Semiring and semimodule issues in MV-algebras
In this paper we propose a semiring-theoretic approach to MV-algebras based
on the connection between such algebras and idempotent semirings - such an
approach naturally imposing the introduction and study of a suitable
corresponding class of semimodules, called MV-semimodules.
We present several results addressed toward a semiring theory for
MV-algebras. In particular we show a representation of MV-algebras as a
subsemiring of the endomorphism semiring of a semilattice, the construction of
the Grothendieck group of a semiring and its functorial nature, and the effect
of Mundici categorical equivalence between MV-algebras and lattice-ordered
Abelian groups with a distinguished strong order unit upon the relationship
between MV-semimodules and semimodules over idempotent semifields.Comment: This version contains some corrections to some results at the end of

A de Finetti representation for finite symmetric quantum states
Consider a symmetric quantum state on an n-fold product space, that is, the
state is invariant under permutations of the n subsystems. We show that,
conditioned on the outcomes of an informationally complete measurement applied
to a number of subsystems, the state in the remaining subsystems is close to
having product form. This immediately generalizes the so-called de Finetti
representation to the case of finite symmetric quantum states.Comment: 22 pages, LaTe
Trace as an alternative decategorification functor
Categorification is a process of lifting structures to a higher categorical
level. The original structure can then be recovered by means of the so-called
"decategorification" functor. Algebras are typically categorified to additive
categories with additional structure and decategorification is usually given by
the (split) Grothendieck group. In this expository article we study an
alternative decategorification functor given by the trace or the zeroth
Hochschild--Mitchell homology. We show that this form of decategorification
endows any 2-representation of the categorified quantum sl(n) with an action of
the current algebra U(sl(n)[t]) on its center.Comment: 47 pages with tikz figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with
