Towards a Taxonomy for Data-Driven Digital Services
Digitization is transforming every domain nowadays, leading to a growing body of knowledge on digital service innovation. Coupled with the generation and collection of big data, data-driven digital services are becoming of great importance to business, economy and society. This paper aims to classify the different types of data-driven digital services, as a first step to understand their characteristics and dynamics. A taxonomy is developed and the emerging characteristics include data acquisition mechanisms, data exploitation, insights utilization, and service interaction characteristics. The examined services fall into 15 distinct types and are further clustered into 3 classes of types: distributed analytics intermediaries, visual data-driven services, and analytics-embedded services.Ă Such contribution enables service designers and providers to understand the key aspects in utilizing data and analytics in the design and delivery of their services. The taxonomy is set out to shape the direction and scope of scholarly discourse around digital service innovation research and practice
Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns
Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse
The First 25 Years of the Bled eConference: Themes and Impacts
The Bled eConference is the longest-running themed conference associated with the Information Systems discipline. The focus throughout its first quarter-century has been the application of electronic tools, migrating progressively from Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) via Inter-Organisational Systems (IOS) and eCommerce to encompass all aspects of the use of networking facilities in industry and government, and more recently by individuals, groups and society as a whole. This paper reports on an examination of the conference titles and of the titles and abstracts of the 773 refereed papers published in the Proceedings since 1995. This identified a long and strong focus on categories of electronic business and corporate perspectives, which has broadened in recent years to encompass the democratic, the social and the personal. The conference\u27s extend well beyond the papers and their thousands of citations and tens of thousands of downloads. Other impacts have included innovative forms of support for the development of large numbers of graduate students, and the many international research collaborations that have been conceived and developed in a beautiful lake-side setting in Slovenia
Mapping the Metaverse â Knowledge Generation Structures in a Nascent Ecosystem
The so called Metaverse is among the most popular emerging themes in contemporary business and academic discourses related to digital transformation. Beside the hype and buzz around the topic, recent research has established important progress related to the technical foundations and use-case scenarios. However, the preconditions to manifest these promising potentials, that is the underlying socio-technical ecosystem, is, to date, not well-understood. In particular, we still do not know much about the key building blocks of technical knowledge and who creates this knowledge base necessary for the Metaverse. Therefore, in this study, employing cluster-analysis to a complex dataset involving 2297 Metaverse-patents, we reveal key areas of technological knowledge as well as important actor groups shaping the development of the knowledge base. Building upon these inductively derived knowledge generation structures, we discuss important implications for managers and academics and propose an Information Systems research agenda to further explore the emerging Metaverse ecosystem

Challenges and opportunities of mobile payments innovations
Innovation in financial services is a major trend on the sector and the payments industry is no
exception to that. New ways of paying, as mobile payments, are emerging and changing the
payments market. Non-financial institutions are entering the market through the provision of
mobile payments, threatening the dominant position banks hold in the industry. This thesis aim
is to analyze mobile payments as a service innovation, primarily through the spectrum of banks
as old incumbents in this market. To understand the traits and main characteristics of these
products, as well as how innovation in mobile payments is changing or even creating a new
market.
The results of the study suggest that we are facing a radical innovation, according to the Gallouj
and Weinstein (1997) modes and models of innovation, as there is a completely new system
behind mobile payments services. This innovation is assuming different forms and is still hard
to infer if mobile payments are creating a new market, as these kind of services are still majorly
seen by experts in the area, who were interviewed for this study, as a complement to other ways
of paying, regardless of being a complete new system with different competences needed for
operating. With regard to the new and different providers of these services operating in the
market, it was found that they can be segmented into three clusters with different characteristics:
Banks, which are the traditional incumbents of this market; Mobile Network Operators &
Manufacturers, which are extremely focused on technology and data; Others, which include
companies from other sectors, fintechs or other startups, characterized by being very innovative
and flexible. These new services come with new market dynamics involving companies that
traditionally were not associated with the provision of financial services, and threatening the

ter implicaçÔes nos mercados financeiros, e em particular nos serviços de pagamentos. Vårias
instituiçÔes não financeiras estão a entrar no mercado através da criação de novos serviços de
pagamentos mĂłveis, ameaçando a posição dominante que os bancos possuĂam na ĂĄrea. Esta tese
tem como objetivo analisar os pagamentos móveis enquanto uma inovação em serviços,
focando principalmente a perspetiva dos bancos que tradicionalmente possuĂam uma posição
dominante neste mercado. A tese pretende entender e discutir as principais caracterĂsticas destes
produtos inovadores de pagamentos móveis, bem como se estes novos serviços estão a mudar
ou mesmo a criar um novo mercado. Os resultados deste estudo sugerem que estamos perante uma inovação radical, pois de acordo com os modos e modelos de inovação de Gallouj e Weinstein (1997), os serviços de pagamentos mĂłveis sĂŁo um novo sistema de pagamentos. Esta inovação tem assumido diferentes formas, havendo ainda um elevado grau de ambiguidade quanto Ă sua capacidade de geração de um novo mercado, jĂĄ que este tipo de serviços sĂŁo considerados por especialistas da ĂĄrea, que foram entrevistados no Ăąmbito deste estudo, como um complemento a outros mĂ©todos de pagamento. Isto, apesar de se tratar de um sistema novo com diferentes competĂȘncias necessĂĄrias Ă sua execução e utilização. O estudo conclui que os fornecedores destes serviços podem ser segmentados em trĂȘs clusters com diferentes caracterĂsticas: Bancos, os tradicionais incumbentes deste mercado; Fabricantes e Operadores de redes mĂłveis, que sĂŁo extremamente focados em tecnologia e data; Outros, incluindo empresas de outros sectores, fintechs e outras start-ups, caracterizados por serem extremamente inovadores e flexĂveis. A Study on Variables, Technology Facilitators and Measures of Value Co-creation for Management
Value co-creation in this research is to comprehend what facilitates internal or external customers in pursuing creative, inclusive and intellectual interactions. This research consists of two studies. Study I seeks to determine which variables, technology facilitators and measures of value co-creation appear in the literature using a systematic literature study. Study II is an empirical study that uses the results of Study I and evaluates how the co-creation of value is utilized by 135 industry respondents in India.
The main theoretical contribution of this quantitative research is that intellectual, social and economic motivation facilitates value co-creation process, and impacts on the 25 outcomes of value co-creation.
The empirical study suggests that the potential of value co-creation has not been fully utilized in the companies. Companies need to conduct an audit as to what extent they have implemented value co-creation in order to promote innovations in products and services and further conceive a plan of action based on the results.TÀmÀ tutkimus ymmÀrtÀÀ arvoa luovan yhteiskehittÀmisen sellaisena toimintana, joka pyrkii sisÀisten ja ulkoisten asiakkaiden kanssa tehtÀvÀÀn luovaan, kokonaisvaltaiseen ja Àlylliseen vuorovaikutukseen. MÀÀrÀllisen tutkimuksen pÀÀtuloksen mukaan Àlyllinen vuorovaikutus-, yhteistyö- ja taloudellinen motivaatio edesauttavat arvoa luovan yhteiskehittÀmisen prosessia ja edistÀvÀt arvoa luovan yhteiskehittÀmisen 25 hyödyn toteutumista.
Empiirinen tutkimus antaa viitteitÀ siitÀ, etteivÀt yritykset tÀysimÀÀrÀisesti hyödynnÀ arvoa luovan yhteiskehittÀmisen mahdollisuuksia.
