    The ontomedia project : ODR, relational justice, multimedia

    More than ever, the Web is a space of social interaction. Recent trends reveal that Internet users spend more time interacting within online communities than in checking and replying to e-mail. Online communities and institutions create new spaces for interaction, but also open new avenues for the emergence of grievances, claims, and disputes. Consequently, online dispute resolution (ODR) procedures are core to these new online worlds. But can ODR mechanisms provide sufficient levels of reputation, trust ,and enforceability so as to become mainstream? This contribution introduces the new approaches to ODR with an emphasis on the Ontomedia Project, which is currently developing a web-based platform to facilitate online mediation in different domains

    Case-based reasoning with precedent models: Preliminary report

    Formalizing case-based reasoning is an important topic in AI and Law, which has been discussed using various approaches, such as formal dialogue games, abstract dialectical frameworks. In this paper we model case-based reasoning by using the formal argument semantics of case models. With the precedent models we present, the validity of legal arguments in the case-based reasoning process can be shown formally. We also present a case study of precedent models in a real legal domain and evaluate the validity of arguments in case-based reasoning

    Verificación automática de documentos normativos: ¿ficción o realidad?

    El desarrollo de toda pieza de software de cierta escala comienza por una etapa que se conoce como especificación, donde se describen las tareas que el software debe realizar. Estas especificaciones tienen en general una inclinación deóntica, pues indican cuáles comportamientos del sistema bajo estudio son permitidos y cuáles no lo son. Siendo un producto humano, suelen contener errores, contradicciones, casos sin cubrir, etc. Dentro de la Ingeniería del Software existen técnicas y herramientas lógico-matemáticas llamadas métodos formales, que analizan esas especificaciones en busca de defectos, de muy difícil hallazgo manual. Tomando como base las similitudes entre la especificación de software y la de las normas legales, este artículo explora la idea de trasladar al terreno legislativo las técnicas y herramientas que han resultado exitosas para verificar software. Además de repasar los antecedentes académicos en la interacción Informática-Derecho, aplicamos algunas de las técnicas mencionadas a un caso de estudio real en el que encontramos “lagunas” que podrían ser abusadas, y proponemos una agenda de investigación para el área.Sociedad Argentina de Informática e Investigación Operativ

    Logic-based Technologies for Intelligent Systems: State of the Art and Perspectives

    Together with the disruptive development of modern sub-symbolic approaches to artificial intelligence (AI), symbolic approaches to classical AI are re-gaining momentum, as more and more researchers exploit their potential to make AI more comprehensible, explainable, and therefore trustworthy. Since logic-based approaches lay at the core of symbolic AI, summarizing their state of the art is of paramount importance now more than ever, in order to identify trends, benefits, key features, gaps, and limitations of the techniques proposed so far, as well as to identify promising research perspectives. Along this line, this paper provides an overview of logic-based approaches and technologies by sketching their evolution and pointing out their main application areas. Future perspectives for exploitation of logic-based technologies are discussed as well, in order to identify those research fields that deserve more attention, considering the areas that already exploit logic-based approaches as well as those that are more likely to adopt logic-based approaches in the future

    Datalog± Ontology Consolidation

    Knowledge bases in the form of ontologies are receiving increasing attention as they allow to clearly represent both the available knowledge, which includes the knowledge in itself and the constraints imposed to it by the domain or the users. In particular, Datalog ± ontologies are attractive because of their property of decidability and the possibility of dealing with the massive amounts of data in real world environments; however, as it is the case with many other ontological languages, their application in collaborative environments often lead to inconsistency related issues. In this paper we introduce the notion of incoherence regarding Datalog± ontologies, in terms of satisfiability of sets of constraints, and show how under specific conditions incoherence leads to inconsistent Datalog ± ontologies. The main contribution of this work is a novel approach to restore both consistency and coherence in Datalog± ontologies. The proposed approach is based on kernel contraction and restoration is performed by the application of incision functions that select formulas to delete. Nevertheless, instead of working over minimal incoherent/inconsistent sets encountered in the ontologies, our operators produce incisions over non-minimal structures called clusters. We present a construction for consolidation operators, along with the properties expected to be satisfied by them. Finally, we establish the relation between the construction and the properties by means of a representation theorem. Although this proposal is presented for Datalog± ontologies consolidation, these operators can be applied to other types of ontological languages, such as Description Logics, making them apt to be used in collaborative environments like the Semantic Web.Fil: Deagustini, Cristhian Ariel David.
