"Dagstuhl News" is a publication edited especially for the members of the Foundation "Informatikzentrum Schloss Dagstuhl" to thank them for their support. The News give a summary of the scientific work being done in Dagstuhl. Each Dagstuhl Seminar is presented by a small abstract describing the contents and scientific highlights of the seminar as well as the perspectives or challenges of the research topic

Dialectical tier argumentation as structured by proposing and advising

This paper discusses the parameters of an arguer\u27s duties on the dialectical tier of argument appraisal. Argumentative burdens incurred in making proposals will be compared with probative obligations which may be taken on in advising. The burdens t ypically incurred in these two kinds of illocutionary acts are strikingly different; accordingly, the arguer\u27s obligation to response to objections would be circumscribed differently depending on which speech acts initiates the dialogue. This claim has i mplications for how we delimit a good case for deliberative propositions. It also casts light on manifest rationality and the role of rhetorical art in argumentation

Next generation firewalls for dynamic coalitions

Firewalls represent a critical security building block for networks as they monitor and control incoming and outgoing network traffic based on the enforcement of predetermined secu- rity rules, referred to as firewall rules. Firewalls are constantly being improved to enhance network security. From being a simple filtering device, firewall has been evolved to operate in conjunc- tion in intrusion detection and prevention systems. This paper reviews the existing firewall policies and assesses their application in highly dynamic networks such as coalitions networks. The paper also describe the need for the next-generation firewall policies and how the generative policy model can be leveraged

Evolution of security engineering artifacts: a state of the art survey

Security is an important quality aspect of modern open software systems. However, it is challenging to keep such systems secure because of evolution. Security evolution can only be managed adequately if it is considered for all artifacts throughout the software development lifecycle. This article provides state of the art on the evolution of security engineering artifacts. The article covers the state of the art on evolution of security requirements, security architectures, secure code, security tests, security models, and security risks as well as security monitoring. For each of these artifacts the authors give an overview of evolution and security aspects and discuss the state of the art on its security evolution in detail. Based on this comprehensive survey, they summarize key issues and discuss directions of future research

The (de)construction of Lewis Carroll's nonsense : a close reading into the cosmos of through the looking-glass

This paper focuses on the parameters and elements that constitutes Lewis Carroll's cosmos in the book Through the Looking-Glass. Being a story written and directed towards children, Carroll evokes the most transgressive and demolishing part that hides within all of us. However, this deconstruction is only possible through the sardonic imitation of reality that, once reflected by the mirror, played by pretend-games and dreamt by the child, ends up creating a new and completely inverted reality: the reflection of nonsense. Therefore, in this paper I will explore the elements that not only deconstruct reality, but also construct a new one. A double function that can only happen once the child is able to reunite a subverted logic and a wild imagination.
