A study of systems implementation languages for the POCCNET system

    Get PDF
The results are presented of a study of systems implementation languages for the Payload Operations Control Center Network (POCCNET). Criteria are developed for evaluating the languages, and fifteen existing languages are evaluated on the basis of these criteria

    Action semantics in retrospect

    Get PDF
This paper is a themed account of the action semantics project, which Peter Mosses has led since the 1980s. It explains his motivations for developing action semantics, the inspirations behind its design, and the foundations of action semantics based on unified algebras. It goes on to outline some applications of action semantics to describe real programming languages, and some efforts to implement programming languages using action semantics directed compiler generation. It concludes by outlining more recent developments and reflecting on the success of the action semantics project

Phobos: A front-end approach to extensible compilers (long version)

    Get PDF
This paper describes a practical approach for implementing certain types of domain-specific languages with extensible compilers. Given a compiler with one or more front-end languages, we introduce the idea of a "generic" front-end that allows the syntactic and semantic specification of domain-specific languages. Phobos, our generic front-end, offers modular language specification, allowing the programmer to define new syntax and semantics incrementally

The syntax of DRAGOON: Evaluation and recommendations

    Get PDF
Several different ways to add linguistic support for object-oriented programming to the Ada programming language have been proposed and developed in recent years. The Distributable Reusable Ada Generated from an Object-Oriented Notation (DRAGOON) language is one such Ada extension. The DRAGOON syntax is described for classes, objects, and inheritance, and the syntax is evaluated against the following five criteria: readability, writeability, lack of ambiguity, ease of translation, and consistency with existing Ada syntax. The evaluation reveals several deficiencies in the notation. A revised syntax that corrects these deficiencies is proposed

Numerical and Computational Strategy for Pressure-Driven Steady-State Simulation of Oilfield Production

    Get PDF
Within the TINA (Transient Integrated Network Analysis) research project and in partnership with Total, IFP is developing a new generation of simulation tool for flow assurance studies. This integrated simulation software will be able to perform multiphase simulations from the wellbore to the surface facilities. The purpose of this paper is to define, in a CAPE-OPEN compliant environment, a numerical and computational strategy for solving pressure-driven steady-state simulation problems, i.e. pure simulation and design problems, in the specific context of hydrocarbon production and transport from the wellbore to the surface facilities

Bag-of-Features Image Indexing and Classification in Microsoft SQL Server Relational Database

This paper presents a novel relational database architecture aimed to visual objects classification and retrieval. The framework is based on the bag-of-features image representation model combined with the Support Vector Machine classification and is integrated in a Microsoft SQL Server database.Comment: 2015 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Cybernetics (CYBCONF), Gdynia, Poland, 24-26 June 201
