Adaptation of DSpace to the Specific Needs of the Agricultural Sciences and Technology Community
4th International Conference on Open RepositoriesThis presentation was part of the session : Conference PostersThe aim of this project is to explore the customization of DSpace according to the use of controlled vocabularies. The plug-in shall be easy–to–install modules available free for download on the DSpace site. The objective is the adaptation of DSpace to the specific needs of the Agricultural Sciences and Technology community in order to assure quality in metadata creation. Knowledge Organization Systems such as the AGROVOC thesaurus provide mechanisms for sharing information in a standardized manner by recommending the use of common semantics.Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation
Analysis of Second-order Statistics Based Semi-blind Channel Estimation in CDMA Channels
The performance of second order statistics (SOS) based semi-blind channel
estimation in long-code DS-CDMA systems is analyzed. The covariance matrix of
SOS estimates is obtained in the large system limit, and is used to analyze the
large-sample performance of two SOS based semi-blind channel estimation
algorithms. A notion of blind estimation efficiency is also defined and is
examined via simulation results.Comment: To be presented at the 2005 Conference on Information Sciences and

Optimisation using Natural Language Processing: Personalized Tour Recommendation for Museums
This paper proposes a new method to provide personalized tour recommendation
for museum visits. It combines an optimization of preference criteria of
visitors with an automatic extraction of artwork importance from museum
information based on Natural Language Processing using textual energy. This
project includes researchers from computer and social sciences. Some results
are obtained with numerical experiments. They show that our model clearly
improves the satisfaction of the visitor who follows the proposed tour. This
work foreshadows some interesting outcomes and applications about on-demand
personalized visit of museums in a very near future.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures; Proceedings of the 2014 Federated Conference on

International Academic Symposium of Social Science 2022
This conference proceedings gathers work and research presented at the International Academic Symposium of Social Science 2022 (IASSC2022) held on July 3, 2022, in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. The conference was jointly organized by the Faculty of Information Management of Universiti Teknologi MARA Kelantan Branch, Malaysia; University of Malaya, Malaysia; Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, Indonesia; Universitas Ngudi Waluyo, Indonesia; Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, Philippines; and UCSI University, Malaysia. Featuring experienced keynote speakers from Malaysia, Australia, and England, this proceeding provides an opportunity for researchers, postgraduate students, and industry practitioners to gain knowledge and understanding of advanced topics concerning digital transformations in the perspective of the social sciences and information systems, focusing on issues, challenges, impacts, and theoretical foundations. This conference proceedings will assist in shaping the future of the academy and industry by compiling state-of-the-art works and future trends in the digital transformation of the social sciences and the field of information systems. It is also considered an interactive platform that enables academicians, practitioners and students from various institutions and industries to collaborate
Binary Message Passing Decoding of Product Codes Based on Generalized Minimum Distance Decoding
We propose a binary message passing decoding algorithm for product codes
based on generalized minimum distance decoding (GMDD) of the component codes,
where the last stage of the GMDD makes a decision based on the Hamming distance
metric. The proposed algorithm closes half of the gap between conventional
iterative bounded distance decoding (iBDD) and turbo product decoding based on
the Chase--Pyndiah algorithm, at the expense of some increase in complexity.
Furthermore, the proposed algorithm entails only a limited increase in data
flow compared to iBDD.Comment: Invited paper to the 53rd Annual Conference on Information Sciences

Celebrating HICSS50: The Past, Present, and Future of HICSS
The Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) celebrated its 50th anniversary (HICSS-50) in January, 2017. To mark the occasion and to pay respect to the significant standing of this conference in the global IS community, the Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS) organized a special section on “Celebrating HICSS50: The Past, Present, and Future of HICSS Conference”. In this editorial, we share the guest editors’ perspectives on HICSS and summarize the three papers in the special section
