LEVERAGING SOA IN BANKING SYSTEMS INTEGRATION
There is no doubt that the systems integration is one of the most important and complicated tasks in software filed especially for complex applications like banking systems. Complexity in integrating banking systems often comes from continues changes in both technical and business features provided by them to meet customer needs. Banking systems always come from different software vendors which mean using platforms and different design and architecture patterns, and this for sure adds extra complexity for integrating them. Serviceoriented architecture (SOA) is a promising method in software filed that aims to build or restructure software systems in a manner that makes their maintenance and integration easier. Agility is the most important goal that should be achieved when building and integrating banking systems. The offshoring of financial services : a reassessment
Operating in increasingly competitive market environment, financial services companies are engaged in international re-engineering of business processes mirroring developments in manufacturing over the past four decades. Drawing upon interviews conducted with senior managers and partners from two leading international banks, a multinational 'consumables' provider and a leading finance consultancy, as well as extensive published surveys, we examine the distinctive 'anatomy' of offshoring in financial services, and industry which also manifests a high degree of geographical concentration for 'higher order' functions. We conclude that the reality of process re-engineering in the sector has frequently failed to meet business objectives, and has run the risk of creating 'backlash' from employees in both home and host environments

Path-based Access Control for Enterprise Networks
Enterprise networks are ubiquitious and increasingly complex. The mechanisms for defining security policies in these networks have not kept up with the advancements in networking technology. In most cases, system administrators must define policies on a per-application basis, and subsequently, these policies do not interact. For example, there is no mechanism that allows a firewall to communicate decisions based on its ruleset to a web server behind it, even though decisions being made at the firewall may be relevant to decisions made at the web server. In this paper, we describe a path-based access control system which allows applications in a network to pass access-control-related information to neighboring applications, as the applications process requests from outsiders and from each other. This system defends networks against a class of attacks wherein individual applications may make correct access control decisions but the resulting network behavior is incorrect. We demonstrate the system on service-oriented architecture (SOA)-style networks, in two forms, using graph-based policies, and leveraging the KeyNote trust management system
User-Customizable Web Components for Building One-Page Sites
Most of online website builders work by combining and customizing reusable HTML modules. This approach could rise the risk of conflicts among modules. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is writing the specification of
Web Components. This standard provides a browser-native solution in order to realize encapsulated Document Object Model (DOM) elements, in which the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript scope is locally bound and the interaction with the document is strictly designed by the component author. Upon this standard, libraries have been built, Google’s Polymer being an example, which provide a declarative and easy way to realize Components. In this paper, we provide a solution to the module approach limit in website builders by using Web Components as modules that are customizable by the end user. Our approach uses standard web technologies that modern browsers are natively supporting. We describe how a customizable Web Component is designed and how to bind their options with the generator UI. Furthermore, we will show an application of this approach in a Landing Page generator. We demonstrate that the generator could import again the generated HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and edit it, without any intermediary data structure (i.e., eXtensible Markup
Language, XML or JavaScript Object Notation, Json). Finally, we outline further future development of this approach

The Long-Term Credit Bank (LTCB) of Japan underwent a very traumatic reorganization beginning in 1998 following Japans economic collapse in 1989. The bank was beset with difficulties rooted in bad debts. Possible mergers with domestic banks were proposed, but the bank eventually was sold to an international group, which set about putting the bank back together, launching it in June 2000 as Shinsei Bank, Limited (Shinsei)
Mobile Databases: a Selection of Open Issues and Research Directions
International audienceThis paper reports on the main results of a specific action on mobile databases conducted by CNRS in France from October 2001 to December 2002. The objective of this action was to review the state of progress in mobile databases and identify major research directions for the French database community. Rather than provide a survey of all important issues in mobile databases, this paper gives an outline of the directions in which the action participants are now engaged, namely: copy synchronization in disconnected computing, mobile transactions, database embedded in ultra-light devices, data confidentiality, P2P dissemination models and middleware adaptability
