    Cooperative optimal preview tracking for linear descriptor multi-agent systems

In this paper, a cooperative optimal preview tracking problem is considered for continuous-time descriptor multi-agent systems with a directed topology containing a spanning tree. By the acyclic assumption and state augmentation technique, it is shown that the cooperative tracking problem is equivalent to local optimal regulation problems of a set of low-dimensional descriptor augmented subsystems. To design distributed optimal preview controllers, restricted system equivalent (r.s.e.) and preview control theory are first exploited to obtain optimal preview controllers for reduced-order normal subsystems. Then, by using the invertibility of restricted equivalent relations, a constructive method for designing distributed controller is presented which also yields an explicit admissible solution for the generalized algebraic Riccati equation. Sufficient conditions for achieving global cooperative preview tracking are proposed proving that the distributed controllers are able to stabilize the descriptor augmented subsystems asymptotically. Finally, the validity of the theoretical results is illustrated via numerical simulation

This paper investigates the cooperative global optimal preview tracking problem of linear multi-agent systems under the assumption that the output of a leader is a previewable periodic signal and the topology graph contains a directed spanning tree. First, a type of distributed internal model is introduced, and the cooperative preview tracking problem is converted to a global optimal regulation problem of an augmented system. Second, an optimal controller, which can guarantee the asymptotic stability of the augmented system, is obtained by means of the standard linear quadratic optimal preview control theory. Third, on the basis of proving the existence conditions of the controller, sufficient conditions are given for the original problem to be solvable, meanwhile a cooperative global optimal controller with error integral and preview compensation is derived. Finally, the validity of theoretical results is demonstrated by a numerical simulation

    Involvement of Sulfur in the Biosynthesis of Essential Metabolites in Pathogenic Fungi of Animals, Particularly Aspergillus spp. : Molecular and Therapeutic Implications

    Fungal sulfur uptake is required for incorporation into the sidechains of the amino acids cysteine and methionine, and is also essential for the biosynthesis of the antioxidant glutathione (GSH), S-adenosylmethionine (SAM), the key source of methyl groups in cellular transmethylation reactions, and S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH). Biosynthesis of redox-active gliotoxin in the opportunistic fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus has been elucidated over the past 10 years. Some fungi which produce gliotoxin-like molecular species have undergone unexpected molecular rewiring to accommodate this high-risk biosynthetic process. Specific disruption of gliotoxin biosynthesis, via deletion of gliK, which encodes a γ-glutamyl cyclotransferase, leads to elevated intracellular antioxidant, ergothioneine (EGT), levels, and confirms crosstalk between the biosynthesis of both sulfur-containing moieties. Gliotoxin is ultimately formed by gliotoxin oxidoreductase GliT-mediated oxidation of dithiol gliotoxin (DTG). In fact, DTG is a substrate for both GliT and a bis-thiomethyltransferase, GtmA. GtmA converts DTG to bisdethiobis(methylthio)gliotoxin (BmGT), using 2 mol SAM and resultant SAH must be re-converted to SAM via the action of the Methyl/Met cycle. In the absence of GliT, DTG fluxes via GtmA to BmGT, which results in both SAM depletion and SAH overproduction. Thus, the negative regulation of gliotoxin biosynthesis via GtmA must be counter-balanced by GliT activity to avoid Methyl/Met cycle dysregulation, SAM depletion and trans consequences on global cellular biochemistry in A. fumigatus. DTG also possesses potent Zn2+ chelation properties which positions this sulfur-containing metabolite as a putative component of the Zn2+ homeostasis system within fungi. EGT plays an essential role in high-level redox homeostasis and its presence requires significant consideration in future oxidative stress studies in pathogenic filamentous fungi. In certain filamentous fungi, sulfur is additionally indirectly required for the formation of EGT and the disulfide-bridge containing non-ribosomal peptide, gliotoxin, and related epipolythiodioxopiperazines. Ultimately, interference with emerging sulfur metabolite functionality may represent a new strategy for antifungal drug development

