ANN for Diagnosing Hepatitis Virus
Abstract: This paper presents an artificial neural network based approach for the diagnosis of hepatitis virus. A number of factors that may possibly influence the performance of patients were outlined. Such factors as age, sex, Steroid, Antivirals, Fatigue, Malaise, Anorexia, Liver Big, Liver Firm Splean Palpable, Spiders, Ascites, Varices, Bilirubin, Alk Phosphate, SGOT, Albumin, Protine and Histology, were then used as input variables for the ANN model . Test data evaluation shows that the ANN model is able to correctly predict the diagnosis of more than 93% of prospective Patients
Unconventional machine learning of genome-wide human cancer data
Recent advances in high-throughput genomic technologies coupled with
exponential increases in computer processing and memory have allowed us to
interrogate the complex aberrant molecular underpinnings of human disease from
a genome-wide perspective. While the deluge of genomic information is expected
to increase, a bottleneck in conventional high-performance computing is rapidly
approaching. Inspired in part by recent advances in physical quantum
processors, we evaluated several unconventional machine learning (ML)
strategies on actual human tumor data. Here we show for the first time the
efficacy of multiple annealing-based ML algorithms for classification of
high-dimensional, multi-omics human cancer data from the Cancer Genome Atlas.
To assess algorithm performance, we compared these classifiers to a variety of
standard ML methods. Our results indicate the feasibility of using
annealing-based ML to provide competitive classification of human cancer types
and associated molecular subtypes and superior performance with smaller
training datasets, thus providing compelling empirical evidence for the
potential future application of unconventional computing architectures in the
biomedical sciences
Evaluation of IoT-Based Computational Intelligence Tools for DNA Sequence Analysis in Bioinformatics
In contemporary age, Computational Intelligence (CI) performs an essential
role in the interpretation of big biological data considering that it could
provide all of the molecular biology and DNA sequencing computations. For this
purpose, many researchers have attempted to implement different tools in this
field and have competed aggressively. Hence, determining the best of them among
the enormous number of available tools is not an easy task, selecting the one
which accomplishes big data in the concise time and with no error can
significantly improve the scientist's contribution in the bioinformatics field.
This study uses different analysis and methods such as Fuzzy, Dempster-Shafer,
Murphy and Entropy Shannon to provide the most significant and reliable
evaluation of IoT-based computational intelligence tools for DNA sequence
analysis. The outcomes of this study can be advantageous to the bioinformatics
community, researchers and experts in big biological data
Pain Level Detection From Facial Image Captured by Smartphone
Accurate symptom of cancer patient in regular basis is highly concern to the medical service provider for clinical decision making such as adjustment of medication. Since patients have limitations to provide self-reported symptoms, we have investigated how mobile phone application can play the vital role to help the patients in this case. We have used facial images captured by smart phone to detect pain level accurately. In this pain detection process, existing algorithms and infrastructure are used for cancer patients to make cost low and user-friendly. The pain management solution is the first mobile-based study as far as we found today. The proposed algorithm has been used to classify faces, which is represented as a weighted combination of Eigenfaces. Here, angular distance, and support vector machines (SVMs) are used for the classification system. In this study, longitudinal data was collected for six months in Bangladesh. Again, cross-sectional pain images were collected from three different countries: Bangladesh, Nepal and the United States. In this study, we found that personalized model for pain assessment performs better for automatic pain assessment. We also got that the training set should contain varying levels of pain in each group: low, medium and high
ANN for Predicting Antibiotic Susceptibility
Abstract: In this research, an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model was developed and tested to predict efficiency of antibiotics in treating various bacteria types. Attributes that were taken in account are: organism name, specimen type, and antibiotic name as input and susceptibility as an output. A model based on one input, one hidden, and one output layers concept topology was developed and trained using a data from Queensland government's website.
The evaluation shows that the ANN model is capable of correctly predicting the susceptibility of organisms to the antibiotics with 98% accuracy
