This research paper studies about teasing utterances in comedy movie manuscripts. The objects used to be analyzed are teasing utterances in the form of word, phrase, clause and sentence. The writer takes the data from comedy movie manuscripts entitled American Shaolin and White Chicks. In collecting data, the writer uses observation non-participant method by selecting the teasing utterances which can be found in those comedy movie manuscripts. This research is aimed at describing forms, finding out the speaker’s intention and identifying the reason of employing teasing utterances. To describe the form, the writer uses grammatical form. To analyze the speaker’s intention, the writer uses pragmatics analysis, especially locutionary, illocutionary and perlocutionary. To clarifying the reason, the writer employs SPEAKING Hymes Formula. Having analyzed the data, the writer finds that the form patterns of teasing utterances are word, noun phrase, prepositional phrase, declarative sentence, interrogative sentence and exclamatory sentence. The speaker’s intentions are mocking, threatening, asserting, teasing, answering and expressing surprise. The reasons of the speaker are showing mocking, showing annoyance, showing teasing, showing surprise, showing arrogance, showing dislike, showing fear, and showing anger

This research was supported by Directorate General of Higher Education Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia as the organizer of BPPDN. Abstract The aims of this study were to find and describe (1) the declarative, (2) the expressive, (3) the commissive, (4) the directive, and (5) the assertive speech functions in the folk songs of Buru Island, Maluku Province. This research belonged to a descriptive qualitative study. The research data was in the form of folk song texts, informant statements, and facts in the research location. Data collection activities were carried out by observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and recording. The procedure of data analysis used  a spiral model proposed by Creswell, while the agih method was used to analyze the data. To avoid research bias, triangulation was carried out on each stage of research, research tools, and clarification of research findings to the informants as owners of the folk songs, Focus Group Discussion, and external audits. The findings of this study, namely the speech function in Buru folk songs were in the form of (1) declarative speech function prohibiting, (2) expressive speech functions praising, (3) commissive speech functions threatening, (4) speech function directive recommending, and (5) assertive speech function convincing.Theoretically, this study strengthens speech act theory because the findings of this study indicate that speech functions actualize narrative attitudes and styles. Practically, this finding is useful for universities that are related to teaching oral literature courses and pragmatic subjects. Keywords: folk songs, speech act, speech function, attitudes, styles. Customisable Handling of Java References in Prolog Programs

Integration techniques for combining programs written in distinct language paradigms facilitate the implementation of specialised modules in the best language for their task. In the case of Java-Prolog integration, a known problem is the proper representation of references to Java objects on the Prolog side. To solve it adequately, multiple dimensions should be considered, including reference representation, opacity of the representation, identity preservation, reference life span, and scope of the inter-language conversion policies. This paper presents an approach that addresses all these dimensions, generalising and building on existing representation patterns of foreign references in Prolog, and taking inspiration from similar inter-language representation techniques found in other domains. Our approach maximises portability by making few assumptions about the Prolog engine interacting with Java (e.g., embedded or executed as an external process). We validate our work by extending JPC, an open-source integration library, with features supporting our approach. Our JPC library is currently compatible with three different open source Prolog engines (SWI, YAP} and XSB) by means of drivers.
