Weighing matrices and spherical codes
Mutually unbiased weighing matrices (MUWM) are closely related to an
antipodal spherical code with 4 angles. In the present paper, we clarify the
relationship between MUWM and the spherical sets, and give the complete
solution about the maximum size of a set of MUWM of weight 4 for any order.
Moreover we describe some natural generalization of a set of MUWM from the
viewpoint of spherical codes, and determine several maximum sizes of the
generalized sets. They include an affirmative answer of the problem of Best,
Kharaghani, and Ramp.Comment: Title is changed from "Association schemes related to weighing

Quantum Goethals-Preparata Codes
We present a family of non-additive quantum codes based on Goethals and
Preparata codes with parameters ((2^m,2^{2^m-5m+1},8)). The dimension of these
codes is eight times higher than the dimension of the best known additive
quantum codes of equal length and minimum distance.Comment: Submitted to the 2008 IEEE International Symposium on Information

Coding Theory and Algebraic Combinatorics
This chapter introduces and elaborates on the fruitful interplay of coding
theory and algebraic combinatorics, with most of the focus on the interaction
of codes with combinatorial designs, finite geometries, simple groups, sphere
packings, kissing numbers, lattices, and association schemes. In particular,
special interest is devoted to the relationship between codes and combinatorial
designs. We describe and recapitulate important results in the development of
the state of the art. In addition, we give illustrative examples and
constructions, and highlight recent advances. Finally, we provide a collection
of significant open problems and challenges concerning future research.Comment: 33 pages; handbook chapter, to appear in: "Selected Topics in
