A Survey of Security in UAVs and FANETs: Issues, Threats, Analysis of Attacks, and Solutions
Thanks to the rapidly developing technology, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
are able to complete a number of tasks in cooperation with each other without
need for human intervention. In recent years, UAVs, which are widely utilized
in military missions, have begun to be deployed in civilian applications and
mostly for commercial purposes. With their growing numbers and range of
applications, UAVs are becoming more and more popular; on the other hand, they
are also the target of various threats which can exploit various
vulnerabilities of UAV systems in order to cause destructive effects. It is
therefore critical that security is ensured for UAVs and the networks that
provide communication between UAVs. In this survey, we aimed to present a
comprehensive detailed approach to security by classifying possible attacks
against UAVs and flying ad hoc networks (FANETs). We classified the security
threats into four major categories that make up the basic structure of UAVs;
hardware attacks, software attacks, sensor attacks, and communication attacks.
In addition, countermeasures against these attacks are presented in separate
groups as prevention and detection. In particular, we focus on the security of
FANETs, which face significant security challenges due to their characteristics
and are also vulnerable to insider attacks. Therefore, this survey presents a
review of the security fundamentals for FANETs, and also four different routing
attacks against FANETs are simulated with realistic parameters and then

An Optimised and Efficient Routing Protocol Application for IoV: A Review
Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a wireless network without a centralised administrator, where each node acts as a router forwarding data packets to other nodes. The study compares the performance of three routing protocols (AODV, OLSR, and DSDV) using the NS2 simulator under various mobility models. The proposed work introduces a modified protocol, MAODV, which combines the features of AODV protocols to optimise energy consumption, minimise transmissions, and find an optimum path for data transmission. The proposed method is compared with the standard AODV protocol. It shows better average throughput and packet delivery ratio results in a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) scenario
Wireless Network Security: Challenges, Threats and Solutions. A Critical Review
Abstract: Wireless security is the avoidance of unlawful access or impairment to computers using wireless networks. Securing wireless network has been a research in the past two decades without coming up with prior solution to which security method should be employed to prevent unlawful access of data. The aim of this study was to review some literatures on wireless security in the areas of attacks, threats, vulnerabilities and some solutions to deal with those problems. It was found that attackers (hackers) have different mechanisms to attack the networks through bypassing the security trap developed by organizations and they may use one weak pint to attack the whole network of an organization. However the author suggested using firewall in each wireless access point as the counter measure to protect data of the whole organization not to be attacked
Cooperative Self-Scheduling Secure Routing Protocol for Efficient Communication in MANET
In wireless transmission, a Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) contains many mobile nodes that can communicate without needing base stations. Due to the highly dynamic nature of wireless, MANETs face several issues, like malicious nodes making packet loss, high energy consumption, and security. Key challenges include efficient clustering and routing with optimal energy efficiency for Quality of Service (QoS) performance. To combat these issues, this novel presents Cooperative Self-Scheduling Secure Routing Protocol (CoS3RP) for efficient scheduling for proficient packet transmission in MANET. Initially, we used Elite Sparrow Search Algorithm (ESSA) for identifies the Cluster Head (CH) and form clusters. The Multipath Optimal Distance Selection (MODS) technique is used to find the multiple routes for data transmission. Afterward, the proposed CoS3RP transmits the packets based on each node authentication. The proposed method for evaluating and selecting efficient routing and data transfer paths is implemented using the Network simulator (NS2) tool, and the results are compared with other methods. Security and Privacy Issues in Wireless Mesh Networks: A Survey
This book chapter identifies various security threats in wireless mesh
network (WMN). Keeping in mind the critical requirement of security and user
privacy in WMNs, this chapter provides a comprehensive overview of various
possible attacks on different layers of the communication protocol stack for
WMNs and their corresponding defense mechanisms. First, it identifies the
security vulnerabilities in the physical, link, network, transport, application
layers. Furthermore, various possible attacks on the key management protocols,
user authentication and access control protocols, and user privacy preservation
protocols are presented. After enumerating various possible attacks, the
chapter provides a detailed discussion on various existing security mechanisms
and protocols to defend against and wherever possible prevent the possible
attacks. Comparative analyses are also presented on the security schemes with
regards to the cryptographic schemes used, key management strategies deployed,
use of any trusted third party, computation and communication overhead involved
etc. The chapter then presents a brief discussion on various trust management
approaches for WMNs since trust and reputation-based schemes are increasingly
becoming popular for enforcing security in wireless networks. A number of open
problems in security and privacy issues for WMNs are subsequently discussed

A lightweight distributed super peer election algorithm for unstructured dynamic P2P systems

For that P2P networks are used, the exchange of information between agencies is facilitated, these now being applied in mobile networks, including MANETs, where they have special features such as the fact that they are semi-centralized, where it takes peers more ability to make a greater role in the network. But those peer with more capacity, which are used in the optimization of various parameters of these systems, such as optimization\to research, are difficult to identify due to the fact that the network does not have a fixed topology, be constantly changing, (we like to go online and offline, to change position, etc.) and not to allow the exchange of large messages. To this end, this thesis proposes a distributed election algorithm of us greater capacity among several possible goals, enhance research in the network. This includes distinguishing characteristics, such as election without global knowledge network, minimal exchange of messages, distributed decision made without dependence on us and the possibility of influencing the election outcome as the special needs of the network
