    A Systematic Review of User Mental Models on Applications Sustainability

    In Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), a user’s mental model affects application sustainability. This study's goal is to find and assess previous work in the area of user mental models and how it relates to the sustainability of application. Thus, a systematic review process was used to identify 641 initial articles, which were then screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. According to the review, it has been observed that the mental model of a user has an impact on the creation of applications not only within the domain of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), but also in other domains such as Enterprise Innovation Ecology, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), Information Systems (IS), and various others. The examined articles discussed company managers' difficulties in prioritising innovation and ecology, and the necessity to understand users' mental models to build and evaluate intelligent systems. The reviewed articles mostly used experimental, questionnaire, observation, and interviews, by applying either qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method methodologies. This study highlights the importance of user mental models in application sustainability, where developers may create apps that suit user demands, fit with cognitive psychology principles, and improve human-AI collaboration by understanding user mental models. This study also emphasises the importance of user mental models in the long-term viability and sustainability of applications, and provides significant insights for application developers and researchers in building more user-centric and sustainable applications

    The main goal is to prepare the space station technical and managerial structure for likely changes in the creation, capture, transfer, and utilization of knowledge. By anticipating advances, the design of Space Station Project (SSP) information systems can be tailored to facilitate a progression of increasingly sophisticated strategies as the space station evolves. Future generations of advanced information systems will use increases in power to deliver environmentally meaningful, contextually targeted, interconnected data (knowledge). The concept of a Knowledge Base Management System is emerging when the problem is focused on how information systems can perform such a conversion of raw data. Such a system would include traditional management functions for large space databases. Added artificial intelligence features might encompass co-existing knowledge representation schemes; effective control structures for deductive, plausible, and inductive reasoning; means for knowledge acquisition, refinement, and validation; explanation facilities; and dynamic human intervention. The major areas covered include: alternative knowledge representation approaches; advanced user interface capabilities; computer-supported cooperative work; the evolution of information system hardware; standardization, compatibility, and connectivity; and organizational impacts of information intensive environments

    The dicode workbench: A flexible framework for the integration of information and web services

    Aiming to address requirements concerning integration of services in the context of ?big data?, this paper presents an innovative approach that (i) ensures a flexible, adaptable and scalable information and computation infrastructure, and (ii) exploits the competences of stakeholders and information workers to meaningfully confront information management issues such as information characterization, classification and interpretation, thus incorporating the underlying collective intelligence. Our approach pays much attention to the issues of usability and ease-of-use, not requiring any particular programming expertise from the end users. We report on a series of technical issues concerning the desired flexibility of the proposed integration framework and we provide related recommendations to developers of such solutions.     How do different devices impact users' web browsing experience?

    The digital world presents many interfaces, among which the desktop and mobile device platforms are dominant. Grasping the differential user experience (UX) on these devices is a critical requirement for developing user focused interfaces that can deliver enhanced satisfaction. This study specifically focuses on the user's web browsing experience while using desktop and mobile. The thesis adopts quantitative methodology. This amalgamation presents a comprehensive understanding of the influence of device specific variables, such as loading speed, security concerns and interaction techniques, which are critically analyzed. Moreover, various UX facets including usability, user interface (UI) design, accessibility, content organization, and user satisfaction on both devices were also discussed. Substantial differences are observed in the UX delivered by desktop and mobile devices, dictated by inherent device attributes and user behaviors. Mobile UX is often associated with personal, context sensitive use, while desktop caters more effectively to intensive, extended sessions. A surprising revelation is the existing discrepancy between the increasing popularity of mobile devices and the persistent inability of many websites and applications to provide a satisfactory mobile UX. This issue primarily arises from the ineffective adaptation of desktop-focused designs to the mobile, underscoring the necessity for distinct, device specific strategies in UI development. By furnishing pragmatic strategies for designing efficient, user-friendly and inclusive digital interfaces for both devices; the thesis contributes significantly to the existing body of literature. An emphasis is placed on a device-neutral approach in UX design, taking into consideration the unique capabilities and constraints of each device, thereby enriching the expanding discourse on multiservice user experience. As well as this study contributes to digital marketing and targe­ted advertising perspe­ctives

    The needs and demands on location information have arisen rapidly. With the advancement of mobile computing technologies, many researches and studies have been conducted in providing reliable location information solution. Location based information has become an important resource for mobile users especially in giving direction or locating places. Wireless Location Based Services (Wi-LBS) highlight this scenario by explaining the application and usage of the LBS in wireless environment. Wi-LBS is introduced with respect to providing wireless method in locating places within UTP campus instead of referring to static map. The objective of this research is to integrate GIS with MMS technology as a system called Wireless Location Based Services. It is mainly focused on applying GIS elements in providing location information by utilizing the advancement of today's wireless handheld devices. Users will request for location by sending short messages using their mobile phones to the WiLBS system and the system will reply back sending the location information containing pictures and direction. Rapid Application Development (RAD) is used as the methodology in designing the system of Wi-LBS. This research also details the study on Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) that covers the sending of picture messages from Wi-LBS to mobile phones and system's function in responding to the users' requests. Various references and studies have been done regarding the successful LBS applications implemented in foreign country that leads to the interest of doing the research on LBS implementation in this country. The result from the research will be the proposed framework for Wi-LBS, the discussion on the GIS and MMS as well as the system of Wi-LBS. This study proved that Wireless Location Based Services has great potential to be commercially implemented with the growth of wireless application nowadays as today's community is eager of getting more services from wireless system
