The adaptation to the new European Higher Education Area favors the assumption of the new technologies as one of the means that improve the quality of education and the process of student’s learning. The best assimilation of the theoretical and practical contents of the different subjects and the stimulus that the use of these resources for the independent learning of the student supposes, justify the attention lent to the formal aspects of the educational methodology, and to its consequent didactic process. The project that we presented finds its justification in the measures that the University of Cadiz has started up in the occasion of the process of European Convergence, and that are materialized, in this case, in the Call of Educative Innovation of the educational and investigating personnel of the European Project. Our work assumes as main target the optimization of the educational resources, from the possibilities that offer new technical means, with the creation of educational, audio-visual and computerized material, adapted to the contents of the implied subjects, and with a joint work of the teaching staff who allows the creation of a repository of computerized material that has stable character and that can be taken advantage of by the group in its later educational work. In this sense, this contribution tries to show the different lines of performance that the members of the project develop at the present time, and that takes shape in the creation of different resources as the elaboration from presentations in Power Point, the computerization of real samples of speech and the creation of a model that allows to elaborate computerized text commentaries, from hyperlinks and different linksUniversidad de Cádiz, Vicerrectorado de Tecnologías de la Información e Innovación DocenteInted2009 Proceedings C

The emergence of information systems: a communication-based theory

    Get PDF
An information system is more than just the information technology; it is the system that emerges from the complex interactions and relationships between the information technology and the organization. However, what impact information technology has on an organization and how organizational structures and organizational change influence information technology remains an open question. We propose a theory to explain how communication structures emerge and adapt to environmental changes. We operationalize the interplay of information technology and organization as language communities whose members use and develop domain-specific languages for communication. Our theory is anchored in the philosophy of language. In developing it as an emergent perspective, we argue that information systems are self-organizing and that control of this ability is disseminated throughout the system itself, to the members of the language community. Information technology influences the dynamics of this adaptation process as a fundamental constraint leading to perturbations for the information system. We demonstrate how this view is separated from the entanglement in practice perspective and show that this understanding has far-reaching consequences for developing, managing, and examining information systems

Neither from words, nor from visions: understanding p-medicine from innovative treatments

    Get PDF
Despite its vagueness Personalized, Precision, P4, P5, individualized, stratified medicine—or p-medicine in short—has become an increasingly popular term in biomedical literature. Philosophers have attempted to analyze what these various terms involve and have discussed consequences for medical practices. In this article, I argue that an important question remains unaddressed: what has made this project of p-medicine convincing to so many? My argument is that without real achievements, it would never have been. I also make the case that these achievements stem from the domain of monoclonal antibodies (mab), a new type of drug that justifies talks of personalized, precise, stratified, etc., medicine. In conclusion, while it may be possible to label any projection in the future of medicine as ‘p-medicine’, it is impossible to overlook mab-medicine as the spearhead

The article examines the issue of the strategy for the development of digital competence in the national education system of Ukrainian society under the influence of intensive development of ICT and in the context of practical recommendations provided by UNESCO regarding the structure of ICT competence of teachers. It was determined that there is no uniform policy of ICT education transformation in public institutions of Ukraine and there are no ICT standards - competences of participants in the educational process. The conceptual vision of informatization of the national education system of Ukraine is described, in the context of strengthening the role of digital competences and technologies. A comparative analysis of the large-scale informatization of the global education system, which led to the emergence of new methods and forms of education, was carried out. It is emphasized that the national education system of Ukraine is slowly introducing new methods and forms of education, which leads to a decrease in the competitiveness of Ukrainian education in the globalized educational space, and as a result leads to a decrease in the country's competitiveness in socio-economic and scientific and technical progress as a whole

