Code generation using a backtracking LR parser
Although the parsing phase of the modern compiler has been automated in a machine independent fashion, the diversity of computer architectures inhibits automating the code generation phase. During code generation, some intermediate representation of a source program is transformed into actual machine instructions. The need for portable compilers has driven research towards the automatic generation of code generators.;This research investigates the use of a backtracking LR parser that treats code generation as a series of tree transformations
Two Decades of Maude
This paper is a tribute to JosĂ© Meseguer, from the rest of us in the Maude team, reviewing the past, the present, and the future of the language and system with which we have been working for around two decades under his leadership. After reviewing the origins and the language's main features, we present the latest additions to the language and some features currently under development. This paper is not an introduction to Maude, and some familiarity with it and with rewriting logic are indeed assumed.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional AndalucĂa Tech
The NASA Astrophysics Data System: Architecture
The powerful discovery capabilities available in the ADS bibliographic
services are possible thanks to the design of a flexible search and retrieval
system based on a relational database model. Bibliographic records are stored
as a corpus of structured documents containing fielded data and metadata, while
discipline-specific knowledge is segregated in a set of files independent of
the bibliographic data itself.
The creation and management of links to both internal and external resources
associated with each bibliography in the database is made possible by
representing them as a set of document properties and their attributes.
To improve global access to the ADS data holdings, a number of mirror sites
have been created by cloning the database contents and software on a variety of
hardware and software platforms.
The procedures used to create and manage the database and its mirrors have
been written as a set of scripts that can be run in either an interactive or
unsupervised fashion.

Towards Analytics Aware Ontology Based Access to Static and Streaming Data (Extended Version)
Real-time analytics that requires integration and aggregation of
heterogeneous and distributed streaming and static data is a typical task in
many industrial scenarios such as diagnostics of turbines in Siemens. OBDA
approach has a great potential to facilitate such tasks; however, it has a
number of limitations in dealing with analytics that restrict its use in
important industrial applications. Based on our experience with Siemens, we
argue that in order to overcome those limitations OBDA should be extended and
become analytics, source, and cost aware. In this work we propose such an
extension. In particular, we propose an ontology, mapping, and query language
for OBDA, where aggregate and other analytical functions are first class
citizens. Moreover, we develop query optimisation techniques that allow to
efficiently process analytical tasks over static and streaming data. We
implement our approach in a system and evaluate our system with Siemens turbine
data
An Estelle compiler
The increasing development and use of computer networks has necessitated international standards to be defined. Central to the standardization efforts is the concept of a Formal Description Technique (FDT) which is used to provide a definition medium for communication protocols and services. This document describes the design and implementation of one of the few existing compilers for the one such FDT, the language "Estelle" ([ISO85], [ISO86], [ISO87])
