Based on the relation
between the continuous and discrete variables, we define three conflict types
and give the conditions under which the detection of the anomalies is
guaranteed. We call this method conflict-driven anomaly detection. The
effectiveness of this method is demonstrated mathematically and illustrated on
a Train-Gate (TG) system

An adaptive disturbance rejection control scheme for voltage regulation in DC micro-grids

The disturbances being non-deterministic in nature, the voltage regulation control by the storage systems relies mostly on dual loop architecture with an outer voltage and inner current loop. Improvement in controller dynamics can be achieved through feed forward of disturbance profile but at expense of additional sensors and communication in the grid. This work explores the application of an adaptive disturbance rejection control scheme for disturbance estimation (without using additional sensors) employing an extended state and proportional integral observer (PI+ESO). The proposed observer aim to achieve robust disturbance estimation under grid parameter uncertainty. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme over the conventional one will be put forward through H8 and H2 norm analysis of the system. LMI-Based Reset Unknown Input Observer for State Estimation of Linear Uncertain Systems
This paper proposes a novel kind of Unknown Input Observer (UIO) called Reset
Unknown Input Observer (R-UIO) for state estimation of linear systems in the
presence of disturbance using Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) techniques. In
R-UIO, the states of the observer are reset to the after-reset value based on
an appropriate reset law in order to decrease the norm and settling time
of estimation error. It is shown that the application of the reset theory to
the UIOs in the LTI framework can significantly improve the transient response
of the observer. Moreover, the devised approach can be applied to both SISO and
MIMO systems. Furthermore, the stability and convergence analysis of the
devised R-UIO is addressed. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed method is
demonstrated by simulation results