We look at the problem connected with methods of teaching Chinese field-specific terms to international students in technical institutes of higher education. The basis of our research is represented by Chinese scientists’ articles in the sphere of manufacturing polymer. Our research is focused on the solution of problems connected with teaching Chinese field-specific terms to international students in technical institutes of higher education. The task required analysis of teaching and studying issues of field-specific disciplines in Tomsk Polytechnic University, study of terminological processes in Chinese, description of how field-specific terms are adopted from foreign languages into Chinese. Studying the above listed aspects provided a basis for developing a classification of polymer production terms. The way the Chinese language borrows a terminological item is considered when dividing terminological elements into groups for further systematization. We structured our classification of terms and terminological combinations by taking into account the fundamentals of high-molecular composition chemistry for easier understanding of polymer production terminology by teachers and students of technical institutions of higher education

Virtual reconstructions of historical and cultural heritage sites and their conventional grading

    Get PDF
Numerous historical and cultural reconstructions without an established systematization have accumulated in the contemporary virtual space. At the same time, they differ significantly from one another. In this regard, a rather critical task at this point is the gradation and systematization of information on historical and cultural reconstructions. To meet the objective of this study, basic concepts were investigated, such as ‘virtuality’, ‘visuality’ and others, which are necessary for the determination of the final results. The article considers conditional grading of virtual reconstructions developed by the authors. Various examples and options are provided for every type of reconstruction, making it possible to subdivide the currently available historical and cultural reconstructions into three primary groups: First group - closed virtual reconstruction: local, narrative or retrospective. Second group - research or location virtual reconstruction: perimetral or cognitive. Third group - projected virtual reconstruction: static or effective (complex sensor). Classification into three primary groups and associated six types greatly facilitates the orientation in the various historical and cultural virtual spaces, including their producers and consumers, also allowing to update the terminological communication of researchers and developers in this subject field.peer-reviewe

The article highlights the peculiarities of the development of emotional intelligence of secondary education students. The relevance of the chosen topic is substantiated and the scientific pedagogical, psychological, linguistic-educational sources are analyzed. Theoretical approaches to understanding the structure of emotional intelligence are generalized, the most common views on emotional intelligence are identified. It presents its structure, which distinguishes five components with short characteristics (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, communication skills). It is noted that, within the Ukrainian language school curricula, teachers traditionally use exercises aimed at developing the emotional sphere of students, but in the light of current scientific research, this part of the educational process requires systematization and ordering. The structure of emotional intelligence is correlated with its functions. The stages of the development of emotional intelligence of secondary education students are given. Samples of multilevel exercises for the effective formation of emotional intelligence of students at the Ukrainian lessons are offered. Emphasis is made on the necessity of constant replenishing of the vocabulary of students with words- names of emotions and feelings in order to interpret their essence. It is emphasized that the enrichment of the active vocabulary by the names of feelings and emotionally colored words will contribute to the improvement of emotional competence. Performing the suggested exercises and tasks during which the students will analyze and express their own feelings will ensure the development of empathy. Therefore, success in communication and ultimately the formation of emotional intelligence affect the development of the linguistic personality of the student. The development of emotional competence will help to balance the mind and feelings of the individual, will deter from performing actions under the influence of emotions, will prevent manipulation from the side of other persons.У статті висвітлено особливості розвитку емоційного інтелекту в учнів закладів загальної середньої освіти. The issue of translation transformations for teaching written translation has been studied rarely. This study has the general purpose of urging the importance of the issue, especially in view of global digitalization, when machine translation poses a threat to flatten out the role of a human translator. A translator who does not have translation transformations skills is not in demand on the labour market. The aim of the article is to determine the effectiveness of using the method of translation transformations as a special educational technology. The method of translation transformations is tested through its application for training future foreign philologists in the written translation techniques of English texts of different styles. The final evaluation showed that on average, the respondents of the experimental group achieved the level of “Very good” (827.4 points, qualitative level – 82.8%), and the respondents of the control group – the level of “Good” (754.6 points, qualitative level – 75.5%). The data indicate the effectiveness of the method of translational transformations. However, they evidence the difficulty of achieving more significant results within the scope of a time-limited experiment
