    Evaluating openEHR for storing computable representations of electronic health record phenotyping algorithms

    Electronic Health Records (EHR) are data generated during routine clinical care. EHR offer researchers unprecedented phenotypic breadth and depth and have the potential to accelerate the pace of precision medicine at scale. A main EHR use-case is creating phenotyping algorithms to define disease status, onset and severity. Currently, no common machine-readable standard exists for defining phenotyping algorithms which often are stored in human-readable formats. As a result, the translation of algorithms to implementation code is challenging and sharing across the scientific community is problematic.     Non-computability of human intelligence

    We revisit the question (most famously) initiated by Turing: can human intelligence be completely modeled by a Turing machine? We show that the answer is \emph{no}, assuming a certain weak soundness hypothesis. More specifically we show that at least some meaningful thought processes of the brain cannot be Turing computable. In particular some physical processes are not Turing computable, which is not entirely expected. There are some similarities of our argument with the well known Lucas-Penrose argument, but we work purely on the level of Turing machines, and do not use G\"odel's incompleteness theorem or any direct analogue. Instead we construct directly and use a weak analogue of a G\"odel statement for a certain system which involves our human, this allows us to side-step some (possible) meta-logical issues with their argument

    Reclaiming human machine nature

    Extending and modifying his domain of life by artifact production is one of the main characteristics of humankind. From the first hominid, who used a wood stick or a stone for extending his upper limbs and augmenting his gesture strength, to current systems engineers who used technologies for augmenting human cognition, perception and action, extending human body capabilities remains a big issue. From more than fifty years cybernetics, computer and cognitive sciences have imposed only one reductionist model of human machine systems: cognitive systems. Inspired by philosophy, behaviorist psychology and the information treatment metaphor, the cognitive system paradigm requires a function view and a functional analysis in human systems design process. According that design approach, human have been reduced to his metaphysical and functional properties in a new dualism. Human body requirements have been left to physical ergonomics or "physiology". With multidisciplinary convergence, the issues of "human-machine" systems and "human artifacts" evolve. The loss of biological and social boundaries between human organisms and interactive and informational physical artifact questions the current engineering methods and ergonomic design of cognitive systems. New developpment of human machine systems for intensive care, human space activities or bio-engineering sytems requires grounding human systems design on a renewed epistemological framework for future human systems model and evidence based "bio-engineering". In a synchronous course, there is a requirement that all students be online at specific times, to allow for a shared course environment.     The glue of the economic system: the effect of relational goods on trust and trustworthiness.

    The role of “relational goods” is almost unexplored in the literature, yet our experimental results document that, even in their weakest form (opportunity of meeting an unknown player at the end of an experimental game), they significantly affect important “lubricants” of economic activity such as trust and trustworthiness and generate significant departures from the standard Nash equilibrium outcome in trust (investment) games. Our findings suggest that relational goods are an important “source of energy” in economic interactions and that the study of this “neglected particle” of socioeconomic life may produce significant advancements on both positive and normative economics.relational goods, trust, experimental games
