HIP-based Handover Mechanism under MIH Architecture in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
[[abstract]]In this paper, we offers a HIP-based vertical
handover scheme under MIH architecture in heterogeneous
wireless network. Many diversity wireless access technologies
are offering in Next Generation Wireless Networks (NGWN).
In NGWN, the integration of wireless access network will be
accomplished by seamless handover which contains many
challenges i.e. service mobility, vertical handover, common
authentication, unified accounting/billing, security mechanisms,
QoS and service provisioning, etc. Toward this direction, our
research aims to provide a complete integration of
heterogeneous network architecture and support a fit mobility
management for network to seamless handover. We focus on
simulation about vertical handover execution for WiMAX to
WiFi scenario. Our idea can modify defects of Mobile IP and
SIP. And it provides internet users always best connection.
Moreover, we hope to contribute our research to beyond 4G

Connection Robustness for Wireless Moving Networks Using Transport Layer Multi-homing
Given any form of mobility management through wireless communication, one useful enhancement is improving the reliability and robustness of transport-layer connections in a heterogeneous mobile environment. This is particularly true in the case of mobile networks with multiple vertical handovers. In this thesis, issues and challenges in mobility management for mobile terminals in such a scenario are addressed, and a number of techniques to facilitate and improve efficiency and the QoS for such a handover are proposed and investigated. These are initially considered in an end-to-end context and all protocols and changes happened in the middleware of the connection where the network is involved with handover issues and end user transparency is satisfied.
This thesis begins by investigating mobility management solutions particularly the transport layer models, also making significant observation pertinent to multi-homing for moving networks in general. A new scheme for transport layer tunnelling based on SCTP is proposed. Consequently a novel protocol to handle seamless network mobility in heterogeneous mobile networks, named nSCTP, is proposed. Efficiency of this protocol in relation to QoS for handover parameters in an end-to-end connection while wired and wireless networks are available is considered. Analytically and experimentally it has been proved that this new scheme can significantly increase the throughput, particularly when the mobile networks roam frequently. The detailed plan for the future improvements and expansion is also provided
A comparitive study on handover probability analysis for future HetNets
The need of wireless services increasing day by day due to the advancements in the field of wireless technology towards 5G for instant transferring the mails, messages and video calling without any interruption. In LTE and 5G wireless networks, major task is to provide seamless connection anywhere, anytime when the user may roam among Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (HetNets). To achieve proper mobility management among HetNets, handoff or hadover is required. Handover Probability is one of the metric to estimate the handover performance, which is a probability of Mobile Node to handover the present connection from the current base station to another base station or enode B. In this paper, handoff probability analysis is done for multiple HetNets based on Handover Algorithm. To estimate this algorithm, bandwidth is considered as one of the key parameter. A comparative analysis of handover probability for two, three, four and five HetNets has been performed. The results can demonstrate that the variation of handover probability with respect to traffic load, threshold and bandwidth. It is observed that, as the number of wireless networks increases handover probability slightly increases with traffic load. These results are more significant to estimate further wrong decision handovers based on that Quality of Service (QoS) is evaluated in practical HetNets such as integration of LTE, Wi-Fi and WiMAX etc.
Integrated Support for Handoff Management and Context-Awareness in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
The overwhelming success of mobile devices and wireless
communications is stressing the need for the development of
mobility-aware services. Device mobility requires services
adapting their behavior to sudden context changes and being
aware of handoffs, which introduce unpredictable delays and
intermittent discontinuities. Heterogeneity of wireless
technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G) complicates the situation,
since a different treatment of context-awareness and handoffs is
required for each solution. This paper presents a middleware
architecture designed to ease mobility-aware service
development. The architecture hides technology-specific
mechanisms and offers a set of facilities for context awareness
and handoff management. The architecture prototype works with
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which today represent two of the most
widespread wireless technologies. In addition, the paper discusses
motivations and design details in the challenging context of
mobile multimedia streaming applications
WiBACK: A back-haul network architecture for 5G networks
Recently both academic and industry worlds has started to define the successor of Long Term Evolution (LTE), so-called 5G networks, which will most likely appear by the end of the decade. It is widely accepted that those 5G networks will have to deal with significantly more challenging requirements in terms of provided bandwidth, latency and supported services. This will lead to not only modifications in access and parts of core networks, but will trigger changes throughout the whole network, including the Back-haul segment. In this work we present our vision of a 5G Back-haul network and identify the associated challenges. We then describe our Wireless Backhaul (WiBACK) architecture, which implements Software Defined Network (SDN) concepts and further extends them into the wireless domain. Finally we present a brief overview of our pilot installations before we conclude. This work has been supported by the BATS research project which is funded by the European Union Seventh Framework Programme under contract n317533
Adaptive Bandwidth Management and Joint Call Admission Control to Enhance System Utilization and QoS in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
:The coexistence of different cellular networks in the same area necessitates joint radio resource management for enhanced QoS provisioning and efficient radio resource utilization. We propose adaptive bandwidth management and joint call admission control (JCAC) scheme for heterogeneous cellular networks. The objectives of the proposed adaptive JCAC scheme are to enhance average system utilization, guarantee QoS requirements of all accepted calls, and reduce new call blocking probability and handoff call dropping probability in heterogeneous wireless networks. We develop a Markov chain model for the adaptive JCAC scheme and derive new call blocking probability, handoff call dropping probability, and average system utilization. Performance of the proposed adaptive JCAC scheme is compared with that of nonadaptive JCAC scheme in the same heterogeneous wireless network. Results show an improvement in average system utilization of up to 20%. Results also show that connection-level QoS can be significantly improved by using the proposed adaptive JCAC scheme
Heterogeneous component interactions: Sensors integration into multimedia applications
Resource-constrained embedded and mobile devices are becoming increasingly
common. Since few years, some mobile and ubiquitous devices such as wireless
sensor, able to be aware of their physical environment, appeared. Such devices
enable proposing applications which adapt to user's need according the context
evolution. It implies the collaboration of sensors and software components
which differ on their nature and their communication mechanisms. This paper
proposes a unified component model in order to easily design applications based
on software components and sensors without taking care of their nature. Then it
presents a state of the art of communication problems linked to heterogeneous
components and proposes an interaction mechanism which ensures information
exchanges between wireless sensors and software components
