    Measuring the Efficiency of Pesantren Cooperatives: Evidence in Indonesia

    The Cooperative (Koperasi) as a non-Bank financial institution has the purpose of improving the welfare of its members as Koperasi Hidmat and the staffs of Latifah Mubarokiyah Koperasi Ponses Suryalaya that have been since decades ago. Over time, the ideal cooperative can show a significant development and increase the welfare of its members. This study aims to determine the efficiency of cooperative as a benchmark, because by known the performance value of a cooperation, it will known the weeknesses and advantages so that it can be improved the weaknesses and maintain the advantages.The method used is apply Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Inputs used from principal savings, mandatory savings, and fixed assets while the output used from savings in the cooperative, savings in other cooperative and SHU. As for result of this research indicates there are 9 perfect efficient DMUs (100 %) and inefficient DMU is 11 DMUs, consisting of 7 (IRS conditions) and 4 (DRS condition). The most inefficient cooperative is Koperasi Hidmat (2014) of 30.66% efficiency level.Kopkar IAILM is able to maintain its grade efficiency level from 2009 to 2015 when compared to other DMUs cooperatives in the observation, except in 2014. The calculation of efficiency level in this research is relative and it is not absolute, so that it is possible when the cooperative sample is added or the observation year is expanded, so it will get different result. The necessity of any cooperative or BMT based on Pondok Pesantren to make annual financial statements in order to increase accountability and transparency of fund management

    Local Government Action for Developing Primary Cooperatives in Indonesia

    AbstractCooperative have played critical roles in socio-economic development although their failures are still existed in several countries. Therefore, the role of the government in developing cooperative should focused on empowering cooperatives by meeting cooperative development with the cooperative values and principles. This paper focused on the appropriateness of local government action in developing primary cooperatives with cooperative values and principles. The study relied heavily on descriptive research method. The result showed that strategy of local government – especially Malang District local government – focused on strengthening individual member businesses and cooperative's financial capacity that was not meet with cooperative values and principles

    This research is subjected to analyze: 1) the interaction between the cooperative learning and level of learning motivation on the development of students’ achievement in learning mathematics; 2) the difference between the development of students’ achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning and STAD cooperative learning; 3) the difference between the development of students’ achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning and through STAD cooperative learning on the high student’s motivaton; 4 ) the difference between the development of students’ achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning and through STAD cooperative learning on the low student’s motivation. The method used in the research is experiment with a balanced design and use factorial planning 2X2. The study population was all of students in grade XI IPS, amounting to 4 classes. Sampling is the purposive sampling : XI IPS A and XI IPS B. The instruments in this research are questionnaire and test. The writer uses the two-line-ANOVA and the T-Test to analyze the data. The result shows that: 1) there is an interaction between the cooperative learning and students’ learning motivation towards the development of students’ achievement; 2) the average of the development of the students’ achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning is higher than that though STAD cooperative learning; 3) the average of the development of the students’ achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning on the high learning motivation is higher than that through STAD cooperative learning; 4) the average of the development of the students’ achievement in learning mathematics through TPS cooperative learning on the low learning motivation is lower than that through STAD cooperative learning

    “Indigenous” Cooperatives Supporting SDGs Development in Indigenous Communities: a study of social and communication (Case: The Consumer Cooperative of Warga Sauyunan, Kampung Naga, Regency of Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia)

    The purpose of this study is to describe the role of  cooperative, namely The Consumer cooperative of Warga Sauyunan, in supporting SDGs development in  indegenous community at Kampung Naga, The Regency of Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia. The kampong consists of 101 house-hold and 300 people. This study was based on the background of poverty issues as the main problem faced in Indonesian socio-economy, especially in rural areas, and the issue of sustainability of community development.  Cooperative  development program could be seen as  one effort to reduce poverty   through community based development (CBD) by paying attention to the SDGs principles . This  study used desciptive method. This research resulted in  some findings: (1) cooperative could support the indegenous community in Kampung Naga by promoting their economy, and by strengthening social  ties and network in the communities, (2) cooperative practice  and principles are in line with the social  values and princples of the community in which they always  keep the harmonious  relationship with the nature, (3) indegenous communication pattern of the community is the local wisdom which support cooperative development in indegenous community and SDGs principle.   This research has implications for policies of developing the cooperative development program for other    indegenous communities  in Indonesia. It also has implication on the adoption of cooperative concept and principles by indegenous  people as a new mind-set for more productive, valuable  and sustainable  development
