    Hardware Implementation of a Secured Digital Camera with Built In Watermarking and Encryption Facility

    The objective is to design an efficient hardware implementation of a secure digital camera for real time digital rights management (DRM) in embedded systems incorporating watermarking and encryption. This emerging field addresses issues related to the ownership and intellectual property rights of digital content. A novel invisible watermarking algorithm is proposed which uses median of each image block to calculate the embedding factor. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with the earlier proposed permutation and CRT based algorithms. It is seen that the watermark is successfully embedded invisibly without distorting the image and it is more robust to common image processing techniques like JPEG compression, filtering, tampering. The robustness is measured by the different quality assessment metrics- Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Normalized Correlation (NC), and Tampering Assessment Function (TAF). It is simpler to implement in hardware because of its computational simplicity. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is applied after quantization for increased security. The corresponding hardware architectures for invisible watermarking and AES encryption are presented and synthesized for Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA).The soft cores in the form of Hardware Description Language(HDL) are available as intellectual property cores and can be integrated with any multimedia based electronic appliance which are basically embedded systems built using System On Chip (SoC) technology

    Trust Evaluation for Embedded Systems Security research challenges identified from an incident network scenario

    This paper is about trust establishment and trust evaluations techniques. A short background about trust, trusted computing and security in embedded systems is given. An analysis has been done of an incident network scenario with roaming users and a set of basic security needs has been identified. These needs have been used to derive security requirements for devices and systems, supporting the considered scenario. Using the requirements, a list of major security challenges for future research regarding trust establishment in dynamic networks have been collected and elaboration on some different approaches for future research has been done.This work was supported by the Knowledge foundation and RISE within the ARIES project

    Embedded Trusted Monitoring and Management Modules for Smart Solar Panels

    This paper investigates developing a prototype of smart solar panels. This architecture consists of a panel monitoring module and the central management unit. The monitoring module is to be embedded inside each PV panel making it secure to transfer the trusted data via Wi-Fi to the central Management unit (which can accommodate an array of PV panels in an installation). This module is required for data storage and provides the ability to upload secure data to the cloud. This platform presents the ability to securely manage large numbers of rooftop solar panels in a distributed ledger by implementing block chain algorithm. For achieving this purpose, Module 400 is envisaged to be turned into a Blockchain node as it provides the infrastructure to implement this technology
