Business and Information System Alignment Theories Built on eGovernment Service Practice: An Holistic Literature Review

The process of alignment plays a key role in the construction of dependent associations among individuals from two different groups, and the progress of alignment could be enhanced by emerging an information system according to the investorsâ prospects. The chapter presents system theory to gather and analyze the data across the designated platforms. The outcomes classify that alignment among business and information system departments remains a priority and is of worry in different ways in diverse areas, which provides prospects for the forthcoming discussion and research.Final Published versio
Digital service analysis and design : the role of process modelling
Digital libraries are evolving from content-centric systems to person-centric systems. Emergent services are interactive and multidimensional, associated systems multi-tiered and distributed. A holistic perspective is essential to their effective analysis and design, for beyond technical considerations, there are complex social, economic, organisational, and ergonomic requirements and relationships to consider. Such a perspective cannot be gained without direct user involvement, yet evidence suggests that development teams may be failing to effectively engage with users, relying on requirements derived from anecdotal evidence or prior experience. In such instances, there is a risk that services might be well designed, but functionally useless. This paper highlights the role of process modelling in gaining such perspective. Process modelling challenges, approaches, and success factors are considered, discussed with reference to a recent evaluation of usability and usefulness of a UK National Health Service (NHS) digital library. Seeing the big PICTURE: A framework for improving the communication of requirements within the Business-IT relationship
The relationship between the business and IT departments in the context of the organisation has been characterised as highly divisive. Contributing problems appear to revolve around the failure to adequately communicate and understand the required information for the alignment of business and IT strategies and infrastructures. This study takes a communication-based view on the concept of alignment, in terms of the relationship between the retail business and IT within a major high street UK bank. A research framework (PICTURE) is used to provide insight into this relationship and guide the analysis of interviews with 29 individuals on mid-high management level for their thematic content. The paper highlights the lessons that can be derived from the study of the BIT relationship and how possible improvements could be made

Collective awareness platforms and digital social innovation mediating consensus seeking in problem situations
In this paper we show the results of our studies carried out in the framework of the European Project SciCafe2.0 in the area of Participatory Engagement models. We present a methodological approach built on participative engagements models and holistic framework for problem situation clarification and solution impacts assessment. Several online platforms for social engagement have been analysed to extract the main patterns of participative engagement. We present our own experiments through the SciCafe2.0 Platform and our insights from requirements elicitation

Knowledge management: Using a knowledge requirements framework to enhance UK health sector supply chains
The gaps of mismatch both knowledge and understanding of beneficiaries and solution providers at the
initial stage of developing projects have led to the failures of many projects including supply chains
(SC) and related information technology systems (ITS) projects (Lyytinen and Hirschheim, 1987) . The
aims of this paper are first, to address theoretical framework by bridging the gaps of different types of
knowledge. Second, to establishing business requirements and the flow of information in supply chains
between beneficiaries and solution providers in the long and complicated supply chains of the UKâs
Health Sector. On the basis of brief introduction to knowledge, knowledge management and supply
chain, the paper presents a practical framework that has been developed through critical and relevant
literatures in the above three subject areas. Techniques and Tools stem from both management science
and information systems were used to provide a possible solution for the problem in bridging the gaps
of mismatch knowledge and understanding at the initial stage of identifying requirements in projects
through knowledge sharing and transfer
