    Sustainable Value Co-Creation in Welfare Service Ecosystems : Transforming temporary collaboration projects into permanent resource integration

    Get PDF
    The aim of this paper is to discuss the unexploited forces of user-orientation and shared responsibility to promote sustainable value co-creation during service innovation projects in welfare service ecosystems. The framework is based on the theoretical field of public service logic (PSL) and our thesis is that service innovation seriously requires a user-oriented approach, and that such an approach enables resource integration based on the service-user’s needs and lifeworld. In our findings, we identify prerequisites and opportunities of collaborative service innovation projects in order to transform these projects into sustainable resource integration once they have ended

    The business model: Theoretical roots, recent developments, and future research

    Get PDF
    The paper provides a broad and multifaceted review of the received literature on business models, in which we attempt to explore the origin of the construct and to examine the business model concept through multiple disciplinary and subject-matter lenses. The review reveals that scholars do not agree on what a business model is, and that the literature is developing largely in silos, according to the phenomena of interest to the respective researchers. However, we also found some emerging common ground among students of business models. Specifically, i) the business model is emerging as a new unit of analysis; ii) business models emphasize a system-level, holistic approach towards explaining how firms do business; iii) organizational activities play an important role in the various conceptualizations of business models that have been proposed, and iv) business models seek not only to explain the ways in which value is captured but also how it is created. These emerging themes could serve as important catalysts towards a more unified study of business models.Business model; strategy; technology management; innovation; literature review;

    One of the most relevant issues in the new Digital Transformation is how telcos could create new 5G ecosystems. The use of new 5G technologies enters the telecommunication market in a very disruptive way. Telcos could be prepared for another technological change since the telco industry lived many transformations in the past. With 5G and their disruptive technologies, the result will be, making telcos enter in a non-telco area. Because of that, they will need to interact with different verticals and new partners. There are many technical kinds of literature covering these new 5G technologies, but few of them, cover how telcos should manage and do business with them. Some studies affirm that The telco companies who do not understand that they must interact with others as part of the new ecosystem will eventually die. However, not all are bad news for telcos, the future is not written. There are new opportunities and considering the logical technological restrictions and the possible and realistic possibilities, there is an open space that will be defined by the decisions that will be taken by the industry. This paper aims to clarify these concepts behind the new business models which are its usages, and its roles in the information system domain. To do that, the paper identifies the terminologies used to describe new business models and reuses the previous literature to elaborate on the research. General usages, roles, and potential of the concept are also outlined. The intention of this dissertation is to be used by non-technical people. Basic concepts are explained in a very simple way to allow readers to have an overview of the technical issues needed to understand the conclusions. How to present technical information, in a non-technical way, represents an extra challenge for the author. Finally, concrete and pragmatic proposals will be offered to telco managers and CEOs, to start working in the direction towards monetization of 5G, helping them with company decisions.Master in NFV and SDN for 5G Networks. Shaping a view on the influence of technologies on sustainable tourism

    Get PDF
    To date, tourism is the fastest growing industry globally, but one of the least developed in terms of environmentally sustainable practices. However, only a small portion of documents elaborate on how the introduction of new technologies can impact a more sustainable development route for tourism. This study’s objective is to provide an overview on literature state‐of‐the‐art related to sustainable tourism and technological innovations, offering insights for further advancing this domain. We employ a bibliometric analysis and a comprehensive review of 139 articles, collected from Web of Science and Scopus databases, for the purpose of: (i) exploring and discussing the most relevant contributions in the publication network: (ii) highlighting key issues and emerging topics; (iii) uncovering open questions for the future. Our findings reveal contradictory views on the risks and benefits of technology adoption. Artificial intelligence, internet of things, circular economy, big data, augmented and virtual reality emerge as major trends. Five work streams are identified and described, leading to a broader perspective on how technology can shape the future of sustainable tourism. Relevant theoretical and managerial implications are derived. Finally, a research agenda is proposed as guidance for future studies addressing the outcomes of digital disruption on sustainable tourism.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    The study aimed to identify the level of promotion of entrepreneurship in the technical colleges in Palestine. The analytical descriptive method was used in the study. A questionnaire of 41 items was randomly distributed to the technical colleges in the Gaza Strip. The random sample consisted of (275) employees from the mentioned colleges, and the response rate were (74.5%). The results of the study showed that the technical colleges achieved a high level of promotion of entrepreneurship with a relative weight of 73.45%. The results of the study showed that there is a high level of promotion of entrepreneurship (risk, preparedness, proactive competition, innovation orientation) in the technical colleges in Gaza Strip. The field of competition came in first place with a relative weight of 76.65%. In the second place came the field (the trend towards innovation) and relative weight (74.96%). In the third place came the field of pre-emptive preparedness with a relative weight of 74.07%. In the fourth and last place came the field of risk and a relative weight of 68.39%. The results confirmed that there are statistically significant differences in the promotion of entrepreneurship in the technical colleges in Gaza Strip due to the college variable in favor of UCAS. The results confirmed that there is no statistically significant relationship in the promotion of entrepreneurship in technical colleges in Gaza Strip due to the variable level of employment. The researchers suggest a set of recommendations, the most important of which is to draw the attention of the technical colleges to the importance of promoting entrepreneurship, because of their role in reducing the problem of unemployment, the importance of linking technical education and promoting entrepreneurship to the Palestinian society in general and Gaza Strip in particular. The importance of urging decision-makers in technical colleges to promote interest in leadership and to put their own courses in all technical education programs in these colleges, as well as enhancing the technical, technological and technical capabilities of technical education and keeping pace with the latest international standards by providing the necessary material resources. There is a need to urge researchers to conduct further studies of the future which deal with the same variables of the current study in the field of entrepreneurship and applied to other sectors

