Увагу зосереджено на проблемно-тематичних характеристиках англомовних лекцій, які були прочитані лауреатами в галузі літератури. Проаналізовано чинники, що впливають на зміст лекції. Встановлено взаємозв’язок між темою доповіді та офіційним обґрунтуванням нагороди членами Шведської академії
The Translocal Event and the Polyrhythmic Diagram
This thesis identifies and analyses the key creative protocols in translocal performance practice, and ends with suggestions for new forms of transversal live and mediated
performance practice, informed by theory. It argues that ontologies of emergence in dynamic systems nourish contemporary practice in the digital arts. Feedback
in self-organised, recursive systems and organisms elicit change, and change transforms. The arguments trace concepts from chaos and complexity theory to virtual multiplicity, relationality, intuition and individuation (in the work of Bergson, Deleuze, Guattari, Simondon, Massumi, and other process theorists). It then examines the intersection of methodologies in philosophy, science and art and the
radical contingencies implicit in the technicity of real-time, collaborative composition. Simultaneous forces or tendencies such as perception/memory, content/
expression and instinct/intellect produce composites (experience, meaning, and intuition- respectively) that affect the sensation of interplay. The translocal
event is itself a diagram - an interstice between the forces of the local and the global, between the tendencies of the individual and the collective. The translocal is
a point of reference for exploring the distribution of affect, parameters of control and emergent aesthetics. Translocal interplay, enabled by digital technologies and network protocols, is ontogenetic and autopoietic; diagrammatic and synaesthetic; intuitive and transductive. KeyWorx is a software application developed for realtime, distributed, multimodal media processing. As a technological tool created by artists, KeyWorx supports this intuitive type of creative experience: a real-time, translocal “jamming” that transduces the lived experience of a “biogram,” a synaesthetic hinge-dimension. A Cut Principle for Information Flow
We view a distributed system as a graph of active locations with
unidirectional channels between them, through which they pass messages. In this
context, the graph structure of a system constrains the propagation of
information through it.
Suppose a set of channels is a cut set between an information source and a
potential sink. We prove that, if there is no disclosure from the source to the
cut set, then there can be no disclosure to the sink. We introduce a new
formalization of partial disclosure, called *blur operators*, and show that the
same cut property is preserved for disclosure to within a blur operator. This
cut-blur property also implies a compositional principle, which ensures limited
disclosure for a class of systems that differ only beyond the cut.Comment: 31 page
Taste and the algorithm
Today, a consistent part of our everyday interaction with art and aesthetic artefacts occurs through digital media, and our preferences and choices are systematically tracked and analyzed by algorithms in ways that are far from transparent. Our consumption is constantly documented, and then, we are fed back through tailored information. We are therefore witnessing the emergence of a complex interrelation between our aesthetic choices, their digital elaboration, and also the production of content and the dynamics of creative processes. All are involved in a process of mutual influences, and are partially determined by the invisible guiding hand of algorithms.
With regard to this topic, this paper will introduce some key issues concerning the role of algorithms in aesthetic domains, such as taste detection and formation, cultural consumption and production, and showing how aesthetics can contribute to the ongoing debate about the impact of today’s “algorithmic culture”
Summarizing Dialogic Arguments from Social Media
Online argumentative dialog is a rich source of information on popular
beliefs and opinions that could be useful to companies as well as governmental
or public policy agencies. Compact, easy to read, summaries of these dialogues
would thus be highly valuable. A priori, it is not even clear what form such a
summary should take. Previous work on summarization has primarily focused on
summarizing written texts, where the notion of an abstract of the text is well
defined. We collect gold standard training data consisting of five human
summaries for each of 161 dialogues on the topics of Gay Marriage, Gun Control
and Abortion. We present several different computational models aimed at
identifying segments of the dialogues whose content should be used for the
summary, using linguistic features and Word2vec features with both SVMs and
Bidirectional LSTMs. We show that we can identify the most important arguments
by using the dialog context with a best F-measure of 0.74 for gun control, 0.71

Supporting End-User Development through a New Composition Model: An Empirical Study
End-user development (EUD) is much hyped, and its impact has outstripped even the most optimistic forecasts. Even so, the vision of end users programming their own solutions
has not yet materialized. This will continue to be so unless we in both industry and the research community set ourselves the ambitious challenge of devising end to end an end-user application development model for developing a new age of EUD tools. We have embarked on this venture, and this paper presents the main insights and outcomes of our research and development efforts as part of a number of successful EU research projects. Our proposal not only aims to reshape software engineering to meet the needs of EUD but also to refashion its components as solution building blocks instead of programs and software developments. way, end users will really be empowered to build solutions based on artefacts akin to their expertise and understanding of ideal solution
