Industrial vision constitutes an efficient way to resolve quality control problems. It proposes a wide variety of relevant operators to accomplish controlling tasks in vision systems. However, the installation of these systems awaits for a precise parameter tuning, which remains a very difficult exercise. The manual parameter adjustment can take a lot of time, if precision is expected, by revising many operators. In order to save time and get more precision, a solution is to automate this task by using optimization approaches (mathematical models, population models, learning models...). This paper proposes an Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) based model. The process considers each ant as a potential solution, and then by an interacting mechanism, ants converge to the optimal solution. The proposed model is illustrated by some image processing applications giving very promising results. Compared to other approaches, the proposed one is very hopeful.Industrial vision constitutes an efficient way to resolve quality control problems. Vision based quality inspection emerged as a prime candidate in beverage manufacturing industry. It functions to control the product quality for the large scale industries; not only to save time, cost and labour, but also to secure a competitive advantage. It is a requirement of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001, to appease the customer satisfaction in term of frequent improvement of the quality of products and services. It is totally impractical to rely on human inspector to handle a large scale quality control production because human has major drawback in their performance such as inconsistency and time consuming. This article reviews defect detection using image processing techniques for beverage manufacturing industry. There are comparative studies on techniques suggested by previous researchers. This review focuses on shape defect detection, color concentration inspection and level of liquid products measurement in a container. Shape, color and level defects are the main concern for bottle inspection in beverage manufacturing industry. The development of practical testing and the services performance are also discussed in this paper

Background/Purpose. In terms of the detection of tooth diagnosis, no intelligent detection has been done up till now. Dentists just look at images and then they can detect the diagnosis position in tooth based on their experiences. Using new technologies, scientists will implement detection and repair of tooth diagnosis intelligently. In this paper, we have introduced one intelligent method for detection using particle swarm optimization (PSO) and our mathematical formulation. This method was applied to 2D special images. Using developing of our method, we can detect tooth diagnosis for all of 2D and 3D images. Materials and Methods. In recent years, it is possible to implement intelligent processing of images by high efficiency optimization algorithms in many applications especially for detection of dental caries and restoration without human intervention. In the present work, we explain PSO algorithm with our detection formula for detection of dental caries and restoration. Also image processing helped us to implement our method. And to do so, pictures taken by digital radiography systems of tooth are used. Results and Conclusion. We implement some mathematics formula for fitness of PSO. Our results show that this method can detect dental caries and restoration in digital radiography pictures with the good convergence. In fact, the error rate of this method was 8%, so that it can be implemented for detection of dental caries and restoration. Using some parameters, it is possible that the error rate can be even reduced below 0.5%

A Review of Automated Image Understanding within 3D Baggage Computed Tomography Security Screening

Baggage inspection is the principal safeguard against the transportation of prohibited and potentially dangerous materials at airport security checkpoints. Although traditionally performed by 2D X-ray based scanning, increasingly stringent security regulations have led to a growing demand for more advanced imaging technologies. The role of X-ray Computed Tomography is thus rapidly expanding beyond the traditional materials-based detection of explosives. The development of computer vision and image processing techniques for the automated understanding of 3D baggage-CT imagery is however, complicated by poor image resolutions, image clutter and high levels of noise and artefacts. We discuss the recent and most pertinent advancements and identify topics for future research within the challenging domain of automated image understanding for baggage security screening CT

Deep Learning-Based Method for Accurate Real-Time Seed Detection in Glass Bottle Manufacturing

Glass bottle-manufacturing companies produce bottles of different colors, shapes and sizes. One identified problem is that seeds appear in the bottle mainly due to the temperature and parameters of the oven. This paper presents a new system capable of detecting seeds of 0.1 mm2 in size in glass bottles as they are being manufactured, 24 h per day and 7 days per week. The bottles move along the conveyor belt at 50 m/min, at a production rate of 250 bottles/min. This new proposed method includes deep learning-based artificial intelligence techniques and classical image processing on images acquired with a high-speed line camera. The algorithm comprises three stages. First, the bottle is identified in the input image. Next, an algorithm based in thresholding and morphological operations is applied on this bottle region to locate potential candidates for seeds. Finally, a deep learning-based model can classify whether the proposed candidates are real seeds or not. This method manages to filter out most of false positives due to stains in the glass surface, while no real seeds are lost. The F1 achieved is 0.97. This method reveals the advantages of deep learning techniques for problems where classical image processing algorithms are not sufficient. This work was partially supported by OPENZDM project. The article concerns the computer-assisted vision system created for the detection of the disposable anesthetic respiratory masks. This article provides the classification of defects which may be common to both rubber and plastic parts of the masks. The defects were divided into groups and the nature of them was investigated. The algorithms and methods for the detection of defective products were based on the segmentation of image and the detection of uneven contours. The experiment results are presented in this work. With reference to the results, the most effective masks’ filters were identified. The achieved specificity of the computer vision system is 100 % and the sensitivity is 100 %