    Design of preview controller for a type of discrete-time interconnected systems

    This article proposes and studies a problem of preview control for a type of discrete-time interconnected systems. First, adopting the technique of decentralized control, isolated subsystems are constructed by splitting the correlations between the systems. Utilizing the difference operator to the system equations and error vectors, error systems are built. Then, the preview controller is designed for the error system of each isolated subsystem. The controllers of error systems of isolated subsystems are aggregated as a controller of the interconnected system. Finally, by employing Lyapunov function method and the properties of non-singular M-matrix, the guarantee conditions for the existence of preview controllers for interconnected systems are given. The numerical simulation shows that the theoretical results are effective

    Impulse Elimination and Fault-Tolerant Preview Controller Design for a Class of Descriptor Systems

    In this paper, a fault-tolerant preview controller is designed for a class of impulse controllable continuous time descriptor systems with sensor faults. Firstly, the impulse is eliminated by introducing state prefeedback; then an algebraic equation and a normal control system are obtained by restricted equivalent transformation for the descriptor system after impulse elimination. Next, the model following problem in fault-tolerant control is transformed into the optimal regulation problem of the augmented system which is constructed by a general method. And the final augmented system and its corresponding performance index function are obtained by state feedback for the augmented system constructed above. The controller with preview effect for the final augmented system is attained based on the existing conclusions of optimal preview control; then, the fault-tolerant preview controller for the original system is obtained through integral and backstepping. The relationships between the stabilisability and detectability of the final augmented system and the corresponding characteristics of the original descriptor system are also strictly discussed. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by numerical simulation

    Preview Tracking Control for Continuous-Time Singular Interconnected Systems

    This paper proposes and investigates a problem of preview tracking control for a class of continuous-time singular interconnected systems. Firstly, the related items are deleted to obtain several isolated subsystems with low dimensions. An error system is constructed for each isolated subsystem so that the tracking error is included in the state vector of the error system; then, the tracking problem is transformed into a regulation problem. Secondly, the preview tracking controller is designed for each error system and obtained controllers are combined as the controller of the error system of the singular interconnected system. Thirdly, the Lyapunov function method is utilized to determine the constraints of the related terms so that the closed-loop system of the error system of the singular interconnected system is stable under the action of the controller obtained. Finally, the preview tracking controller of the singular interconnected system is obtained from the relationship between the error system and the original system. A numerical simulation algorithm for continuous-time singular systems is also proposed in this paper. The numerical simulation illustrates the effectiveness of the theoretical results

    Design of an optimal preview controller for linear discrete-time periodic systems

    In this paper, the preview tracking control problem for linear discrete-time periodic systems is considered. First, to overcome the difficulty arising from periodicity of the system, the linear discrete-time periodic system is transformed into an ordinary time-invariant system by lifting method. Secondly, the difference between a system state and its steady-state value is used to derive an augmented system instead of the usual difference between system states. Then, the preview controller for the augmented system is proposed by the preview control theory, which solves the preview tracking control problem for the periodic systems. Moreover, an integrator is introduced to ensure that the output can track the reference signal without static error. Finally, the obtained results are illustrated by the simulation examples

    With increased reliance on communications to conduct military operations, information centric network management becomes vital. A Defense department study of information management for net-centric operations lists the need for tools for information triage (based on relevance, priority, and quality) to counter information overload, semi-automated mechanisms for assessment of quality and relevance of information, and advances to enhance cognition and information understanding in the context of missions [30]. Maximizing information utility to match mission objectives is a complex problem that requires a comprehensive solution in information classification, in scheduling, in resource allocation, and in QoS support. Of these research areas, the resource allocation mechanism provides a framework to build the entire solution. Through an agent based mindset, the lessons of robot control architecture are applied to the network domain. The task of managing information flows is achieved with a hybrid reactive architecture. By demonstration, the reactive agent responds to the observed state of the network through the Unified Behavior Framework (UBF). As information flows relay through the network, agents in the network nodes limit resource contention to improve average utility and create a network with smarter bandwidth utilization. While this is an important result for information maximization, the agent based framework may have broader applications for managing communication networks