    Key Success Factors for 5G Technology Commercialization in Telecommunication Company Case Study of an Established XYZ Company in Indonesia

    Get PDF
    Abstract. Technology commercialization is the long process to bring technology from the research domain into the commercialization area to end-users with monetizing purposes. This study analyzes critical success factors for 5G technology commercialization in an established company in Indonesia. By defining the most significant factors, a company can strategize the most effective investments to important factors only and avoid other less meaningful areas. 5G is approaching fast, and some of the major early adopters Mobile Network Operators (MNO) have already deployed 5G within this year. However, some other MNOs or telecom companies, in general, remain skeptical, considering the wide range of new business cases, the readiness of industries, and twice significant capital investment compare to predecessor technology 4G. This study is based on interpretivism philosophy and uses Qualitative semi-structured in-depth interviews, observation, and deductive scenario planning as the methodology. Use cases, innovation ecosystem, and technology complementary are found to be the key success factors for 5G commercialization in an established company. The novelty of this study is to identify the key success factors for technology commercialization specific for the 5G technology context in Indonesia. Three axes deductive scenario planning using critical success factors as the uncertainties are considered as the originality of this study.Keywords:  Key success factors, technology commercialization, established company, 5

    "Soil Return"

    The circular economy is currently one of the European Union’s great strategic objectives, as it aims to achieve environmental, social and economic sustainability, without compromising the future of the European territory and the human communities that inhabit and interact with it. The consumption and subsequent production of domestic waste of families in industrialized countries has been gaining more prominence as one of the leading factors in modifiable pollution (UNEP 2010 – see Barbarrossa 2016). “Soil Return” is born as a solution to this issue. “Soil Return” is a user-oriented environmental technology project that consists of a small, easy-to-install and odorless container, which enables the rapid treatment of food residue produced in the preparation of home meals or in professional kitchens, through the compression and reduction of residue as well as the reuse of water in other applications. This project sets out to create a Business Plan based on the Business Model Canvas methodology proposed by Osterwalder and Pigneur (2011), which aims to evaluate the viability of the product, and a Business Management Plan conceived to allow a regular adaptation of the business model to the evolution of external circumstances, raising key questions and highlighting elements that could represent competitive advantages justified by Porter’s five forces.A economia circular Ă© atualmente um dos grandes objetivos estratĂ©gicos da UniĂŁo Europeia, pois visa a sustentabilidade ambiental, social e econĂłmica, sem comprometer o futuro do territĂłrio europeu e das comunidades humanas que nele habitam e com ele interagem. O consumo e a consequente produção de resĂduos domĂ©sticos de famĂlias em paĂses industrializados tem ganhado mais destaque como um dos principais fatores na poluição modificĂĄvel (UNEP 2010 - ver Barbarrossa 2016). “Soil Return” nasce como uma solução para este problema. O “Soil Return” Ă© um projeto de tecnologia ambiental voltado para o consumidor que consiste num recipiente pequeno, fĂĄcil de instalar e inodoro que possibilita o tratamento rĂĄpido de resĂduos alimentares produzidos na preparação de refeiçÔes caseiras ou em cozinhas profissionais, atravĂ©s da compressĂŁo e redução de resĂduos e reaproveitamento de ĂĄgua em outras aplicaçÔes. Este projeto premitiu criar um Plano de NegĂłcios baseado na metodologia Business Model Canvas proposta por Osterwalder e Pigneur (2011), que visa avaliar a viabilidade do produto, e um Plano de GestĂŁo de NegĂłcios concebido para permitir uma adaptação regular do modelo de negĂłcio Ă  evolução das circunstĂąncias externas, levantando questĂ”es-chave e destacando elementos que possam representar vantagens competitivas justificadas pelas cinco forças de Porter

    The real SAPÂź Business one cost : a case study of ERP adoption in an SME

    Get PDF
    This paper reports on a UK based service management Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) that invested into SAP¼ Business One. The action research case study highlights the real cost and difficulties faced in moving to the one single SAP system and the process that was followed in order to identify third-party vendors that can integrate or customise SAP¼ Business One. This paper highlights the additional costs required to ensure a ‘fit-for-purpose’ solution to close the gap between strategic needs and the existing SAP Business One solution. The gap itself is illustrated by highlighting 10 key functionalities expected by the given service management SME. The actual implementation cost of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) was found to be approximately double the initial SAP costs. The real costs involve time for, among other things, process reengineering, strategic decision making, software add-ons, staff-training, project-management and software maintenance
