DHash frees applications from re-implementing mechanisms common to any system that stores data on a collection of machines: it maintains a mapping of objects to servers, replicates data for durability, and balances load across participating servers. Applications access data stored in DHash through a familiar hash-table interface: put stores data in the system under a key; get retrieves the data. DHash has proven useful to a number of application builders and has been used to build a content-distribution system [31], a Usenet replacement [115], and new Internet naming architectures [130, 129]. These applications demand low-latency, high-throughput access to durable data. Meeting this demand is challenging in the wide-area environment. The geographic distribution of nodes means that latencies between nodes are likely to be high: to provide a low-latency get operation the system must locate a nearby copy of the data without traversing high-latency links.(cont.) Also, wide-area network links are likely to be less reliable and have lower capacities than local-area network links: to provide durability efficiently the system must minimize the number of copies of data items it sends over these limited capacity links in response to node failure. This thesis describes the design and implementation of the DHash distributed hash table and presents algorithms and techniques that address these challenges. DHash provides low-latency operations by using a synthetic network coordinate system (Vivaldi) to find nearby copies of data without sending messages over high-latency links. A network transport (STP), designed for applications that contact a large number of nodes, lets DHash provide high throughput by striping a download across many servers without causing high packet loss or exhausting local resources.     MultiLibOS: an OS architecture for cloud computing

    Cloud computing is resulting in fundamental changes to computing infrastructure, yet these changes have not resulted in corresponding changes to operating systems. In this paper we discuss some key changes we see in the computing infrastructure and applications of IaaS systems. We argue that these changes enable and demand a very different model of operating system. We then describe the MulitLibOS architecture we are exploring and how it helps exploit the scale and elasticity of integrated systems while still allowing for legacy software run on traditional OSes

    Recent peer-to-peer research has focused on providing efficient hash lookup systems that can be used to build more complex systems. These systems have good properties when their algorithms are executed correctly but have not generally considered how to handle misbehaving nodes. This paper looks at what sorts of security problems are inherent in large peerto -peer systems based on distributed hash lookup systems. We examine the types of problems that such systems might face, drawing examples from existing systems, and propose some design principles for detecting and preventing these problems

    GAN-Based Differential Private Image Privacy Protection Framework for the Internet of Multimedia Things.

    With the development of the Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT), an increasing amount of image data is collected by various multimedia devices, such as smartphones, cameras, and drones. This massive number of images are widely used in each field of IoMT, which presents substantial challenges for privacy preservation. In this paper, we propose a new image privacy protection framework in an effort to protect the sensitive personal information contained in images collected by IoMT devices. We aim to use deep neural network techniques to identify the privacy-sensitive content in images, and then protect it with the synthetic content generated by generative adversarial networks (GANs) with differential privacy (DP). Our experiment results show that the proposed framework can effectively protect users' privacy while maintaining image utility

    Currently the peer-to-peer search focuses on efficient hash lookup systems which can be use in building more complex distributed systems. These system works well when their algorithms are executed in right direction but generally they don’t consider how to handle misbehaving nodes. In our paper we considers different sorts of security problems which are inherent in peer-to peer systems based on distributed hash lookup systems. We examine different types of problems that this kind of systems might face, taking examples from existing systems. Here we propose some design principles for detecting as well preventing those problems.
