The purpose of this study is to optimize the Bantuan Dana Desa Geographic Information System in Deli Serdang district, North Sumatra province using a document-based cloud database or abbreviated as NoSQL. The geographic information system for Bantuan Dana Desa that is designed to store large amounts of data and continues to grow each year as long as the policy on Bantuan Dana Desa continues, a high-performance database is needed to support this system to run well. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) through the stages of Information Collection, System Design, System Validation, System Improvement and System Production. The results of this study concluded that the use of document-based cloud databases can optimize geographic information systems with large data, document-based databases have high flexibility, scalability and performance compared to other relational database

Design principles for pressure moderated window frames

High performance window frames that are widely used in Europe rely on pressure moderation to achieve a good weathertightness. By separating the airtightness plane from the water shedding surface a drained cavity can be pressure moderated. As wind pressure is the main driving force for water to infiltrate into the frame, a pressure equalized system is able to achieve higher performance levels. In this paper the performance of window frames is analyzed in two separate ways: first of all experimental research was conducted on a single frame to analyze the way it functions and fails, secondly a database of the university window testing facility was used to perform a parametric analysis. High frequency measurements on window frames provide for the information to model the pressure in the cavity and render information on prevalent parameters. The influence of different elements (section, joggles, gaskets, fittings) is examined in both dry as well as rainy conditions during static and dynamic pressure differences. The airtightness of the outer plane divided by the airtightness of the inner plane is the main parameter that will determine the watertightness potential of window frames. Based on the research carried out within the framework of that program and the analysis of the test reports in the database design principles have been determined requisite to achieve adequate pressure moderation in window frames

Design and Implementation of Real-time Student Performance Evaluation and Feedback System

Undergraduate education is challenged by high dropout rates and by delayed student graduation due to dropping courses or having to repeat courses due to low academic performance. In this context, an early prediction of student-performance may help students to understand where they stand amongst their peers and to change the attitude with about the course they are taking. Moreover, it is important to identify students in time who need special attention and providing appropriate interventions, such as mentoring and conducting review sessions. The goal of this thesis is the design and implementation of real-time student-performance evaluation and feedback system (RSPEF) to improve graduation rates. RSPEF is an interactive, web-based system consisting of a Predictive Analysis System (PAS) that uses machine-learning techniques to interpolate past student-performance into future, and the development of an Emergency Warning System (EWS) that identifies poor-performing students in courses. Moreover, a unified representation of student-background and student-performance data is provided in form of a relational database schema that is suitable to be used to assess student’s performance across multiple courses, which is critical for the generalizability of RSPEF system. The system design includes core machine-learning & data-analysis engine, a relational database that is reusable across courses and an interactive web-based interface to continuously collect data and create dashboards for users.Computer Science, Department o

Implementing an Affordable High Performance Computing for Teaching-oriented Computer Science Curriculum

The main objective of this poster is to present an affordable and easy-to-use high performance cluster system that can be used for the classroom in teaching-oriented computer science curriculum. In order to address this, we design and implement an affordable high performance cluster system that is based on PlayStation 3(r). PS3 is a well-known for game console manufactured by Sony. Since each PS3 console has IBM Cell BE processor that consists of 8 Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs) and 1 Power Processing Element (PPE), it can be used as a processing node with multiple-core processor in the cluster system. In addition, the implemented cluster system has been used for new and existing computer science courses, such as CPSC 592: Parallel and Distributed Database, CPSC 590: Parallel and Distributed Processing, and CPSC 591: Parallel Programming
