    A Three-Dimensional Cooperative Guidance Law of Multimissile System

    In order to conduct saturation attacks on a static target, the cooperative guidance problem of multimissile system is researched. A three-dimensional guidance model is built using vector calculation and the classic proportional navigation guidance (PNG) law is extended to three dimensions. Based on this guidance law, a distributed cooperative guidance strategy is proposed and a consensus protocol is designed to coordinate the time-to-go commands of all missiles. Then an expert system, which contains two extreme learning machines (ELM), is developed to regulate the local proportional coefficient of each missile according to the command. All missiles can arrive at the target simultaneously under the assumption that the multimissile network is connected. A simulation scenario is given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method

    General Vector Explicit - Impact Time and Angle Control Guidance

    This thesis proposes and evaluates a new cooperative guidance law called General Vector Explicit - Impact Time and Angle Control Guidance (GENEX-ITACG). The motivation for GENEX-ITACG came from an explicit trajectory shaping guidance law called General Vector Explicit Guidance (GENEX). GENEX simultaneously achieves design specifications on miss distance and terminal missile approach angle while also providing a design parameter that adjusts the aggressiveness of this approach angle. Encouraged by the applicability of this user parameter, GENEX-ITACG is an extension that allows a salvo of missiles to cooperatively achieve the same objectives of GENEX against a stationary target through the incorporation of a cooperative trajectory shaping guidance law called Impact Time and Angle Control Guidance (ITACG). ITACG allows a salvo of missile to simultaneously hit a stationary target at a prescribed impact angle and impact time. This predetermined impact time is what allows each missile involved in the salvo attack to simultaneously arrived at the target with unique approach angles, which greatly increases the probability of success against well defended targets. GENEX-ITACG further increases this probability of kill by allowing each missile to approach the target with a unique approach angle rate through the use of a user design parameter. The incorporation of ITACG into GENEX is accomplished through the use of linear optimal control by casting the cost function of GENEX into the formulation of ITACG. The feasibility GENEXITACG is demonstrated across three scenarios that demonstrate the ITACG portion of the guidance law, the GENEX portion of the guidance law, and finally the entirety of the guidance law. The results indicate that GENEX-ITACG is able to successfully guide a salvo of missiles to simultaneously hit a stationary target at a predefined terminal impact angle and impact time, while also allowing the user to adjust the aggressiveness of approach

    Three-dimensional optimal impact time guidance for antiship missiles

    Introduction: The primary objective of missile guidance laws is to drive the missile to intercept a specific target with zero miss distance. Proportional navigation guidance (PNG) has been proved to be an efficient and simple guidance algorithm for missile systems, thus showing wide applications in the past few decades [1]. The optimality of PNG was analyzed in [2] and its extension to three-dimensional (3D) scenario can be found at [3]. In the context of modern warfare, many high-value battleships, like destroyers and aircraft carriers, are equipped with powerful self-defense systems against anti-ship missiles [4]. In order to penetrate these formidable defensive systems, the concept of salvo attack or simultaneous attack was introduced: many missiles are required to hit a battleship simultaneously, albeit their di.erent initial locations. One typical solution of simultaneous attack is impact time control guidance. Generally, impact time control can be classified into two categories: (1) specify the desired impact time and control each missile to satisfy the desired impact time constraint individually; and (2) synchronize the impact time either in a distributed or decentralized fashion through a communication network among all interceptors

    Distributed target-encirclement guidance law for cooperative attack of multiple missiles

    The target-encirclement guidance problem for many-to-one missile-target engagement scenario is studied, where the missiles evenly distribute on a target-centered circle during the homing guidance. The proposed distributed target-encirclement guidance law can achieve simultaneous attack of multiple missiles in different line-of-sight directions. Firstly, the decentralization protocols of desired line-of-sight angles are constructed based on the information of neighboring missiles. Secondly, a biased proportional navigation guidance law that can arbitrarily designate the impact angle is cited. The missiles can achieve all-aspect attack on the target in an encirclement manner by combining the biased proportional navigation guidance law and dynamic virtual targets strategy. Thirdly, the consensus protocol of simultaneous attack is designed, which can guarantee that all missiles’ time-to-go estimates achieve consensus asymptotically, and the convergence of the closed-loop system is proved strictly via the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, numerical simulation results demonstrate the performance and feasibility of the proposed distributed target-encirclement guidance law in different engagement situations

    A New Impact Time and Angle Control Guidance Law for Stationary and Nonmaneuvering Targets

    A guidance problem for impact time and angle control applicable to cooperative attack is considered based on the sliding mode control. In order to satisfy the impact angle constraint, a line-of-sight rate polynomial function is introduced with four tuning parameters. And the time-to-go derivative with respect to a downrange orientation is derived to minimize the impact time error. Then the sliding mode control surface with impact time and angle constraints is constructed using nonlinear engagement dynamics to provide an accurate solution. The proposed guidance law is easily extended to a nonmaneuvering target using the predicted interception point. Numerical simulations are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed guidance law for different engagement scenarios

    A New Path Planning Guidance Law For Improved Impact Time Control of Missiles and Precision Munitions

    A new missile guidance law is proposed for the control of impact time which provides an improved time-to-go calculation by removing error due to trajectory curvature and also provides a family of trajectories for trajectory planning purposes. Unlike conventional optimal guidance laws, the proposed law is non explicit in time-to-go and the linearization of the engagement kinematics in order to gain a closed form solution is not necessary
