    A Literature Review on Business Process Management

    Business Process (BP) is a set of coordinated tasks that define how to achieve organizational goals. It emerges as an efficient tool, whose main goal is supporting the design, administration, setup, disclosure and analysis of business processes, and organizations use it to identify opportunities to reduce costs, increase service or product quality, etc. The goal of BPM is to manage business processes. Organizations wish to manage perfectly these processes instead of fixing the non-ideal process setups or outcomes in a reactive manner. At present, variability management in the business processes domain is considered as a key of reuse. Process mining offers a set of techniques that retrieves information from event logs and gives companies a better understanding of their processes. Process mining has gained significant attention in both research and industry as a range of data mining tools has emerged. In this study, we will provide a systematic literature review from 2017 to 2021; we will use Kitchenham method to conduct this SLR. Data source as IEEE, ACM, Springer and ScienceDirect are used to obtain literature. We had, as a result, 51 papers from 3079 papers to complete this paper. This study aims to design and develop a point of sale (POS) application to support a purchasing service system that can help CV Berdikari owners in data management. Making this POS application begins with collecting all the data needed using observation, interview, and literature study methods, designing Model Prototyping applications with application design tools in the form of flowcharts and Unified Modeling Language (UML) until the implementation of this POS application. With the implementation of this point of sales (POS) application, it can help users who are directly related to this POS application, especially customers, employees and owners in the process of managing reports and controlling their business activities

    Savings and credits are primary activities of PT. BPR Arismentari Ayu (Arisma). However, the management of data and information of savings and credit has not been integrated, which causes problems such as the difficulty of finding information and the loss of information due to missing files. A tool for the better management of savings and credit can be integrated and optimized. The purpose of this study is to optimize the business process savings and credit. The type of research is applied research. The data analysis technique employed was a qualitative approach to data sources derived from primary and secondary data. Sampling was conducted with purposive sampling technique, and the validity test of the data was triangulation. The research began with an analysis of current business processes to identify the needs and problem that existed. Furthermore, the analysis of the results are converted into information system design with Unified Modeling Language tool. In order to understand the user petrified design, the user interface was made as an information system. The last step was the design test of information systems using validating requirement. The information system is expected to improve the quality of management of savings and credit in PT. BPR Arisma

    Process-Oriented Information Logistics: Aligning Process Information with Business Processes

    During the last decade, research in the field of business process management (BPM) has focused on the design, modeling, execution, monitoring, and optimization of business processes. What has been neglected, however, is the provision of knowledge workers and decision makers with needed information when performing knowledge-intensive business processes such as product engineering, customer support, or strategic management. Today, knowledge workers and decision makers are confronted with a massive load of data, making it difficult for them to discover the information relevant for performing their tasks. Particularly challenging in this context is the alignment of process-related information (process information for short), such as e-mails, office files, forms, checklists, guidelines, and best practices, with business processes and their tasks. In practice, process information is not only stored in large, distributed and heterogeneous sources, but usually managed separately from business processes. For example, shared drives, databases, enterprise portals, and enterprise information systems are used to store process information. In turn, business processes are managed using advanced process management technology. As a consequence, process information and business processes often need to be manually linked; i.e., process information is hard-wired to business processes, e.g., in enterprise portals associating specific process information with process tasks. This approach often fails due to high maintenance efforts and missing support for the individual demands of knowledge workers and decision makers. In response to this problem, this thesis introduces process-oriented information logistics(POIL) as new paradigm for delivering the right process information, in the right format and quality, at the right place and the right point in time, to the right people. In particular, POIL allows for the process-oriented, context-aware (i.e., personalized) delivery of process information to process participants. The goal is to no longer manually hard-wire process information to business processes, but to automatically identify and deliver relevant process information to knowledge workers and decision makers. The core component of POIL is a semantic information network (SIN), which comprises homogeneous information objects (e.g., e-mails, offce files, guidelines), process objects (e.g., tasks, events, roles), and relationships between them. In particular, a SIN allows discovering objects linked with each other in different ways, e.g., objects addressing the same topic or needed when performing a particular process task. The SIN not only enables an integrated formal representation of process information and business processes, but also allows determining the relevance of process information for a given work context based on novel techniques and algorithms. Note that this becomes crucial in order to achieve the aforementioned overall goal of this thesis

It is applied, as a process design and management technique, across all life-cycle phases of a system. While there has been much research on aspects of process-modelling, little attention has focused on post-hoc evaluation of process-modelling success. This paper addresses this gap, and presents a process-modelling success measurement (PMS) framework, which includes the dimensions: process-model quality; model use; user satisfaction; and process modelling impact.     Modeling IoT-aware Business Processes - A State of the Art Report

    This research report presents an analysis of the state of the art of modeling Internet of Things (IoT)-aware business processes. IOT links the physical world to the digital world. Traditionally, we would find information about events and processes in the physical world in the digital world entered by humans and humans using this information to control the physical world. In the IoT paradigm, the physical world is equipped with sensors and actuators to create a direct link with the digital world. Business processes are used to coordinate a complex environment including multiple actors for a common goal, typically in the context of administrative work. In the past few years, we have seen research efforts on the possibilities to model IoT- aware business processes, extending process coordination to real world entities directly. This set of research efforts is relatively small when compared to the overall research effort into the IoT and much of the work is still in the early research stage. To create a basis for a bridge between IoT and BPM, the goal of this report is to collect and analyze the state of the art of existing frameworks for modeling IoT-aware business processes.Comment: 42 page

    Enhancing modeling and change support for process families through change patterns

    The increasing adoption of process-aware information systems (PAISs), together with the variability of business processes (BPs), has resulted in large collections of related process model variants (i.e., process families). To effectively deal with process families, several proposals (e.g., C-EPC, Provop) exist that extend BP modeling languages with variability-specific constructs. While fostering reuse and reducing modeling efforts, respective constructs imply additional complexity and demand proper support for process designers when creating and modifying process families. Recently, generic and language independent adaptation patterns were successfully introduced for creating and evolving single BP models. However, they are not sufficient to cope with the specific needs for modeling and evolving process families. This paper suggests a complementary set of generic and language-independent change patterns specifically tailored to the needs of process families. When used in combination with existing adaptation patterns, change patterns for process families will enable the modeling and evolution of process families at a high-level of abstraction.     A model-driven method for the systematic literature review of qualitative empirical research

    This paper explores a model-driven method for systematic literature reviews (SLRs), for use where the empirical studies found in the literature search are based on qualitative research. SLRs are an important component of the evidence-based practice (EBP) paradigm, which is receiving increasing attention in information systems (IS) but has not yet been widely-adopted. We illustrate the model-driven approach to SLRs via an example focused on the use of BPMN (Business Process Modelling Notation) in organizations. We discuss in detail the process followed in using the model-driven SLR method, and show how it is based on a hermeneutic cycle of reading and interpreting, in order to develop and refine a model which synthesizes the research findings of previous qualitative studies. This study can serve as an exemplar for other researchers wishing to carry out model-driven SLRs. We conclude with our reflections on the method and some suggestions for further researc
