Develop Best Practices for Designing Internal Business Database-Driven Web Applications

    Get PDF
When developing using newer technology, it is important for smaller information technology organizations to have universally accepted set of best practices to be able to successfully complete that type of endeavor. How can these universally accepted set of best practices be developed? Conducting research on accepted best practices can build the basis for your theories and assumptions. Next, in the context of your applications, develop an example application in the newer technology to test your theories and assumptions. Build the application like a construction project, the initial design is the blueprint, the database is the foundation and the user interface is the actual building. When you get right down to it, the principals of simplicity, consistency and user interaction are always best practices in developing applications

Strategi Pengembangan Web Services Untuk Integrasi Antar Sistem Aplikasi Dan Website Dalam E-government Di Pemkab Bantul YOGYAKARTA

Bantul District Government has been developing e-Gov applications through the development of application systems 28 and 34 websites, and the two GIS-based applications. Application system is used for internal data processing needs, while the website and GIS-based application used to display the content information to the public. One application of ICT is an urgent problem to be addressed by the Bantul regency is how to integrate data between systems and between the existing website in order to provide accurate nd consistent information. This problem arises because each application system and website are still using the separately database, and the development of new systems are always developed a new database and repeat the data entry process from initial. This paper reveals how to utilize the potential national people database in the e-ktp systems and integration in 17 priority application systems and 21 existing website. Three strategies for integration between the proposed system is to utilize the population as a master database, web services development strategies, and web services modeling strategy. By using the national people database, then the system of existing applications and websites can be communicated with each other through the mechanism of data exchange services using web services. By using a single source of verified data, then the system of existing applications and websites will result in an accurate and consistent information

Relational database of treatment planning system information

The purpose of the present work was to develop a relational database and associated applications to facilitate retrospective review of data present in radiation treatment plans. The data source was a commercial radiation treatment planning system (Pinnacle3, Philips Medical Systems, Milpitas CA), which is specifically characterized by an open data storage format and internal scripting capability. The database is an open-source, relational database (PostgreSQL, PostgreSQL Global Development Group, http://www.postgresql.org). The data is presented through a web interface in addition to being fully query-accessible using standard tools. A database schema was created to organize the large collection of parameters used to generate treatment plans as well as the parameters that characterized these plans. The system was implemented through a combination of the treatment planning systems internal scripting language and externally executed code. Data is exported in a way that is transparent to the user, through integration into an existing and routinely-used process. The system has been transparently incorporated into our radiation treatment planning workflow. The website-based database interface has allowed users with minimal training to extract information from the database

Live Visualization of Database Behavior for Large Software Landscapes: The RACCOON Approach

Databases are essential components within large software landscapes, since they are employed in almost every information system. Based on the growing complexity of software systems and a steadily increasing amount of data which is collected, processed, and stored in databases, it is difficult to obtain a live overview of these software landscapes. This often leads to an insufficient knowledge of the actual internal structure and behavior of employed databases. Furthermore, databases are often involved in performance issues within information systems. A solution to these problems is employing live visualizations of databases and related communication from applications within the software landscape. These visualizations allow operators to understand their databases in detail and to analyze database queries performed by applications. Based on established visualization concepts like the entity relationship diagrams and the 3D city metaphor, operators can be supported in the task of database comprehension. Established monitoring techniques, like dynamic and static analysis, can be used to capture necessary information from applications and databases. In this paper, we present our live visualization approach of databases and associated communication for large software landscapes. Our visualization offers two different views – a landscape-level and a database-level perspective. The landscape-level perspective provides an overview of monitored applications and related databases. The database-level perspective reveals database schemas within a database, shows contained tables and relationships, and allows for the inspection of executed queries based on the monitoring information collected at runtime
